Why is it a good thing that you can see the display clearly from the side? I mean it's not like your going to work with your phone looking from the side and do you wan't everyone to be able to spy on your screen?
@Vader0134 what you see him doing there is exaggerating a common problem with ALL lcd monitors and displays of ALL kinds. Doesn't matter if you don't look at your screens at an angle, the way LCD monitors are designed means you'll always get this colour uneven-ness at all times.
plus, this being such a MINIMAL disadvantage, I'd like to point out it is not the main advantage of super amoLED.
go and see a real amoLED screen in real life and I guarentee you'll fall in love, provided you're not bias

OLED is the self-illuminating successor to backlit LCD. LCD screens have problems like gray blacks, poor viewing angles, and slow pixel response that creates ghosting on fast moving objects. "Retina" increased the number of LCD pixels, not how they look or behave. LCD's problems are inherent and irresolvable, so Apple is risking a lot by continuing to invest in and use them.
I think it/s obvious who the winner is. And I have a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant with the SUPER AMOLED screen so of course not even the iPhone 4 compares to that.

The iphone 4's screen isn't much greater than that 3gs. It's the same technology. Iphone 4 just has more ppi and a higher overall resolution. But, honestly, with a screen that small, you can't tell the difference. The amoled and super amoled's vibrant colors and contrast outshine anything apple has put out. retina display 800:1 contrast. Super amoled 100,000:1. And amoled doesn't need a back light. Which means better battery life.
@kush2121 If you compare the 3GS screen to the iPhone 4's you would see a big difference not only in resolution (the 3GS has a pathetically low res even for a 3.5 inch screen), but also in the viewing angle and contrast. In a low light environment, the 3GS blacks are more noticeably cloudy/grayish and in direct sunlight the 3GS is just weak compared to the iPhone 4. iPhone 4 uses IPS tech. That being said, the super-amoled of the galaxy S is far superior than any iPhone ever released.
@woodsy11smc Galaxy S screens destroy the Iphone 4's. There is no comparison. Everyone brings up resolution in favor of the Iphone. Which is true. It does have higher resolution than the Galaxy S line. But you can't tell the difference on displays that small. I am not going into detail about the resolution the human eye can discerns based on minute of arc, but the difference between samoled and retina is not noticeable.
i have a wave 8500 - the screen is out of this world - i was outside in bright winter sun today and i had no problem at all flipping through the menus. at night, however, i have to lower the luminosity because it's that bloody bright! the torch widget is wickedly brilliant! ;)

i gave my iphone3 and recently my iphone 4 to my children after i got a new wave from the local dealer. the color is much much more stunning. the new bada is quite useful, and the thing is 'fast'. the internet connection and vdo quality is superb. my best decision on smartphone so far in the past 2 years :)
I got my S8500wave now since about 2 months and damn i´m still in love with that little bastard! i hope the samsung appstore will get more popular at the moment there arent that much apps only about 2000 and some new Browser would be awesome!
I am not saying that the iPhone 3G and 4 are poor equipment, on the contrary - the iPhone is a very good phone but it falls to me worse than the Wave. And when it comes to price Wave is two times cheaper than the iPhone.
And as for the battery - lasts 3-4 days always at the optimum use. Bada os. Samsung has yet Galaxy S which is the same as the Wave. The only difference Wave and Galaxy S is such that the Galaxy has Android and 4-inch screen. is so far a new system that is growing very quickly. On a daily basis in the lounges I have access to the iPhone 4 and in my opinion, the Wave used better.

I find the white (of a web page for instance) nevers looks white on the Galaxy S or the Wave. There's a blue tint about it.
There's not much to say about iPhone 4. It's a really first class screen (far better than AMOLED i think), but that's the least you could expect from a €900+ device. I'm sure Samsung could offer twice the performance for the same price.

