Well, if she is a lesbian, she's after the same thing that most guys are. I always thought she was HOT !!! When she played Alex P. Keatons mom, I had a hugh crush on her... still do.
Classic Lifetime crapola. She's a lesbian with Dana Delany because her husband, played by James Brolin, can't get it up any more, except with 11 year old choir boys. She discovers this, shoots the bastard, then runs away to Mexico....
@amityvillefan1 I think some of that is dramatized for the sake of tv/movies. I can't speak for everyone but I don't think most bulimics shove it in their mouths like that. Personally I don't. Sometimes I eat fast but never like that. When people do do it once they start binging it's like you're in an alternate state of mind, you hardly know what you're doing.
this is sick and funny at the same time sorry i know i shouldnt find this hysterical bu' I do! I would throw up to if I ate a whole pack of mallow mars and then downed moo juice yuck
She is such a great actress...always loved her. I remember way before the Lifetime Channel, Channel 2, 4, and 7 would show movies such as hers and they would be featured as Sunday Night Movies...she was in many of those.
i dont understand anorexia and bullimia and i dont pretend to so im not trying to be disrespectful here but i always get confused when they binge...why shove it in and make such a mess like that?...cant she just sit down and eat that plate of food then throw it up?...surely the outcome would be the same.?...again no disrespect intended.
I hate how she uses her daughter as an excuse to buy fast food and pizza so she can binge and purge. A sad, pathetic excuse I think. And whenever asked about not having more than one of something, she quickily drives off once she leaves the place or if someone notices her large orders, she'll say it's a suprise for her daughter.
@starrbeatlesqueen lol yeah we do that sometimes cause of the shamefulness and embarrassed feeling you have that u cant control...anorexia alone was much easier
Bulimia is a mental disease really, where a person needs to feel in control of something, in this case, weight and eating habits. Unfortunately after a period of time, the person gradually loses control. They become in denial and continue with the idea that they can stop on their own, but really they can't.
People don't realize that eating disorders are similar to addiction and like all addictions, there needs to be a point where a person has to give up and get help or they'll die.

