Heah bro, the heat shield is plastic. Plastic doesn't conduct heat nearly as much as metal. Also, it makes the front end of the gun lighter, as the gun is perfectly balanced with it being plastic. Real-steel M14s even have a plastic heat shield because of those reasons. Heat and weight. All you need to know.

PLASTIC heat shield on a real gun! lol. it's a thin sheet of metal that's free-floating from the barrel so that YOU (and the shield) does not contact the barrel. and besides, plastic on a real gun, especially in that area, will never pass the military test. just so you know, there is a difference between PLASTIC and other materials they use on the guns like M16, M4, SCAR, etc, the engineers just call it plastic so that people like YOU can understand.

that's right, it is called POLYMER, u halve to be very specific when ur putting up an argument. and the military doesn't really care if it's "shitty" as long as it's durable and meets their "requirements". the "modern" M14 may have "polymer" heat shield, but they were originally metal and it's more of a personal preference to which u would rather have on. u are making a false statement that they are "not supposed to be metal dumb ass!" because they technically used metal for the original one.

and just for the record, ur comment is the one that's being "ignorant". u have to have a valid reason and fair amount of evidence and decent background knowledge before u completely reject a fact that is true, considering that the M14 has many different variations out of its original model. i'm not trying to be rude or anything, it's just that metal heat shield is what's on the original blueprint and everything else is based from this design, such as the M21, Mk. 14 Mod 0, M39 EMR, etc..

Its a good gun and all, but G&G guns have paper thin spur gears which paper thin with a 9.6v and up WILL SHATTER! I'm sure you got this gun for an amazing price, but G&P makes a superior M14. Nevertheless nice review 5/5.

PS: I suggest getting a smart charger. The charger that came with the "upgrade" is shit to say the least. I can't tell you how many frickin battery's I've fried because of wall chargers.

The G&G M14 does not have the highest FPS and Accuracy on the market. Which I'm going to assume you mean a stock G&G. With the setups that I run this M14 and your GR300 could run it, especially with G&G gear set. That's all I was really saying that if he wanted to run a high speed/fps setup that you would have to use a stronger gear set. This G&G is nice, but I like the G&P M14's because they're Marui type GB's.

Heh, real guns are undoubtedly more fun in actual shooting, but you can skirmish with your friends with airsoft guns. You can practice reloading, movement and shooting, etc with the same gear you'd normally use, AND have fun with your friends. On top of that, it is much cheaper then actual ammo.
