Looks like the "really bad" illegal immigration problem was all perception and no reality. Since the Immigration Resolution went into effect, the police put aside their public safety duties in order to slap 626 arrests or tickets on people suspected of being undocumented immigrants. That was 1.6 percent of all tickets and arrests in the county. Some invasion that turned out to be. And it's costing us $11.3 MILLIONS DOLLARS to do this?????

The videos I am posting today are intended to clarify that "reasonable articulable suspicion" no more exists in Prince William County's immigration policy than in ANY OTHER POLICY IN THE UNITED STATES. Both the Oct. 16th policy and the April 29th policy affirm the Federally protected right that ALL law enforcement officers (and all citizens) are allowed to inquire about immigration status. When you are reacting to "reasonable articulable suspicion," you are reacting to rhetoric; not policy.

I agree the problem in Prince William County has more to do with rhetoric than policy now that the "Immigration Resolution" has been dismantled. But whose rhetoric are we talking about? Is it Corey Stewart, or is it Greg Letiecq speaking through Corey Stewart. Our Chairman does a fine job representing the Anti-Immigrant Lobby, but a poor job representing this community.

Eric, glad to hear from you as I am a proponent of the good work that you do, but what did I miss? Is "racial profiling" not a problem with local law enforcement in PWC and is "reasonable articulable suspicion" not the enabling language?

"Racial profiling" does not apply to immigration enforcement. The issue with racial profiling is that it leads to selective enforcement, ie if you only pull over black males on suspicion of drug transport on I95 then you will only arrest black males for drug transport on I95. Since citizens cannot be guilty of illegal immigration, then racial profiling doesn't apply.

Since it was Chief Deane who said those three words in this video, I can assure you that you are in large degree incorrect to start with. Soon I'll post a companion video about the "Probable Cause" standard. I hope this will shed some light on the subject, and if you have questions you can write to me here.

Its been a year since PWC did their immigration policy. Pwc did something know one did they crackdown on undocumented civilians, now they did humilate and harass alot of legal and illegal hispanics. But to finally end illegal immigration the hispanic community needs to stand up to illegals that enter our country because unless they don't this will just keep happening.

Separation seems to be the real goal in all this - separate the immigrants from the citizens create a sense of fear so they will move out of PWC.

When an officer can detain someone on suspicion of naturalization because of an accent or physical characteristic, it is a blow to freedom everywhere.
