  • This IS the name of the star base, and to express it properly, you need to sing it and do dance it.

  • Thank you Picard! Now it is no longer very cold...in space

  • It'd be fantastic if someone dubbed music to back him up on this video.

  • @ingeneousman52 Not so much. He changed key at least once during the song. Not everyone can sing acapella.

  • @Largo64 That said, I enjoyed it a lot!

  • I heard on the Nerdist Podcast that this was a private video Stewart made for Gene Roddenberry for his birthday and it was never supposed to get out... Oops!

  • Would've been funny if John de Lancie popped up behind Tactical at 00:51.

    "Q?!?"

  • lmao that look at 0:06 is pricelesssss

  • Q...

    Q!?

Also, props for 'Zed' not 'Zee'

  • He can walk again!!!:D

  • was this sesame street?

  • @3lannister It may have been shown there, but the original is from the extras on a DVD.

  • @custommadename It was filmed for Gene Rodenberry's birthday, it was never actually broadcast

  • @custommadename Actually, Patrick and his wife recorded this for Gene Roddenberry's Birthday :D

  • Possessed by Q. Knew it all along P

  • I can't stop laughing. Oh Jean-Luc, you made my day. If I weren't the man I am I'd kiss ya.

  • Its a birthday joke for Gene Roddenberry a couple of years before his death.

  • lol

  • This always makes me feel better when I'm upset :)

  • @JessieLightyear Glad I could help! Keep your chin up, and keep watching Picard do his thing.

  • is this a blooper??

  • Can you imagine what that starbase is like?

  • Lol! Zed!

  • AHAHAHAAA WTF!!

  • Ladies and gentlemen! Deputy director of the CIA Mr. Avery Bullock!

  • If I was in a place I could laugh out loud. I would have.

  • weasly- um.... sir I dont think thats a starbase

  • Patrick Stewart is the bestest.

  • No there's actually a starbase named this.

  • so thats what picard does in hes spare time

  • Less Q-Q, more pew-pew

  • I found this hard to watch!

  • This video was made as a tribute to Gene Roddenberry. Its on one of the DVDs

  • the borg dont stand a chance

  • This is the last time we leave Picard alone on the bridge.

  • Insta-gay Show Tunes Singin' Picard! Now with rainbow shooting action! =P

  • Owww. it`s sooo cute :)

  • Q... Q?!?!!??

  • *facepalm*

  • Awesomeness!

You did good, Baldilocks, you did good.

  • This was made by Patrick Stewart and the series crew for Gene Roddenberry's birthday, probably in 1990 (by his costume.) He does say "Gene, you're adorable," but I think a lot of people don't notice, thinking he's saying "Gee, you're adorable." Sir Patrick carries a tune pretty well here and in a couple of episodes. Almost makes me disappointed they never did a full musical episode.

  • Picard: Engage!......Okay, everybody can come back on the bridge now, I'm done.

    *everybody files back in*

Picard: Sorry, had to get that out of my system. You have the bridge, number one.

  • this is the greatest video ever. full stop

  • I've now officially learnt this whole thing off by heart. And oh god, it feels so good.

  • @Aluvex Thank you very much! Enjoy your new pastime!

  • This is the longest name for a star base I've ever heard.

  • See: watch?v=7WGg8aTJjbw

  • I see someone watched too much Justin Bieber

  • Was this for Sesame Street???

  • Q, ... Q?!!!! lol

  • yes this is an episode i follow star trek every day

  • WTF XD

  • I LOVE BLOOPERS !!

  • Just looked this up on google and apprently this was created in appreciation of Gene Roddenberry.

  • what happened at 0:51 ? did he jam because of his awesomeness?

  • Didn't he do this for Sesame Street?

  • Wesley must be sitting in front of him, staring silently and wondering what the fuck the captain's been smoking now.

  • I've heard of cabin fever....but this is ridiculous. XD

  • I'd like to see him perform with Mordin from Mass Effect 2!

  • Time to get back to space dock Jean-Luc

  • Just went through a marathon of TNG. Didn't come up on this one at all.

this must be some of sort of a studio joke.

  • Love the hat toss at the end.

  • whaaaattt?

  • 0_o WTF?

  • It is obviously Q! Love Q

  • this is on the special features of season 7

  • Am I supposed to love this as much as I do?

  • @TheMchugh123 Yes, and more!

  • Q!....Q!!?

  • This is not from any episode, it was a little sketch Patrick did for Gene Roddenberry(Star Treks producer and creator) at his birthday party. I'm pretty sure it's bonus material on one of the DVD's.

  • @dampbob Your comment will help clear up a lot of confusion. Let's up it for the sake of clarity.

  • Captain Kirk he is not!

  • hahaha

    that is the shit

  • well the thing is that hes origonaly a shakespearingly trained actor and well the idea is... that stuff rocks

as for this, people arn't that sure, some said he was bored, others that it was a birthday preasent for gene roddenbury and others still say it was a dare they didn't thnk he'd do.

  • @axom20 "Shakespearingly"? LMAO

  • wat.

  • This from one of the specials it wasn't actually in an episode, like a bloopers real

  • Hey,gj copying the reddit comments.

  • This is what you get when a serious Shakespearian actor gets bored on his scifi show.

  • @jgkloosterman I'd expect Shakespeare then, wouldn't you?

  • @custommadename sure if ST: TNG wasn't already full of Shakespear references...

