To Sotomayor Roe v Wade is settled law but on gun ownership that is a fundamental right when she stated I'm not taking an opinion on that issue, because it's an open question. What open question? If Roe v Wade is settled the second amendment should be as well but not in the mind of Sotomayor. The status quo of the supreme court has traditionally been caucasian male, and she does have 17 years under her belt as a prosecutor, lawyer, and judge, she graduated summa cum laude from Princeton, and went to Yale Law School, so I would keep an open mind to the possibility that she is qualified. I personally believe she is.

Yes...You are correct...Our Founding Fathers wanted to seperate the powers of the church and state....However, 2 things are also true with that statement...A.) they DID found this country on Christian principles (although they did recognize that ppl should be able to worship freely and without persecution) and B.) they wanted very little Gov't control...That is why America was great...the power belonged to the ppl; not the Gov't...over time tho...little by little...the ppl have lost their power.

You're being naive...Those who commit murder or perverse crimes in the name of God, are extremists...The God's teachings do NOT call for us to harm one another; no matter the faith...and inall honesty those that do such acts are friggin' nuts and are labeled as such...trying build a world of "scientific reason" is the equivalant of me pushing my Christian belief upon you...So why would it be fair for you to push your beliefs on me and unfair for me to push my beliefs on you? so with all that being said, you should realize that it is becuz of that US Constitution that you have the freedom to worship (or not) as you so choose...but if you look at the Obama and his admin, our liberties are being taken away...i find it humorous that liberals think they know what's best for everyone...while the Conservatives seem to care about the individual liberties...and truthfully, it's us Conservatives who are the true liberals becuz we don't believe in treading on others liberties.

and "IF there ever was a Jesus"?...there WAS a Jesus; it is more IF He was the Son of God that is debated....The facts are facts...the USA WAS founded on Christian principles...there is no denying that...and really, even if you are an atheist, at least a society founded upon based Christian principles is a fair society and should be one that you should be proud, and thankful, to live in...No one forces religion on you...and the vast majority of ppl are good, hard-working ppl who treat ppl right.