@xnicoler haha no i dont like watching them happen it makes me sad but i like to read about it. and watch people getting interviwed if they had a ED. its interesting to see how their mind works.
alot of women binge and purge, it is very sad. I think it is a mixture of feeling inadequate physically and also trying to be in control of something-that something is the food. I find it unfortunate that people put certain standards on what is gorgeous, decent and ugly. That mindset follows the negative behavior and causes this type of disease. Fear and "pressure to be" are 2 powerful, emotional components that create weakness. How we portray women does affect our little girls self esteems.
i feel nauseous...I could never stuff my face like that..just the thought is making me kinda sick...but I am interested in seeing this movie..if I could ever find it...
How does she do that? gulping down all those cookies at no time at all.
It amazes me that she did that in no matter of time. It would take me a long time to eat all those in a package. she must have felt sick after that. I know this is about a serious disease. I keep looking at how she ate the cookies ..how does she do that.
what kind of cookies is she mowing on? yum...please! i couldnt have nassitaws desease-no judgment, but for me i loss what little ass i have and my boobs shrivel to nothing. so ive gotta at least keep some curves because im 5'11.
@bettyford13 e-mail midnight3937@hotmail.com and he will reply rather quickly and give you all the instructions you need to make the purchase. I'd like to add that the copies he sells are recorder from television directly from Lifetime Movie Network but it's still in very high-quality in both picture and sound. I think the only thing missing from the copies he sells is the part where after she eats the marshallow chocolate cookies she drinks the milk, well it's missing but the rest is fine.
Now what was the point in doing all of that. I mean ive known people to have eating disorders but havent heard of one eating all types of food at once and throwing it up. call me crazy but i only thought they eat one meal and go throw it back up.
@SassiDiva Having experienced Bulimia you get hungry. And that behavior was pretty normal. I mean even though you jut ate but when you throw it up after an hour or so your STARVING. I've went on a hunger craze like that once too.
@SassiDiva With bulimia and (binge-purge) anorexia (and obviously over-eating) you go on binges. This can mean eating something as little as a whole package of cookies, or that and a few other foods, or it can mean full-out gorging yourself with all kinds of food, in one sitting, through-out the day, or several days at a time. Some throw it up afterwards, some purge by abusing laxatives, and some over-exercise or do a combination of these things to purge the food/calories they have consumed.
@SassiDiva A lot of bulimics binge. You don't hear about it because it is humiliating, and people with EDs usually are more willing to talk about restricting and purging than about uncontrollable binging. You eat it all at once because you are telling yourself that this is the only time today that you're going to do this, so better have everything you're not allowed to have otherwise, except that you usually end up doing it more than once. Its an awful cycle.
@SassiDiva The definition of bulimia is to binge (eat an unreasonably large amount of food at once) and then purge. (throw up, laxatives, fast, etc...)
I've looked for it almost everywhere that I could watch this. I ended up ordering it online from a seller who sells copies of it for 7 bucks. I think it's worth it to have this on my movie collection, I love this movie!
@fashionhistorylover Stealing binge food and things like diet pills and laxatives (and just stealing things from stores in general) is actually a more common occurance with eating disordered people than you would think. I used to always steal those things in relation to my ED. Couldn't really even tell you why, but somehow it fueled the disorder and I liked it. Some people actually wind up in debt because they do pay so much for lots of food and whatnot.
@fashionhistorylover To bulimics, their sickness is so shameful and secretive. She probably didn't want the cashier to know she was buying the cookies...
i luv that theyve portrayed an older woman in this, all the movies seem t be bout teens, but e.d's are alot more prominant in middle age to older woman
I love Meredith and all of these made for tv movies that she and so many peers of her's made back in the 70's and 80's, wish they'd show them all again on tv.
People, watch the film, in the 3rd scene just before her binging/purging she's working out with her daughter, and she was wearing a leotard which is why her clothes are unusal.
Good to know they are showing this movie in schools. I hope it helped some people who are suffering with eating disorders. Did parents have sign a consent form or something for you students to watch this movie? Forgive me, I do not know if you are in high school or college. I work with people who suffer with eating disorders and I had my battle with anorexia and bulimia nervosa for years before I received residential help.
I don't mean to disrespect this health issue, but the music is just so...it's not appropriate. And how is she possibly throwing up enough to compensate for all of that food? What technique would one use?
@AlexisAlways1 I'm not making a joke about ED. I do think it is serious. I'm just pointing out things in the movie. It's just a show.....she's not really gonna die.
It drives me crazy when I see comments by girls saying they are bulimic. A bulimic doesn't just freely say it or it wouldn't be a disorder. Dumb asses. Why is being bulimic cool?
I think it's good when people are able to admit to themselves and to others that they have are bulimic or anorexic, etc. It is a serious life threatening disorder. Being bulimic, etc. isn't cool. They could be in recovery from their ED's and be happy so I don't see the problem. I almost lost my life to ED's. I'm free and been in full recovery since 1994. There's always a reason behind the ED's.
There's always a reason behind the ED's. I work with people on daily who suffer and it helps them to talk or chat with someone who's really been there It's courageous for them to speak out.
Okay the part where's she's binging in the kitchen is SO overdramatic. I can't help but laugh when she's knocking stuff over and falling onto the floor. who does that? I'm bulimic and I've never even come close to acting like that. Gotta say it kinda makes me laugh...still love the movie though
hope you get well. this isn't an attack...but it really is dangerous for you =\ i'm sure you're beautiful inside and out. this sounds cliche and like bullshit to you but come the fuck on...you know what's gonna happen if you don't change it
So , starry -- You're saying you actually ARE a bulimic and YOU actually DO something this stupid and YOU are laughing at an HER , an ACTOR, who is being PAID to do this ? Do you even realize what you wrote ?
