  • This man.......... You can't hear me but I'm just clapping' I have no words

  • i'm almost convinced by the voice really, tehee

  • NABUO EUMATSU a gal ? Nah, just a cover voice :)

  • I wanna meet this guy so bad. My dream as a career is either to be a composer or a director of some sort, or something to do with music, but I really wanna meet this guy some day, and hopefully I will be able to before he passes away. Ugh it's sad to think about. I'm gonna ball my eyes out when he does. I love Nobuo Uematsu!!

  • @masterassassin1 Dude just go to Distant Worlds as VIP. You get to meet him and Arnie Roth very briefly. He was also sat like 4 seats away from me during the concert ;D

  • I thought that he was a woman speaking! I feel bad now... :\

  • Oh my God I fucking love you Nobuo

  • omg Nobuo sounds like an old American woman! >:(

  • subsss!!! i wanna hear his real voiice!! :D

  • what a modest and lovely man lol

  • amazing that we was there when square was just 20 people.

he's a genius, and is already legend status.

  • its none of my business, but he's in his 50s and hes got no kids? whoa

  • Why do they have a girl dubbing him?

  • @MetalBru01 Maybe because she was the only one that knows japanese...

  • @scorpionboy3 No, thats not how it works. They would of got someone to translate what he was saying, wright it down and then read it out. If she was the only one that knew japanese then she could of got someone else to read out what she translated.

  • @MetalBru01 youre right, it only works that way if it's live

  • Anyone agree this would have been a more compelling interview had it been subtitled instead?

  • I remember playing Final Fantasy games for the Super Nintendo back when I was a kid. I didn't realize video game music had such an impact when a few years later I enter an Electronic Boutique's store and there on display was Final Fantasy 7 playing a very familiar theme. I just stood around the display screen wanting to listen to the whole theme and thinking... I best pre-order this game.

  • 13:35 The background music: My personal Favorite =D

  • this guy is a legend

  • The choice of voice ruined it for me... kinda awkward seeing Nobuo talk and a girl's voice coming out lol...

  • God this is why bad dubbers should lose their jobs... well, IMHO she's doing her job properly but whoever decided a female voiceover would be good should be hanged.

  • Nobuo Uematsu needs no real children, his music will carry his legacy for all time!

  • FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--

    RAGE

  • FFX

  • THIS IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE REGARDING GETTING DEGREES ... HE MADE IT .... HE IS SELF EDUCATED, TRAINED HIMSELF .... AN EXAMPLE OF DISCIPLINE AND DESIRE TO ACCOMPLISH HIS GOAL.... IS THE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING AT THE END OF THE DAY WHAT IS IMPORTANT

  • i dont know what he talked at 01:00 but he talked ! o.o

  • Its hard to watch having a female voice over.. :/ Id rather have read english subtitles...

  • at 12:41 i couldn't pay attention to the interview anymore because of sephiroth's song... damn you ADD!!

  • nobuo uematsu such a legend...so many final fantasy music put me through amazing emotions..

  • Elton John should meet Nobuo Uematsu!!!! not the other way around.. x)

  • this guy is a legend

  • i really liked this video :P

  • BLACK CHOCOBO FROM HELL!!!

  • If I wanted to hear some slut rant at me, I'd go listen to Rebecca Black instead. Fuck you.

  • i never knew he sounded so feminine

  • If I ever had the chance to meet this man, the first thing I would do is kneel down to him. He deserves that much respect.

  • Thank You, Master Uematsu. I want to learn to compose like you, and follow in your footsteps. This really helped.

  • @justa16thnote I follow that

  • 2 years later I'm still mad this is dubbed instead of subbed.

  • a true legend, i hope he does the soundtrack for FFXV

  • lol good god hes my hero!!

i just remembered this one time a couple of friends and i were playing around with this keyboard and we ended up playing this music that we thought it would fit for a dungeon theme lol XD

so those 10 min theme songs really happen lol lucky him cuz he actually made a masterpiece unlike us lol

  • 17 people have obviously never played final fantasy

  • Good..he's one of my favorite composer ever..

he gave me a lot of inspiration..

  • I wish he would come back to Final Fantasy. He brought that series to life and gave it a soul you know what I mean? God he is such an inspiration!

Dont get me wrong, FF12 was ok and FF13 is bad ass...But...Something about Nobuo's work just makes the games shine.

  • 1337 music he does yes

  • @MovingUpp

Either you're an idiot, or one of the funniest people ever. Or both. Lol.

  • Which instrument did he say he wish he knew how to play?

  • @chrisrich1990 Timpani?

  • WE ARE NOT WORTHY WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!!

  • He is like CHUCK NORRIS in music! xD

  • I've heard some black women who sound like men, but This asian guy REALLY sounds like a young woman!

  • His music has literally changed my life. I swear to God. I will always remember Final Fantasy. Everytime I listen to a song, it takes me back... All the memories. I love Uematsu. I will cry my heart out when Uematsu dies, like the whole world got a deep scar from Michael Jackson`s death.

  • He is a creator of magic songs

  • He's so talented!!

