@guillotinedeath They're both great but 2010 is the revised version. I would recommend going with that. No Boundaries is taught note-for-note in Speed Lives.
Doug Marks? Damn I grew up with this guy through all his lessons first on cassette circa 80's,then had some on video.Glad to see hes still around doin what he does best!
its funny how MAB keeps playing guitar while the camera guy is talking to him because the camera guy keeps trying to get his words out and MAB is there like "weedly weedly weedly" thumbs up for lack of finger rest!
@ConVikk2112 He doesnt have to bend the same way you dont have to sweep. But if he needs to...i bet he is doing it better than you....lol..Of course you have realized he was just making a joke but i guess the brain doesnt work that well after all that slow blues double stop filled playing.i ll tell MAB to...8 finger tap your...ass....to get you started..lololol.
@accadacca100 It's a string dampener that Michael invented. He explains all about it in the Speed Kills 2010 DVD. It acts to mute the strings and sounds similar to a palm mute and stops unwanted string noise. He uses it for the lesson videos to keep the sound extremely clean. When you're playing with a band a little string noise is acceptable. You can't even hear it. When a heavily distorted, overdriven guitar is played without background instruments every unwanted sound is obvious.
i have a question. by "unwanted string noise" do you mean sour notes? you can get rid of any unwanted string noise by your natural muting technique from what i understand. i can't see any way that a string dampener isn't cheating.
@Fluffypopcicle Cheating? This isn't a game. That's almost like saying it's cheating to amplify the guitar. Michael uses the string dampener to keep his technique sounding clean (no unwanted open strings ringing) when doing some complicated techniques. When you're using both hands on the fretboard to play a technique sometimes it's impossible to keep open strings from feeding back. That's what the dampener is for. It's like having a third hand.
subconscious mind is right.....tensing up you muscles and making funny faces isn't what makes you play faster, or better. It's all hard work, hours and hours of good practice.
1:56 is the best little part of youtube lol and then "who is ben(d) notes anyway?"

It's not the subconscious mind at work here. It's muscle memory (a.k.a. motor skills) facilitated by in part the cerebellum...

@sumopub It is a revision of Speed Kills. Still, only about 30% is the same. It's still designed with one thing in mind....shred guitar technique.