  • @aBIOgene515 I guess I never watched it to notice, though I did see a couple episodes. It looked like an all right show, but it had no Elizabethan speech that I could pick up on.

  • @custommadename Not necessarily. If you get really bored you just have to let out some energy and Shakespeare didn't write too many musicals... Although Othello probably could have been done as a rap...

  • Q... Q?!

  • HE"S NOT GAY, HE'S BRITISH!

  • I think this ends any debate about who is the greatest captain on Star trek... ITS ALL ABOUT PICARD!

  • That's a hell of a name for a starbase. LOL

From what I've heard they organised it for Gene Rodenberry after he fell ill. After he died his widow viewed and loved it and it was included in the Star trek DVD's in memory of him.

  • That was amazing. Somehow I can definitely believe it happened on the show.

  • I think this was a surprise for Gene Roddenberry.

when he sat down to watch one of the finishes episodes this was suddenly inserted in as a surprise for his birthday or something

  • ohhh hell no

  • OMG. let me wipe the tears away and wait for my stomach to stop hurting from laughing so hard...That was fantastic! Bravo, Patrick Stewart!!!

  • Oh remember this episode!!!! lolol.. no.. i dont

  • Yorkshire acting FTW!!!

  • What the heck! Hahaha I love this.

  • Now we know what Picard does in his spare time.

  • "what you mean to...Engage!!" XDXDXD lmao

  • that is just total sqrawling on the floor funny

  • He's not gay just British.

  • that sentence will stay with me forever. must remember to use it later.....

  • @42underscore I can't believe I'm stooping this low, but..... "Aren't they the same?"

  • i wanna know where that cane came from

  • Its not from an episode, it was done as a "gift" for Star Trek Creator Gene Roddenberry's birthday one year.

  • LMAO @ 00:51

  • OH MY GOD! *CRYING WITH LAUGHTER!*

  • haha hilarious ending!

  • "engage!"

  • Q - Q?!

    i love this video!

    Engade!!

  • which episode is this in?

  • OK. so, strangeness of this aside... why did Patrick Stewart do this??

  • I'm not sure. Looks like he was just having some odd fun.

  • This is at the very end of the Gene Roddenberry tribute feature on the season 5 DVD...Gene died halfway through season 5.

  • @blackburn55 as Jon Frakes said he is a silly guy and the more time he spent in the US the sillier he became...well that's what that country does to you I guess

  • @blackburn55 It was a birthday gift to Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek

  • This reminds of that "Weapon of Choice" music video, where Christopher Walken starts by slouching on a chair, dances (awesomely) and ends up back on the chair.

That vid & this vid are both made of complete WIN!

  • You know walken choreographed it himself :)

  • Patrick Stewart FTW

  • Q.... Q??!?!

  • wahaha LOL

  • He can sing?!

    Y = YES!!!!

    He's awesome!!!!

  • this must be some afterwork fun on the set lol

  • q.... Q?!

  • Ingenious Easter Eggs are ingenious...

  • Awesome he said Zed

    Canada ftw.

  • don't you mean Britain ftw

  • WIN

  • This is the best thing i've ever seen!

  • This was an easter egg on one of the dvd's for the series.

  • This is epic on a massave scale. This needs to be publicised. Prepare for a new meme.

  • hmm... ive been prepared for this for years..your full of false promises =(

  • THIS IS FULL OF AWESOME!

  • I'm guessing this was for Sesame Street.

  • I'm pretty sure it was done for Gene Roddenberry's birthday.

  • This is awesome :)

  • MY MIND IS SCARRED.

  • Scarred Mind. You can say that again!

  • O...M...G

  • YES.

  • ... any chance anyone has written down the lyrics for this song?

  • I'm sure I could do it with a few spare minutes. Do you really need lyrics?

  • It's a classic old song. Just google "A You're Adorable" and you'll find them.

  • His meeting with Borg was not good for him.

  • One of my favorite Star Trek songs to date.

  • He did this for Gene's birthday in between sets it was lucky to be caught on tape

  • oh My Good

  • Oh man im putting this on my myspace woohoo ^_^

  • patrick stewart is a god among ants

  • what a baller

  • lol... oh and by the way it's jon's birthday

  • I should start watching star trek

  • Guy is a talented actor and performer. I only hope I can do something like that at his age.

  • Yes, i think this was for one of Gene's birthdays. Picard is probably my most favourite character in Star Trek , but then again i've never watched more than 10 episodes of DS9 or Voyager. Not many from TOS, either. I guess we'll be seeing what Kirk is supposed to be like young, in a month...even though it's not supposed to be the same.

  • AWESOME! It could only be Picard

  • wut.

  • I'm pretty sure it was a video made for one of the cast's christmas parties. If you listen closely at the start he dedicates it to Gene, as in Gene Roddenberry

  • Isn't that from one of the Q Episodes?

  • this is so funny

  • the only man alive who can break out into a song like that and look good doing it.

  • That's not gayness, it is... PICARDNESS, one hundred times more awesome.

  • he aint gay

    he just like singing!

  • I'm not sure. This video doesn't at all help determine it.

  • no, he's not. He has a wife.

  • WTf at the end ENGAGE xD

  • patrick stewart.....so versatile. amazing man

  • I think beyond what a treky can know. Picard is a stale character. The only life Picard had was what Stewart brought him.

  • "i think beyond what a treky can know."

You speak as if enjoying Star Trek limits your capacity to think.

The only life any of the Star Trek characters had was what Steward brought them, so you defeat your own argument.
