I own this car, and they make it sound and look like shit. It's a good car. Nice and roomy and powerful. The engine sounds good! Idk what they're talking about.

Yeah, it does suck at acceleration, but it's a perfect car for regular driving.

lol this shows the total ineptness of american car manufacturing.  the 500 lasted a grand total of 2 years before being discontinued. HAHA. That turnover rate rivals a japanese car. I'll stick to tried and true german engineering. Hey if you have the means, why not?

@pepsibottleq ...not sure what all the hype about the taurus is. Its just a cheaper, more affordable, typical sedan. Don't like the look or the performance on older models. 2008 is aaigh, I can see they're trying to bring it back. But i'd take the 500 personally (just my opinion though).

im a ford fan but ford dropped the ball with the 500...it had pretty much the same duratec 30 as my 01 SES...same 203hp/200 tq motor:( and the CVT made it worse... the rest of car was actually pretty good. according to car and driver the platform was good, interior was good but engine/tranny combo ruined the whole car. it needed the new duratec 35 the 08 taurus has...

I like Ford too. Why did they replace the hole car and not just the engine and gear box...the 500 design looks like the previus ford mondeo we have in europe..in my opinion the 500 has a better design..

i guess the contemporaty (bland) styling was out, i mean it saved the camry which was king of bland for YEARS. ford wasnt satisfied with it...i think even bill ford was quoted in calling it "boring". im positive the 500 would of gotten a better reception had it been given that new 3.5/6spd auto it sorely needed. they also found that the 500 name didnt resonate with customers like the taurus/sable did. the 08 taurus is everything the 500 was just better in every way.

yup its pretty much a volvo, it uses the same volvo architecture, which is a probobly why its THE safest car in america. i think it got 5 stars in every category. volvo's 4.4 narrow angle V8 would be nice but with gas prices the way they are now, a GDI duratec 35 with the same if not more HP is more likely...o well we can dream cant we??

i test drove the ford five hundred and that engine is hardly powerful even with the continuously variable transmission in the all wheel drive model and is very loud.also if pushed hard can tip over also alot ugglier