@kimdalanxa I do not agree with the fact that Samsung (not LG) provides the only bright display. Display resolution is 480x800 and is very accurate. Certainly, the same as the iPhone, or better. Watching movies in HD is a pleasure. It has a camera that can record HD video. For example, a 10-minute video takes 700 mb. Videos and pictures are amazing. Applications and games that I use work just as well as the iPhone and there are really large number.

I have to say the blacks are really black and the viewing angle is crazy, BUT, we now want a comparison with the iPhone 4's retina display, which has a better viewing angle than the 3GS, better colors and of course a far higher pixel density than any other display on the market, in fact technology isnt far enough to reach such a pixel density on an oled display.

i gave my iphone3 and recently my iphone 4 to my children after i got a new wave from the local dealer. the color is much much more stunning. the new bada is quite useful, and the thing is 'fast'. the internet connection and vdo quality is superb. my best decision on smartphone so far in the past 2 years :)

I got my S8500wave now since about 2 months and damn i´m still in love with that little bastard! i hope the samsung appstore will get more popular at the moment there arent that much apps only about 2000 and some new Browser would be awesome!

I am not saying that the iPhone 3G and 4 are poor equipment, on the contrary - the iPhone is a very good phone but it falls to me worse than the Wave. And when it comes to price Wave is two times cheaper than the iPhone.

And as for the battery - lasts 3-4 days always at the optimum use. Bada os. Samsung has yet Galaxy S which is the same as the Wave. The only difference Wave and Galaxy S is such that the Galaxy has Android and 4-inch screen. is so far a new system that is growing very quickly. On a daily basis in the lounges I have access to the iPhone 4 and in my opinion, the Wave used better.

It's SUPER AMOLED not AMOLED. Alot phones have AMOLED, but only Samsung have SUPER AMOLED. Can you compare Galaxy S and Wave screens? lol

cool things ? the new games sensor is rly amazing and the 30 fps hd camera....if you want a good phone i recomend to every1 samsung omnia hd... yes it had 24 fps hd recording....and yes it has a 600mhz proccesor......but with the hx v5 turbo firmware is the fastest phone ever....(and it has amoled screen) :D

@MultiCakeMix Hell no. It's just that the blue, red and green components look so bright they "spill" over all the intermediary colors.
I find the white (of a web page for instance) nevers looks white on the Galaxy S or the Wave. There's a blue tint about it.
There's not much to say about iPhone 4. It's a really first class screen (far better than AMOLED i think), but that's the least you could expect from a €900+ device. I'm sure Samsung could offer twice the performance for the same price.

The world has gone mad if people would actually cry about that. And iPhone4 users would probably be the same people who bought the 3G or 3Gs. Another last advice for life: Be happy with your phone if it works, and keep it. Even if it's an old Nokia 3310, because the next phone you buy will almost last as long than the one you bought before. Even if you spend 200 more on it. No hard feelings though.

And the iphone on the video is a iPhone 3gs, from 2007. 3 years ago. and they still compare it to todays phone. when was the last time you saw a 3 year old samsung getting compared to a phone today?

@kompot90 I agree that the iphone watever model without jailbreak suxx, but a jailbreaked iphone is far better then those android phones, i have an iphone 4 and one A1 android phone! im running froyo on my droid A1 and Os 4.1 jailbreaked on my iphone 4 and dude iphone 4 really blows my droid out.... those companies like smasung,lg etc are just offering big and bright displays that consumes all the battery in less than a day, what about the retina display? what about the screen resolution?

@kimdalanxa I do not agree with the fact that Samsung (not LG) provides the only bright display. Display resolution is 480x800 and is very accurate. Certainly, the same as the iPhone, or better. Watching movies in HD is a pleasure. It has a camera that can record HD video. For example, a 10-minute video takes 700 mb. Videos and pictures are amazing. Applications and games that I use work just as well as the iPhone and there are really large number.

I have to say the blacks are really black and the viewing angle is crazy, BUT, we now want a comparison with the iPhone 4's retina display, which has a better viewing angle than the 3GS, better colors and of course a far higher pixel density than any other display on the market, in fact technology isnt far enough to reach such a pixel density on an oled display.
