Just being a troll, y'all, so plze don't flame me!
R.I.P. our darling Marc, and I'm gonna be very sad when David goes, as well, but at least he got to have a FEW xtra birthdays than the corkdcrew-hared non-square elfin one.
Thanx soooo much 4 dharing this, TDV - blessingss.
@nicktf1, interesting fact, where you got that from ? I would have guessed George Murray on bass as he backed Bowies band from 1976 to 1980. Herbie Flowers plays on Space Oddity and Walk on the wild side 5 years prior to this so it surprises me Bowie hired him again for this backing track.
@Droyd21 It's in "Strange Fascination" by David Buckley - the other guys were part of Mark's house band. It's interesting to listen to the guitar knowing it's Bowie's approximation of Fripp..
I'm sorry, but why is it that every time I here this song it's the version less than half the length of the original! David Bowie wrote this song with the intention of playing it the way he imagined it, not in this slimmed down bastardization. Do people have such a low attention span that they can't listen to a, GASP, six 1/2 minute song! Christ!
I'll be honest Bowie looks like he's really embarrassed to be on this show but he did it to help out a friend who's career was struggling which is admirable.
Absolutely gorgeous. I watched it the day it was on the telly (broadcast 9 days after Bolan died). Found it today on the anniversary of his death, so sad even now.
Yep..whoever said "sexy and magical.." you hit it on the head....I love the hair, esp. the way it's a little long and curls up on the back of his neck...drives me crazy:)...that, and that sweet gold cross around his neck...yummy is so right! I love the shy little upward double glance he gives the camera...like he's flirting, and shy, but oh so devilish when he wants to be....the ultimate man!!! (yes, I'm gushing...sorry! the girls all know what I mean...)
@vaguella ha ha...oh, yes....he is just too much. Just chills ...can u imagine those eyes looking deeeeeeeply into yours? Hmmmmm, like maybe from above? all the while, the edge of that little gold cross is dangling playfully around your chin or neck? lol....oh yeahhhhhhh! Girls we should get together and write a fan page..called "Bowierotica!"..favorite sexy fantasies about that delicious man....mmmmm. I'd sure contribute!
David sings live to a backing track. But this backing track is nothing like on the record. It could be played by some anonymous musicians due to regulations set by the the British "Musicians Union" (to protect employment of musicians against playback)
This man is divine.
This music is priceless.
It's saddening to go from this song (or any of Bowie's songs for that matter) to today's music industry's products.

Don't know what happened to David that day but he's miles away from his unique on stage presence. Much appreciated video nevertheless.

@jerste Yes, I would guess that being there singing that song was probably the last thing he wanted to be doing!

If Bolan had played on this, it would have been an iconic bit of British Music footage.....however it sounds like Karaoke

Is Marc playing guitar here?
dutchbolanfan 1 year ago
@dutchbolanfan
I very much doubt it.
Bowie had his own musicians.
The vocal is live, it may even be a backing track to which he's adding live vocals.
But definitely not Marc on guitar.
