  • Hi! I'm new to sewing and your video is great! Errr the only thing I don't get is how to convert my circumference to radius. I visited the site you provided, thank you, but feel lost once there. Thanks!

  • @LaRockera78 The simplest way would be to put the circumference into a calculator and divide it by 3.14, which gives you the diameter. Then divide that by 2 and you have your radius. (Or you could divide by 2 and then by 3.14; whichever way you get the same number.)

  • @wafflingviolinist Thank you!

  • This is just what I was looking for thank you - bought some cute hot pink material with navy blue spots and wanted to make a flowy skirt for summer!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Thanks - I was looking for a tutorial like this, although I think I will add a zip rather than an elasticated waist. Saying that, I may try this for starters anyway as it looks quicker and easier!

  • great instructions, thanks it was very helpful!!!

  • How many yards of fabric did you get?

  • @jamiekinsx

Hi 50" = 1.4 yards (width) and 60" just under 1.7 yards (length)

  • @jamiekinsx

    Hi

50" = 1.4 yards (width) and 60" just under 1.7 yards (length). Although if you didnt want to do the scarf basically 1 and a half yards would be enough (depending of course how tall you are and length you wanted the skirt to be). Thank you!

  • make an scarf with the extra fabric is great

  • Can't wait to try it! Thanks for putting it together. I'm 5' 4" so most skirts look ridiculous on me it they are not the petite length.

  • cool. thanks, I've got a few things I canuse this for. the last part that said "brought to you by wild annus" made me do a double take lol

  • This tutorial is helpful. Just what I've been looking for! :) Uhm, the only thing that's a little vague to me is how do you attach the waistband to the skirt? Do I have to assemble if first or sew it right away then close the circle later? Thanks

  • @flimsybutterfly

Hi you sew the ends of the waist band elastic together, then you sew to the waist of the skirt, stretching the elastic as you go, checking the tension you put on the elastic as you go to ensure even distribution of the elastic (so it's not alot more gathered in one spot than the others), hope this helps.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS EASY VID. i am going to a school sock hop so i need a poodle skirt :)

  • This song has a good hand-jive beat....I was kinda doing that while watching this^^

  • Thanks to everyone for your feedback, glad this has been helpful

  • How exactly do you use the website? I need to make one for a Nifty Fiftys party I'm having

  • @nativehoney5 You enter your hips mesurement in circumference and you divide by 2 the diameter that it gives you. For example My hips mesurment is 38 inches it gives me 12.09 inches diameter I divide it by 2 and it gives me 6 inches this is my radius !

  • I made a wonderful skirt using this tutorial! Thanks so much!

    Jaimseygirl

  • great tutorial! thank you!

  • You could even attatch a belt buckle to the eleastic to make it look like you're wearing a belt!

  • Amazing. I followed this and made a AMAZING skirt ~<3 thank you so much for posting this.