She was a BIG crush when I was a young girl. I am lesbian, and funny, though femme in looks, butcher in attitude <me, I always gravitated towards certain woman at a young age. (in 38 now) Woman whom later =came out,....wooo hoooo Gaydar!
Wow. Makes me thankful that I was able to get over my ED relatively quickly. I couldn't imagine living for years like this.
One thing that's unrealistic about these scenes is that I don't think people could get away w/ wharfing down a package of cookies in a grocery store. I think "Asset Protection" would have been on her the moment she started looking "suspicious"- or by the time she ripped open the package at the latest.
Then again,it was the '80s- a more laid back time in several ways.
I didn't see any cameras in the store like now, just those huge mirrors. So that was one way to get away with it. But still, out in the open like that, could've gotten caught.
I think that was the style at the time. Women wore men's shirts with lycra short-shorts that were way short, cut up to the crotch. Girls would go to school like that. (At least that was how they dressed in California, in the mid 1980s.)
This was very much a groundbreaking movie. At that time, I do not think there were too films (made for TV or otherwise) that dealt with the subject of eating disorders, bullumia or aneroxa nervosa.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I knew this bitch was guy way back when. There was always something a little off with her. Not sexy, as the media always portrayed her to be. And what a stupid fucking movie this is. Eating disorders. Fuck people with eating disorders.
While it's true that most who have obsessive eating disorders don't resort to eating off the floor, the uncontrolled approach to food is acurately portrayed in this clip.
the way she eats the food and shakes and "savors" it. is so DISTURBING! i remember seeing this as a child in the 1980's. i recall it creeped me out. still does watching it here again. :(
See, that's why I shaved my head, so I wouldn't have to move it out of the way when other people puke. Just goes to show, "You can lead a horse to water, but can't keep it from making other people puke"
Ummm this movie is ridiculous! At no point and time am I ever so out of control that I am eating off the floor and shovling food in my mouth with my fingers!
EXACTLY! They are overdramatizing this to make it trashy. And like I said in another comment- Lifetime showed another movie about an eating disorder with Crystal Bernard and she ate out of the trash. It may be what really happened to one person but for almost everyone else with this problem - this kind of thing is not realistic.
To people with an eating disorder, what we do which is damaging and unhealthy gives us a feeling of control. This is not control, not even in a Lying to Ourselves kind of way. And we could never lie ourselves into believing it is. It's just a cheap TV-movie ploy to get audiences with no experience in eating disorders to react with horror / disgust.
maybe the felling but the problem is you don't control ANYTHING..this movie is about bulimia not anorexia..and I'm sorry but bulimia is disgusting and horrifying!!when you're having crisis you just can't stop eating until you're just totally "full" to then throw everything up!
Thanks for trying to educate but really - none of that explains why she apparently has fits of throwing things on the floor and why women in these movies eat out of the garbage. They weren't eating everything in these movies - they were picking lightly. She didn't clear the plates into her mouth. She wasn't loading her mouth up like an animal, she was picking a little of this and a little of that. She was smearing. Can you explain this woman's behavior and how it fits into what you're saying?
So anyway, I don't know what you're experience with this is. But you talk as though it's a MAGICAL affliction. Like it just happens to people. Or like it's a tapeworm or something inside people. There is a root for every problem we have.
Like I said before, I (and I doubt I'm the only one here) have personal experience in eating disorders. So, I don't know why you feel you have to correct me, but I know from experience that this doesn't scream "Realistic." It makes me laugh. It's silly.
I agree. The whole dropping of the plates and the fact that she can't arse herself to just buy the fcking food and eat it in PRIVATE instead of pigging out in a public place is just funny.
I saw Meredith on a commercial and told somebody that I remembered this scene from when I was 5 years old. 30 seconds and a google search for '"Meredith baxter" + bulimia' later and we're watching the actual scene I just described from a 23 year old memory. So THANKS for posting this! LOL
Seriously, I can't believe no one noticed. Or gawked at her. Would have been one way for the movie to have made her life even worse than it already was. Shameless.
I think I remember seeing this a long while back, too bad no one has the entire movie on here, would like to see it again, damn I'm addicted to these tv movies now and there are so many on youtube
I think its a good portrayal. She is very advanced in her bulimia, you can tell she's had it years as she's much older and thats why she's all over the place, I mean knocking the food over, eating off the floor and publicly doing it because she's really sick.
I'm kind of outraged seeing her knock everything over. Does she really have to break plates? Are her nerves that shot? It feels to me like the filmmakers are just upping the desperation to make her look more pathetic. Why can't any bulimics be professional at their disorders, & THEN have an epiphany & give it up? Also, notice how she honks the horn at the fast food place - like they can't get her the food fast enough... She won't even let the speaker-person talk before she honks. How rude!
"Why can't any bulimics be professional at their disorders, & THEN have an epiphany & give it up? " My god you are so nive! Bulimia is an addiction, you can't just give it up! its just as fatal as alcholisum or taking class A drugs. ED have the highest mortality rate in mental health. This is nothing you can get a grip of, it HELL!!!
Um... fly off the handle, why don't you. Wow, you have no idea what I was talking about - do you? I was referring to how in these "issue" tv movies, every main character has an epiphany at the end and learns how to "deal with it." Not real life. And for your information, I have an eating disorder. But guess what? Even when I was throwing up- I didn't eat food OFF THE FLOOR, on the floor.
Don't lecture people until you know what they're talking about. It's self-righteous and nAive.
I don't know if it's as completely out there as people think. A lot of bulimics and binge eaters report having similar crazed 'public' binges. Marya Hornbacher in her book "Wasted" and Alisa in the documentary "Thin" come to mind right off. It's amazing what malnutrition and electrolyte imbalances will do to a person. The character is in a severely advanced stage in her ED, and I think it&
the dramatic music while she binges is amazing and very important to the intensity of the scene. you know this is one of the better ones....

