The entire album is amazing, and their best work as far as I'm concerned. It's rare for me to find a band that I can listen to their entire greatest hits and not skip a song. It's also worth nothing that almost the entire Royal Scam album is on the greatest hits collection.
"The Royal Scam" is Steely Dan's best work in an amazing body of work. I thought that "Aja" was their "end-all-to-be-all" album, but, "Scam" edges it out by a hair.
There's a certain dissonance in the harmonies here that just cries out for resolution; I think that's what makes this such a satisfying piece of music for me. YMMV
I believe in 500 years nobody will remember stuff like hippopp (shit!), rihanna, beyoncé, timberlake, spears, etc. but an important chapter in the "great book of music" will be surely dedicated to Donadl and Walter

Amazing album...this and Katy Lied are my favorites (although Aja is pretty amazing too). I still have all 3 on vinyl....don't know why I never replaced them on CD.

I'm tired of giving my money to people whom I've already bought the same album from in a different format. I think the song is about corruption and cheating people. I don't believe it to be one of their better songs due to the beat.
