Short lines which operate at about 25 mph indicate a class II track status. This track may very be class III and have a maximum rating of 40 mph.
Wow, they get moving on that old jointed track. My local shortline is either overly cautious or really in that bad of shape, but they only go 10 MPH most everywhere. I assume it eventually picked up some cars...what was its destination?

it was built that way for Erie Mining. Phelps Dodge units had similar tanks.

yep, Carolina Southern is the same way. Flat from Mullins to Chadbourn and hilly from Chadbourn to Conway
