  • I've handled many thousands of live cartridges. As long as you don't bang on the primer

    (the rear end) you can carry it safely in your pocket without any danger of discharging.

    The cartridge casing has smokeless (modern) gunpowder in it and isn't dangerous

    as is the very old black-powder type. Don't worry; take it home, shine it up and put

    it in your "found" box.