  • If I met this king among men I'd give him a crushing (yet girly) bear hug. His music bypasses the brain and goes right to the heart :O

  • FFFFFUUUUU dub translation fucking sucks!!!!

  • Legend!!!!

  • Why the hell can't we hear him ? Subtitles wasn't enough ?

  • @Otakiron Nope. Only a womans voice would work apparently ;)

  • lol it would be awesome to have nobuo uematsu as my mailman!

  • if I was nobuo I would not have let them use a girl to narrate me lol

  • Wow.. composed the Final Fantasy Prelude, that is now the staple of the series, while being pressured to come up with a piece in under 10 minutes? He really is something special.

  • they really should have subtitled it, we can't hear him talk :'(

  • 11:27 - hearing the background behind the Sephiroth music is so damn cool! thank you to whoever made this video. thumb up

  • Comment removed

  • its wierd to look at nobuo talkin but hearin a girls voice...but his music is really amazing and unique, the first song i played on the piano while my friends played fur elise, i was the only one who played those who fight.

  • Wark! Wark! Wark!

  • Self-taught?! Been a fan of his since 1997; But i never knew that. Amazing.

  • So Nobuo Uematsu made Otherworld right? Not Rammstein.

  • @Sn0wMaN132 yes. Otherworld was his work. Rammstein never had anything to do with it, nor does it even sound like rammstein. It's in english anyway.

  • I've listened to nearly every Soundtrack, Classical song, and nearly every Video Game song.

I have to say, Nobuo Uematsu has the most emotion and talent enforced upon his music. He is a Legend and will always be remembered by Composers and Fans all around the world.

  • @ShadeLevora i totally agree with you :)

  • Your seriously responsable for my childhood, the final fantasy series really affected me, in a good way though, when i was feeling down i could allways count on you!

  • He should have talked about how otherworld came to be that song is great.

  • LOL he's taking lessons, could you imagine how intimidating it would be to "teach" Nobuo Uematsu XD

  • @ahyoubastards LoL No kidding!

  • @ahyoubastards Yeah, teaching a God :)

  • FAIL! use subtitle for someone as great as him!

  • @amazo88 Lol. I just thought of something...

    Gamespot Headquarters

"Okay, so we got the interview with Uematsu-Guy done. Now, we need to cover it with an English voice. Who should we get?"

    "Leonard Nimoy?"

    "Nah...."

    "O! O! A 20-Year-Old woman!!!!"

    "FUCK YES."

  • @superskeetospro that makes them sound stupid. lol

  • this made me want to go write music. so I did.

  • Why would you use a female translator for a male person?

  • Nobuo Uematsu is a genius godman. He must be in possession of the universe.

  • eematsu looks so humble

  • HE IS MY FAVOURITE GEEZER! apparently he's as old as my dad........who is less of a geezer

  • Nobuo Uematsu= GOD!

  • fucking publicity, I want t see the video :S:S:S:S

  • lol, dubbed by a woman.

  • @gjoerulv I don't like it being dubbed by a woman.

  • If Uematsu has a rival at all it's Mitsuda. I think they stand above all!!!

  • he is better then mozart ......just admit it!!!!!

  • MY IDOL!!!

  • For me he's the best!

  • He also wrote the soundtrack for Oh ! My Goddess The Movie.

    What a genius ! =)

  • Nobou Uematsu.... Delivering my mail? O.O

  • Heeehe love how he said timpani :D

  • The greatest video game music composer of all time.

Hell one of the greatest composers of all time. I can not think of anyone who has written music that touches me in the same way.

  • Why is Nobuo Uematsu's voice translated in a female voice? He's a man for crying out loud! >.>

  • I wish I could've heard him talk while reading subtitles... I hate voice overs :(

  • I MET THIS MAN! I was shaking after the encounter because I couldnt believe I had actually met the man, I even have his picture and he signed my Final Fantasy VII!

  • @Masterheart was it at anime boston? casue thats where I saw him.

  • Yo check out that sweet rag. I knew Uematsu rolled with the Bloods.

  • @dragonclaw9000 rofl!

  • Didn't know he didn't have a formal education in music. Amazing.

  • Uematsu is such an idol! Sorry to spam but I'm a young composer who is hoping to write music for games in Japan so if you would like so see some new music from young composers feel free to visit my channel!

  • My favorite composer of all time, and that includes films and television- he and John Williams are simply the best at what they do! Would be SO nice if he'd continue to do music for the FF series, even though he no longer works directly for Square-Enix.

  • it's amasing how the greatests composers are also the more humbles !!!

this guy is a genius !

  • Nobuo Uematsu is undesputedly the don of video game music. He is perhaps the industry's most reviered composer. It warms my heart to hear how humble he remains in the face of his legacy.

  • If you shuffle through my Zune, I guaruntee at least half of the music is composed by Nobuo Uematsu. I have most all of the music from FF7and FF8 on there. People think it's weird that I can listen to instrumental music, lol. His music speaks, just not through words XD

    Luv you forever Nobuo XD

  • @MoogleEJA

    Agreed wholeheartedly

More than half the music on my iPod is classical/romantic and video game soundtracks

I have the likes of Russel Brower (from Blizzard entertainment) with the World of Warcraft and Echoes of War soundtracks

I have Koji Kondo, Hitoshi Sakimoto (FF12) and most if not all the final fantasy soundtracks composed by Uematsu-senpai.

