The best part of the demo is in someone's archive. Sensei did Jo-Nage and flung Moore about 20 feet from where the Jo cherry-picked Keef's knees from the mat. Moore's dislocated c1-ass was a manifestation of Sensei deciding to "get-into-it." The gasp of the audience described it quite well.
The demo looks "soft, " but, the man could throw. Unfortunately, he had one uke who put in the hours on the mat, and very few people know his name. Everyone else is a high ranked SENSEI.
Toyoda Shihan deserves a much greater platform, anywhere. He was the kind of MAN, who was bigger than life. He was hilarious, terrifying, charming, and also knew a bit about how separate you from your head n shoulders......Helluva guy :-)
Thank you for posting the clip of Toyoda Sensei I was a student of his in the early 90s at JCC in Chicago. It brought back some great memories of classes that he used to teach when he was still with us.
I trained with Moore Sensei at a seminar this past weekend. He is amazing. I came to this clip to see how his lineage influenced his Aikido. It's not evident in this video. Toyoda is very different. His energy is much more internal, while Moore sensei has a very overt dynamism and athleticism.
Is The Uke In This Vid Keith Moore? I think he (Keith) is the best Technician as far as Aikido is concerned, Really. I'm A Jiu-Jitsu Man Myself, but i used to see him teach in Downtown chicago before my Jits Class, and if i was going to take Aikido, I'd choose him as my Sensei.
It looks like Marc Pandolfi, then Keith Moore and Lis Menning for the aikido demo. I don't know who the guy with the beard is. During the sword practice it's Marc and Keith. Hope this helps!
MANY THANKS for posting this! I had the incredible opportunity to train with Toyoda Sensei from 1998 - 2001 and I've been looking all over for videos with him in them!
That big-ass (practice) bokken of his would come at you fast-and-furious in kumi-tachi, as you can see in this video.

I think I get it, the bigger and more powerful the uke, the softer he became, great post. Thanx.

Perhaps you should post a video showcasing your superb skill, and show us all what a great demonstration should look like.