Love this movie! Here's hoping she only had to shoot that kitchen scene once ;). Probably sounds gross, but I think that food look so good.

Oooh this was a good movie. We had to watch this in heath class in high school.
fannysmack 1 year ago
Good to know they are showing this movie in schools. I hope it helped some people who are suffering with eating disorders. Did parents have sign a consent form or something for you students to watch this movie? Forgive me, I do not know if you are in high school or college. I work with people who suffer with eating disorders and I had my battle with anorexia and bulimia nervosa for years before I received residential help.

That's not funny. She could lose her life. ED's are serious life threatening disease.

Dumb asses. Why is being bulimic cool?
jaidemm 1 year ago
well it's the internet. it's not like they're shouting it in the middle of a mall or something :P
zombieeatslollipop 1 year ago 2
I think it's good when people are able to admit to themselves and to others that they have are bulimic or anorexic, etc. It is a serious life threatening disorder. Being bulimic, etc. isn't cool. They could be in recovery from their ED's and be happy so I don't see the problem. I almost lost my life to ED's. I'm free and been in full recovery since 1994. There's always a reason behind the ED's.
AlexisAlways1 1 year ago
There's always a reason behind the ED's. I work with people on daily who suffer and it helps them to talk or chat with someone who's really been there It's courageous for them to speak out.

Okay the part where's she's binging in the kitchen is SO overdramatic. I can't help but laugh when she's knocking stuff over and falling onto the floor. who does that? I'm bulimic and I've never even come close to acting like that. Gotta say it kinda makes me laugh...still love the movie though

zinakane 2 years ago
Then again,it was the '80s- a more laid back time in several ways.
svetaswan 2 years ago 2
I didn't see any cameras in the store like now, just those huge mirrors. So that was one way to get away with it. But still, out in the open like that, could've gotten caught.

