  • Original is actually by Erma Franklin, Aretha's sister.

  • They dont make music like this anymore. Or i mean to say is that they can`t make music like this anymore.

  • Janis, you are 61 years older than, but I find you to be insanely attractive.

  • Happy Birthday

    Janis!!

  • happy birthday janis

  • ;) It`s for you baby.;)

  • One of the most powerful, and overlooked, singer in American Rock history.

  • don't worry Miss 17, there are enough of us out there, Janis will never be forgotten

  • I love how this song evolved, BBHC's was slower & as Janis moved on to other bands the song sped up as if it were trying to mimick her life. Slower, then faster & faster & then one day its gone. You can't hold on to a shooting star anywhere but in your mind. Pearl, you are missed child.

  • R-e-s-p-e-c-t

  • God send us back Janis and take lady gaga!!!!

  • miss you Pearl.....

  • MORAISITO AMETISTA - the best...

  • viva ao rock-roll

  • muy bueno q tremenda voz................!

  • This was the 60s, my friend. :-)

  • Damn I wish i had time travel, the 70s was the shit!

  • It wasn't *just* the music, is was about creating something new.

  • Those were the days when all that mattered is the music. Who cares what they looked like? That is the point. No one cared back then. We only cared about the music.

  • watching this is honestly moving

  • I love her voice. :)

  • her voice awesome i love this song!

  • Janis was so intense. You don't get that type of energy anywhere. That's pure talent.

  • @zemegamasturbator and a lot of Southern Comfort ;) I adore Janis. Why must the good die young?

  • @zemegamasturbator you get that kind of energy from copious amounts of drugs

  • Look at the guy behind Sam Andrews' right.. Never changes expression. He could be a cutout.

  • But he was SO TALENTED! When Janis came into town...no one practiced. She was there. Within a hour...the band and bands better be prepared to jive with her...without rehearsals. It was always a last minute walkout...without rehearsals. It was go on stage and try to BLEND in. You shoud try it some x. & how would u do. It is so easy to complain & to critizise. It would be another 20 yrs before she would surprise them again...rite?

  • What's that got to do with Mr. Cutout? Is he the one that's so talented? Or did you mean Sam andrews?

  • o come on friend ... my ship.... friendship to the people world...

  • The Best!!!!!

  • Why do i always get tears in my eyes when i listen to this song ?

  • One would get tears in his eyes even if she sang lines from the phone book with the melody of itzi bitzi spider.

  • @oudzuidNL cause she's continuously heartbroke

    and aint we all?

    thats HEART calling us HOME

and she just wont fool herself

  • ta madre!!.. que chulada.. lo mejorde lo mejor la janis

  • mucha duraaaaaaa

  • What a great performqnce! Thanks for posting.

  • I am a huge Metal lover, but you gotta love the pioneers of rock. Damn great song. Long live rock.

  • This is the first rock and roll album I ever bought and I am still trying to recover. 16 years old and trying to define myself this song literally rocked my world. Thank you Janis for sharing with us your pain, sorrow, and tears. You will always be the.... Queen!

  • su voz que desagradale es :)

  • Ella es una Classic Rock and Roll Leyenda .. su voz es primordial, pero es muy potente.

  • WOW how awesome to see and her again! thanks for posting this!

  • I dont think people like this come around more than once.not like Janis.R.I.P you lovely gifted soul.

  • What's sad is that, I'm 17 and when I say to my friends "Blah blah Janis Joplin" they say "Who". How can the world forget someone so amazing and powerful

    Love you Janis xxx

  • As long as we remember, she still lives.

  • its because everything has to wrapped in a pretty little package. Its about the look, not the substance. Yeah its sad. I blame the record companies, mtv, and american idol, and anyone who supports that music-destroying show.

  • It's also because Janis was the very first woman to be a rock superstar. She was openly criticized for living like her male counterparts. She was sexually permiscuous, she had a drug habit that eventually killed her, & she was a difficult person to be around. Because of these things, she was left out of many DJ playlists on the radio, she was never given her due, even though she was such a pioneer. Every rose has thorns, never were the male stars looked at like she was. She deserved much more.

  • @NirvanaFanNZ Right on! one of the most amazing women in Rock History! truely talented and beautiful.

  • Do you know how blessed the world is for this? This is AMAZING life. What would the world be without Janis?????????????????????

  • LMAO she is the queen! What a joke to suggest otherwize lmao...

  • according to wikipedia (maybe not the best source, but its the best i got on the comp), the song was written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns and first performed by Erma Franklin... so my bet is that erma franklin didnt write it

  • Comment removed

  • I agree.

  • It was written by Jerry Ragovoy.

  • You are correct, I wrote the word wrote, I knew better :), Thanks for the correction. Peace.

  • No worries!

  • Janis was to much, loved her anyway. She was so different from anyone else during that time. Any Janis fan, must have Pearl in their music collection. Rolling Stone Magazine in 2003, listed it as on of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

  • nice

  • E X C E L E N T E !

  • what a woman and what a voice.....janis ROCKS!!!!
