  • Three things >.>

1.) Their were some CREEPERS at that con right there.

2.) The guy holding the camera was pretty funny

3.) ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER

  • and still I have yet to see a fursuiter play guitar...

  • Wow, the "dragon balls guy" looks slightly autistic...

and bears a striking resemblance to myself.

  • oohhh so cute

  • the song just is great with this video

  • important man in a fez LOL

  • The survey aspect sounds alot like the kind of survey I got from the Scientologists in the mail (they have a building downtown). They had all these questions that honestly, had no reason to it! Two of the questions were: Can you whistle? Do you feel overwhelemed during the time you are at work? I was blown away by it!

  • This is one lovely video you made there. I approve!

  • "If you mess with furries, you mess with the internet"? Are you serious?

Let me do the math for you.

There's about 12000, MAYBE more on the internet. Only a few thousand of those have the balls to actually go to Anthrocons. The rest don't even take their furry loving off the internet.

As I post this, 25,000 furry-haters (atleast that I know of) are online. Not on YouTube, just the internet itself. That's only a fraction of them, and they outnumber ALL the furries.

    Math class is over.

  • Where do you get your statistics? Cite your sources, please.

  • Also you don't do RESEARCH! the first furries appeared in the 1960's BEFORE internet access was available to the public!

Get your facts at a library NOT the internet, the internet is a WORTHLESS place to get research.

    "Kathie LEE YIFFER!"

  • Damn. There goes my thesis on Furology...

  • Actually, you're wrong to say to go against furries is to go against the internet,I mean there's probably only AT MOST 5000 furries, and to think THEY control the internet when internet is free to some 4.32 BILLION people, I'm SURE the majority is NOT furries.

And congrates to you, to say only MOST suffer, however, you'd be surprised, most are not social innept people, most are the same as you and me, and some are also school mascots ha ha!

  • 1:36min autumn foxy! =^.^=

  • Settle a bet. Man or woman?

  • In the suit man.

  • Er, you made me say it in my post below. That's Autumn Vixen.

  • wat!

  • Nice've you to come!

    Thanks for not trolling.

And the 'which saber to better fight the darkness' was comic gold!

    -wolf furry

  • Yeah, I mean, I am making fun of you guys a bit, but I don't see the point in flat-out trolling. You're not hurting anybody, and we actually had a pretty nice time. Thanks for commenting!

  • Ya, we make fun of our own fanboys the same way you did (see the AC08 opening ceremonies video).

The point in trolling is, well, furries react. You see from some of the posts here, some are overly sensitive. Too many think EVERYONE read the Vanity Fair gonzo journalist piece and think they have an uphill battle to fight with the world. But almost everyone I've shown my AC videos to react positively. The ask questions like "Are they paid?" and "Don't they get hot in there?" and that's it.

  • The only negativity I get is from people who think "wow, what a waste of time" or "you want people WATCHING you like that?" Either highly choleric or very negative ego in their own hearts.

I found out my banker, she was a big paper RP player as a kid. I showed her my AC pics in my camera. She said, "Did you see that CSI episode? It's amazing what BS Hollywood makes up." She dismissed the CSI ep as bunk when she first saw it, years before I showed her her first AC pics.

    Furries, lighten up!

  • mmm...CSI was based on a mix of tv hype, overanalyzation and what people want to see, some of its true, some of its not, Just gotta take it as entertainment and have done with

  • "However, in the swag bag I got with my badge was a rather telling survey which had questions that lead me to believe that a lot of furries suffer from body dysmorphia, social anxiety, and personal identity issues. I truly pity those that do. I have a feeling they are the majority..."

    Not true.

  • Very true. Social anxiety alone covers the majority.

  • No. Not true. If you went there. You can see that most of the people there are very social. So, that means that we are very normal and very social. That's a stereotype. We all don't have anxiety. We're just a bunch of people who like cartoons.

  • "You can see that most of the people there are very social. So, that means that we are very normal and very social."

Can't argue with that "logic"... unless you're older than 12.

I was referring to furries in general, not this particular event. Are you even trying to make a point, or are you just a horrible generic furry troll? Anyone can be social when they're hiding behind a mask and in a costume, the same way every preteen is an e-thug online. Anonymity does wonders for the socially awkward.

  • I'm trying to make a point. I ain't no troll, pal. I'm trying to say that if all of us were not very sociable. Then, the con would've been very boring, none of us wouldn't even talk to each other, and the whole point of this event would've been useless. And that's a stereotype that you are trying to say that furries have social disorders.

  • Okay, I see what you're saying a bit. But furries among furries is different from an ordinary social situation. Think of the most socially awkward and self-conscious person you know. I'm willing to bet that he/she is perfectly "normal" and comfortable being themselves around their friends who are most likely similar. That's how it works with people I know and even myself a bit. But I (and other regular people) don't hide behind a mask when we're uncomfortable, we learn to be less self-conscious.

