  • Thank you for sharing this, I have this album "old fashion vinyl record". Love it!

  • I I was a vey close personal friend of Dottie's. This a recording that she recorded with the back up vocals of a black choir when she was in the United Pentecostal Church Int'l. Of course the hair gives that away. The KKK marched in Tupelo MS and demanded that she take this album off of the racks. She had death threats, came out on stage and said if you want to kill me here I am.

  • Dottie was annointed from her head to her toes!

  • Dottie Rambo inspired Elvis a lot! They both came from Pentecostal religious backgrounds. They say that Elvis wanted Priscilla to wear her hair like Dottie. Look at the Elvis and Priscilla wedding photos. The Elvis suit that he gave Dottie was auctioned in New York after her death.

  • Dottie wrote over 2500 songs!!

    Pretty awesome accomplishment!!

  • lol I love it! DOttie Gospel A-go-go

  • Dottie wrote music that could be sung across all genre's she was an amazing writer and true talent. I think I am her biggest fan!

  • Right said. I am impressed that she could also perform each of her songs very well on her own with little or no editing. The woman had a balanced sense of reality that governed her interpretation of sacred themes. They weren't just Gospel Songs, they were post modern hymns that became the face of Christianity as most of us know it.

  • Even though I love all of Dottie Rambo's music. She in her younger years was a very good insturmentalist and really was unusal for being a female guitar player in Southern Gospel music. her balanced sense of "interpretation" was spending alot of time on her knees praying.

  • She literally wrote and performed her own music. I can't single her out for spending alot of time on her knees praying because so many have. It's a vital part of the lifestyle of faith. Dottie, however, could convey these spiritual themes with a clarity and style that very few could accomplish. Which gives here sole owner ship of her talent. We call it "Southern Gospel" today but when she started it was not very lucrative. In fact, it was just "Church Music". She transformed the industry.

  • Dottie: there'll never be another.

  • Was not Mahalia Jackson the queen of Gospel Music?

  • It depends on what you would consider queen of gospel. Dottie is consider queen in the gospel sector of music I think because of her contribution to the genre.

  • It's like comparing apples and oranges. I'm curious if Mahalia ever sang a song written by Dottie? If so, I would love to hear it! I love Mahalia, too. Queenly women, both....

  • I love Old Southern Gospel Music. I also love Black Gospel Music and especially I like to go to black churches. Mahalia is good too!

  • Elvis Def. got his singing style from Dottie.

  • This is the Dottie I remember best.....Love this lady...

  • I remember her when I was a teenager singing with big ole' guitar. She has inspired me musically and still does.
