Hey Ryan, I was praticing the CU HP safe jump setup and I might be wrong about thins but, if the timing is off and Cody whiffs the high kick from a reversal characters like E.Honda will possibly react with a wake up command grab. I mean the odds of and oppenent reacting with that might be high but it happens. It worked against with Zangief, T.Hawk, Seth, Abel, E.Honda and other command grabs characters I left out but that's only if the HK whiffs.
Hey Ryan for characters that you can't safe jump after the HP CU, what is the best way to maintain pressure? I usually just follow up with a Crack Kick to close distance or a MP Bad Stone, especially if they're in the corner. Also, what's a good follow up to an EX Zonk or a forward throw?
@alekschang See my other comment about after HP CU. After EX Zonk, if it's a character you can safe jump, you can walk forward slightly and then jump to get a safe jump. Unfortunately, you can't hold up forward like HP CU against any characters. The same is true for Forward Throw. Walk up slightly and then jump. A few minutes in training mode will get you used to the timing of how far to walk before jumping.

@riku45 Good to hear. Against characters that you either can't safe jump (like shotos) or characters that you have to manually time the safe jump and it's too hard, I'll usually do 2 forward dashes immediately after a HP CU. This gets Cody point blank in time to get a meaty if you want it.

Mr. Hunter, I have a question about meaty option selects, how do u do meaty attack? then if it whiffs, a special move comes out like LK in DP or tatsu? i tried following the method, do meaty attack, input special very quickly, into another LK or jab, but every time by vesperarcade, but the jab cancels into the special move that i inputed, help please!!!

one more question, on sweep os like meaty c. short>c. short + c. roundhouse, what if the character doesn't have chain light attacks like Sagat? u have to do c. short, quickly c. roundhouse in between, then another c. short? or can you make it chain?
@HJayZ91 Yes, for characters that don't chain their jabs/shorts, you have to input the c.HK during the end of the animation of the first jab/short. And I mean the end of the animation based on the timing if they blocked it, not if it whiffs. You can practice that timing by whiffing a short/jab and doing your sweep as soon as possible afterwards.
@HJayZ91 You can only do those types of option selects with an attack that ISN'T special cancelable, for exactly the reason you're explaining. Not all characters can really utilize this type of option select. Cody can do it with cl.LK because it's not special cancelable.
@OptionSelectDotCom check out this guy's channel, his name is obey325, i see him doing meaty jab into os and it doesn't cancel, if it hits or gets blocked, the string continues, but when the oppenent back dashes, ex hozanto comes out, or guy's ex tatsu

The only way I can see that working, then, is that the special move is inputted during the recovery of the first jab/short are over, after the active frames are over, which should also be after the window where the move is cancelable. Then, he's linking the second jab/short, and not canceling it. But watching his video closely, it looks like he's chaining the first jab/short into the second. I'm really not sure, honestly.
@OptionSelectDotCom last question, i promise, search sagat option select 2 by alioune, it's meaty jab in ts, but if jab whiffs, tu comes out, how does that work? and is it possible to os kara tiger uppercut or el fuerte run into splash or is it only forward lk or hk and run then input upper and splash afterward? thank you so much
@OptionSelectDotCom you're pretty close. first part is correct: he's inputting the special after the point where the normal is cancelable. but the important thing in this story is that even if the normal isn't special cancelable anymore (aka after the active frames/in the recovery frames), it is still chain-cancelable. a chain cancel doesn't have a specific input-window like a special cancel has, you can input it at any point after the startup.
@MrCookTM so if you get the timing down to hit it exactly in the recovery frames of the normal, you can do some pretty nice option-selects. 2 examples that i am using from time to time are:
with cammy: cr.lk, qcf, st.lk + mk (hk). what you get is cr.lk xx st.lk chain if opp blocks, and cr.lk, ex-spiral arrow if opponent backdashes.
with ryu: cr.lp, qcb, st.lp + hk = cr.lp xx st.lp chain if opp blocks, and cr.lp, tatsu if opp backdashes.

@riku45 You can't really get anything good off a MK RK. You should really unlearn that and start using HP CU. There's really no reason not to.
