It amazes me that Chuck Berry was only a year younger than my parents. The first testament that Rock 'n Roll keeps one young. My parents were always such old farts and my dad detested Rock music, especially the Beatles, when they had hit the scene. Dad didn't accept rock music until the 70's. I still remember him complaining about having to by pants with "flair" bottoms because he couldn't get he normal baggy straight legs any more. But he got hip when leisure suits came out. RIP dad.

You can dig deeper and deeper but you'll never find the bottom . Rock n Roll was alive before the people who played had the technology or the means to record it . It's universal ...it's folk music drawn from all over the world . I'd say Skiffle music in New Orleans could be called rock n roll and that was at least 20 or 30 years prior to Elvis or Chuck .

@elvisisthebest100 someone needs to brush up on their musical history. Ike Turner & Jackie Brenston are the 'Fathers of Rock' they recorded the very first Rock 'n Roll record In March 1951 called Rocket 88 the band was called Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats. Elvis was no doubt one of the earliest but not the First.