  • i'm not saying the music is bad in ffxiii, but I been playing so far for like 17 hours (been playing bad company 2 too much online) and the music - while good - isnt memorable , except the battle theme.

  • Yeah...that last bit about aspiring musicians was nice. And seems very relevant for this time in music. I think a lot of people are listening to music and being influenced to play music a certain way or a certain style...when they hear something they like or something that is doing well for the time. I hear so much music today that sounds quite similar that it just makes me sick. Don't get me wrong...there are a lot of gems out there. Be original...be yourself.

  • This was uploaded on my birthday last year!

  • Thanks for uploading!!!!!!!!!!!! Really inspired me!!! GOD BLESS!!

  • wow I love his piece of advice for musicians at the end... thank you nobuo for that :)

  • I would love Nobuo Uematsu to be my mailman. Then I can ask him to drop signed copies of his soundtracks in my mailbox.

  • Nobuo Uematsu: God of Music.

    nuff said.

Fun fact: he originally dreamed of being a pro wrestler as a kid.

  • @animehero402 haha thats hilarious.

  • aye

  • @animehero402 He also never had any formal education for music composition

  • Nobuo: Pro Mail Wrestler

  • cant believe it only took him less than 10 mins to make that ff theme its a masterpiece

  • interesting, i didn't know he sounded like a lady

  • that not his voice if you were serious about that comment..

  • Nobuo Uematsu = genius

  • @VanzLamperouge I agree. He is a really genius

  • @VanzLamperouge, if Uematsu is a genius, then what is Beethoven?

  • @KhagarBalugrak beethoven was a rockstar back in his days. Beethoven aside from Mozart was a rebel. same goes for uematsu. for every sucker that thinks game soundtracks are always 8-bit sounds some words: old times are old.

  • @moeloehoe, Uematsu in no way compares to Beethoven or Mozart. They are millions of miles apart. Uematsu is decent at what he does, but he is not a staggering genius like Beethoven and Mozart were.

Uematsu wrote some exciting, moving music, granted...but have you listened to Beethoven's fourth piano concerto?

  • @KhagarBalugrak let me explain a bit: uematsu was a rebel in the gaming industries since not many games had the "orchestral feel" to it. i did not compare Beethoven or Mozart from their style to Uematsu that wouldnt be a fair statement. Mozart and Beethoven, etc they are Legends. As for Uematsu he has the most influence in the gaming industries while he lives. But still Game soundtracks (where he most performs) are a niche and not that big worldwide. sry if it sounded like you said.

  • @moeloehoe, yes, I guess you could say Uematsu was a rebel. I do admire him for doing what he does regardless of whether people classify him as a "professional" or not. Many "professional" musicians do not love music at all, and it shows in how they play and what they write...

  • @KhagarBalugrak amen to that :)

  • @KhagarBalugrak I've listened to Beethoven's whole cd and it isn't near as good as half of Uematsu's songs...Sure Beethoven's stuff is a little more technical but music isn't about being technical it's about what sounds good or not.

  • @KhagarBalugrak

Hmm...I guess you are right. Its true that Beethoven and Mozart are, how did you put it? "Millions of miles Apart" From Uematsu in terms of Technicality, Theory etc. But for laymen like me XP (people who don't study music) Its not about the technicality or theory behind the piece, but how I can relate to the music.

For me, I can feel Uematsu's music without thought, as if i naturally KNOW what he's saying through his music. While with Mozart, I have to really THINK about it...

  • @OtaCat, I sympathize with you on this one. I really do. Technicality is overrated...and that's not why I consider Beethoven better than Uematsu...it is, as you say, about relating to the music. Uematsu does make you feel things, to be sure. But since his music repeats endlessly...it eventually becomes boring. That's not his fault - video game music must repeat endlessly - but if I'm going to compare him to Beethoven, he'll need to write music that doesn't endlessly repeat.

  • @KhagarBalugrak

You Sympathise with me? Please, I don't need your pity.

If you feel that Uematsu's Music "repeats endlessly..." and "eventually becomes boring" That's fine, but remember, thats your opinion.

However I can tell you now that Uematsu didn't get famous from simply 'repeating music endlessly'. And if you still think Uematsu's music is boring, even after listen to all his compositions. Then I guess You're in a different class of your own, and we must agree to disagree.

  • @OtaCat dudes....lol, they play different styles of music, you guy's are seriously trying to argue about this? Nobuo plays the notes so that it feels, and combined with the video game, it actually makes you feel the music even more. I know this because in Phantom Dust, they had Chopin's Nocturne, and it felt totally different. But in the end, it's music and it's great. If it wasn't for beethoven nobuo wouldn't be here making the same music right now...bach, mozart, debussy...etc....so just enjoy

  • @VanzLamperouge imagine how much better FF XIII would have been if he did the score. At least his personally employed apprentice did the soundtrack for that one. Closest you could get to the man himself.