Who goes to get a pizza with no pants on?
JamesRichard123 2 years ago
I think that was the style at the time. Women wore men's shirts with lycra short-shorts that were way short, cut up to the crotch. Girls would go to school like that. (At least that was how they dressed in California, in the mid 1980s.)

I knew this bitch was guy way back when. There was always something a little off with her. Not sexy, as the media always portrayed her to be. And what a stupid fucking movie this is. Eating disorders. Fuck people with eating disorders.
2242bzo 2 years ago
While it's true that most who have obsessive eating disorders don't resort to eating off the floor, the uncontrolled approach to food is acurately portrayed in this clip.
67Stephie 2 years ago 4
the way she eats the food and shakes and "savors" it. is so DISTURBING! i remember seeing this as a child in the 1980's. i recall it creeped me out. still does watching it here again. :(

Ummm this movie is ridiculous! At no point and time am I ever so out of control that I am eating off the floor and shovling food in my mouth with my fingers!
deamorsita 2 years ago
EXACTLY! They are overdramatizing this to make it trashy. And like I said in another comment- Lifetime showed another movie about an eating disorder with Crystal Bernard and she ate out of the trash. It may be what really happened to one person but for almost everyone else with this problem - this kind of thing is not realistic.
justaguyfriend 2 years ago
To people with an eating disorder, what we do which is damaging and unhealthy gives us a feeling of control. This is not control, not even in a Lying to Ourselves kind of way. And we could never lie ourselves into believing it is. It's just a cheap TV-movie ploy to get audiences with no experience in eating disorders to react with horror / disgust.
justaguyfriend 2 years ago
maybe the felling but the problem is you don't control ANYTHING..this movie is about bulimia not anorexia..and I'm sorry but bulimia is disgusting and horrifying!!when you're having crisis you just can't stop eating until you're just totally "full" to then throw everything up!
sabri128 2 years ago
Thanks for trying to educate but really - none of that explains why she apparently has fits of throwing things on the floor and why women in these movies eat out of the garbage. They weren't eating everything in these movies - they were picking lightly. She didn't clear the plates into her mouth. She wasn't loading her mouth up like an animal, she was picking a little of this and a little of that. She was smearing. Can you explain this woman's behavior and how it fits into what you're saying?
justaguyfriend 2 years ago
So anyway, I don't know what you're experience with this is. But you talk as though it's a MAGICAL affliction. Like it just happens to people. Or like it's a tapeworm or something inside people. There is a root for every problem we have.
Like I said before, I (and I doubt I'm the only one here) have personal experience in eating disorders. So, I don't know why you feel you have to correct me, but I know from experience that this doesn't scream "Realistic." It makes me laugh. It's silly.
justaguyfriend 2 years ago
I agree. The whole dropping of the plates and the fact that she can't arse herself to just buy the fcking food and eat it in PRIVATE instead of pigging out in a public place is just funny.

mugabezuwane 2 years ago 2
I think its a good portrayal. She is very advanced in her bulimia, you can tell she's had it years as she's much older and thats why she's all over the place, I mean knocking the food over, eating off the floor and publicly doing it because she's really sick.
justagirl166 2 years ago 3
I'm kind of outraged seeing her knock everything over. Does she really have to break plates? Are her nerves that shot? It feels to me like the filmmakers are just upping the desperation to make her look more pathetic. Why can't any bulimics be professional at their disorders, & THEN have an epiphany & give it up? Also, notice how she honks the horn at the fast food place - like they can't get her the food fast enough... She won't even let the speaker-person talk before she honks. How rude!
justaguyfriend 2 years ago
"Why can't any bulimics be professional at their disorders, & THEN have an epiphany & give it up? " My god you are so nive! Bulimia is an addiction, you can't just give it up! its just as fatal as alcholisum or taking class A drugs. ED have the highest mortality rate in mental health. This is nothing you can get a grip of, it HELL!!!
justagirl166 2 years ago
Um... fly off the handle, why don't you.
