I never understood the concept of editing out fight scenes in a monster movie. If you have to make time, cut it out of the human scenes. People watch these films for the monsters.
Well, they watch the MS3TK versions for the comedy, but their fight commentary is always great and I hate to miss out on that.
Crow says, "Finally a fight", yet the editors cut out almost all of the fight scenes in this film, making it dreadfully boring instead of just stunningly boring.
@vennylos Actually this is the best Gamera film of the original series, mainly because it doesn't try to pander to little kids the way the other original films did... Other than the lack of monster action, it's very much in tone and style to the 90's Gamera trilogy which are three of the best giant monster films ever made. The only problem is the lack of monster action.
I swear the filmmakers made this one with a cautionary tale in mind. Basically, 'greed is bad.' We see greed send these two men off, and 2 of them are killed by the third. The third guy then gets a bad case of greed and is willing to kill for that big diamond, which leads to his death.
@pretorious700 Well, most of them, yeah. There are ones in Africa and the Middle East that can kill a human. No idea if they also live on secret Pacific islands with monster eggs on them, though.
bigbigBIG TYs for the post! u would have to be a teenage melting man married to a leech woman who is having an affair with an aztec mummy not to like this episode...and i really really mean that too...
Crow: Mucho agua!
Joel: Crow, if you stay in too long, you'll get all wrinkly, dear!

@80MWH -You`re not supposed to get rich or be happy in films. They can`t turn that into cheap drama.

For a Japanese movie there is a disturbing lack of Martial Arts.