  • We don't hide behind masks and "demand" to be accepted. We put on costumes to play a character and have fun. To have fun. Plain and simple. It's like what people cosplay at anime conventions, and dressed as androids or certain species in Star Trek and Star Wars conventions, and also dressed as a comic character at a comic convention. It's the same thing. To have fun and play off. Conventions are social gatherings. They're gatherings of people who share similar interests.

  • My distaste for furries isn't due to an unwillingness to accept their lifestyle nor an instant dislike of anything different. I dislike furries because they put on a ridiculous outfit and act as animated as similarly-dressed sports mascots and then demand acceptance as though that behavior is normal. If you like cartoons, great. Why do you have to name yourself JohnStripedfur and shove it down people's throats? I smoke weed but you dont know it - it doesn't consume my personality.

  • I don't shove anything into people's throats. You're putting things into my mouth that I never said. And the furry fandom is not a lifestyle. Homosexuality is a lifestyle. Redneck is a lifestyle. Ghetto is a lifestyle. Being a furry is not a lifestyle. It's just a fandom. Nothing more. Nothing less. We don't demand acceptance. We just hang out at a place and share similar interests with other people. That's all.

And I'm done argueing with you.

  • I can definitely see where you're coming from when it comes to the survey. In fact, most of the people I met at Anthrocon considered the survey almost comical in how disturbing it was.

My personal favorite was that they had a Kinsey Scale (for quantifying homosexuality/heterosexuality) and actually put an "Other" category in it.

Anyways, got a good laugh out of the vid. I'm glad that most people (judging by the comments at least) are able to laugh at themselves.

  • I laughed at the "Kathie Lee Yiffer." remark, but overall found the clip to be rather saddening.

It seems to poke fun, but for no real reason. Who cares what a group of consenting adults do in their own time? =/

The furry fandom may not exist without the internet. Valid point. But fact is the internet is here and it's far, far bigger than furries. There's also multi-billion dollar companies that would not have come to be without the internet. In fact, you're looking at one right now.

  • Well it can be argued that mockery and derision keeps the status quo healthy, but I'm not going to go that route because I'm not sure I believe it.

Yeah, you're right. I am a bit mean for the sake of being mean, and that lack of objectivity does weaken the whole thing. However, this was all kind of impromptu and it took way too long to get over the "holy shit I'm here" feeling for me to do anything more than stand in the corner and snicker.

  • haha good vid mate

  • "Which saber can better I fight the darkness with?" XDDD

Brilliance. Utter brilliance, and I'm a goddamned furry.

  • Kathie Lee Yiffer! ROFL! Love your choice of song. Nice vid!

  • I had no idea what song that was, had to Google the lyrics... A little before my time.

    Grateful Dead, "Teddy Bear's Picnic"

  • You missed me this year, but next year you shall see something good & new.

  • No I shan't.

  • Over all were mostly really nice people and thanks for spending your money at our con ^_^

  • Personally, I was freaked out by the survey. So was my girlfriend and all my roommates. O_o We were all WTF?

But yes, this does show some of the downsides and nerdiness to the furry fandom. Ah, well. It is what you make of it. :P

  • The main purpose of the survey is to put those questions to rest. Lots of people assume stuff about furries, when you get a solid number you've got facts to help.

  • but "PERV" is the most delightful

  • furries are delightful.

  • You can think what you like but the furry fandom isn't all about a fetish. Just like there are people with weird fetishes in the general population, so it is with furries. I don't mind people poking fun or spotlighting these people for embarrassment, but when we get labeled all the same it ticks me off. Why do *you* care what *I* like? I certainly don't give a damn what your interests are.

  • How could furries exist without the internet? Well, I've been a "furry" uhm... forever. I've always drawn animals and anthros; my favorite books when I was a kid were Animorphs and Dinotopia, and I still love Redwall. I've always loved Disney movies like the Lion King, Robin Hood, etc., all without knowing anything about the furry fandom on the internet (the first time I used the internet was about age 11). This AC was my first opportunity to attend a con and I had a blast. :)

  • Right, but what I'm suggesting is, would you have embraced the lifestyle even if you'd remained unaware of the subculture en masse?

By the way, don't get me wrong, although it's not my thing and I'm getting a sick thrill out of poking fun at furries, my girlfriend and I had a lovely time and everyone we talked to was very nice.

  • I don't really consider it a lifestyle, maybe some people do but to me it's more like a hobby. I think it's fun to occasionally dress up in costume; I do not think I am an animal trapped in a human's body or that by wearing a costume it brings me closer to furrydom. I enjoy drawing anthros more than boring ole humans. I think I would still feel this way without the internet, and had I heard about the con w/out it I would have still gone (I knew practically no one there from the net anyway).

  • I fucking lol'd.

    KATHY LEE YIFFER: ART THEFT'D

  • Very lol!xD
