Some people like strats,and other like other guitars (I love Ibanez).To each his own..yes?What people like,they should use.Nothing is "outdated" if a person love it,and can play like Chris on it.A strat just need a little adjustment,shaving a little of the neck,to be a great up to date instrument.Although Ibanez is my axe of choice,I love a strats clean sounds.

I say fuck the strat.....it's 22 frets fingerboard and half assed single coils and outdated tremolo bridge were good for the 1950's ,not now. Not to mention it's half assed ,low frets. These are just useless for this style. Having said that, there are a few strats that feels great and are worth adding some accessories to it....changing frets, pickups etc, but overall they are pretty fucking primitive, I'd rather buy a guitar with all the things mentioned

@deepislandboy , whatever works for you.....I love tall frets and a great locking trem, and I absolutely hate a single coil in the bridge position.

I do like the shape of the strat, but I'd go more for a Charvel San Dimas than a fender.

The fender strat is a great basic tool, but it's really overvalued.....look at the bridge, it's a piece of crap. I agree about Malmsteen, though, he really plays the shit out of a strat. I love his use of the trem, even though he uses a piece of crap.Talent

Yes true, u knw what confuses me is that shud one pick from the wrist or elbow or a mixture of both. all over the web ppl say that picking from wrist is tough. i myself feel the same too, but even though its efficient i still tend to pick more frm my forearm, which im afraid is not very efficient.

you can also pick using only your thumb and indexfinger to move the pick, very difficult to master but very rewarding

the best way to pick is to manuever the thumb and index fingers joints nearest the top of the fingers on out...like angelo, della vega, and shane gibson...that's the starting point, the origin of superior picking...
