  • nice memories.....

  • One of my favorite songs of all time, also the fact that I've never heard a bad cover version of this is a testament to the songwriting talent of Ray Davies, one of the most underrated musical genius' of our time.

  • Dave and Ray- Heroes of music! Please Reunite!

  • WHYY DID RAY ALWAYS WEAR TRAINERS!! HE LOOKED BETTER WITH SHOES

  • beautiful shortened arrangement, i like Dave´s guitar work

  • This is one of many solid versions of this beauty on YouTube for FREE! Folks, start watching.

  • Do you know where the video of this same performance is where they perform "Hatred"?!

  • Awesome :)

  • The best ever!

  • what a terrific video. it gets no better than this.

  • Great song my fav Kinks tune.Wishing Dave godspeed.

  • Just saw Ray at Borgata in atlantic city, and was waiting for this my fav Kinks tune,He said to say a prayer for Dave whos not doing to good, after a stroke.Great tune .God speed to dave...........

  • Pete Townshend said Ray should be the Poet Laureate of the UK. I'd include the US as well. Gorgeous song - and sung right in the heart of the beast, this night.

  • Dead Sreet is most sordid

  • I have said it a a million times.

Ray Davies was the greatest song writer of the twentiest century.

  • @Luscious09Leah. Yeah he probably was - tho loads of competition from Lennon, McCartney & Brian Wilson.

  • I love you, Ray. You too, Dave. Thanks for your songs, you will always be remembered. xoxoxo

  • My favorite Kinks song of all time

  • great vocal range and contol, expressive and meaningful. welldone!

  • One of the best voices ever.

  • what year is this from??

  • @jdeweyhs Since they show Phobia at the beginning, probably 1993 or 1994.

  • @jdeweyhs 1972 on album "Everybody´s in showbiz"

  • this is one of my staple songs at a steady restaurant gig...all crowds.....all ages...all kinds...everybody likes this song when I play it.........

  • joan jett made a really good cover of this in the same style slow and heart felt

  • ray's finest song

  • this song really proves his lyrical ability. the kinks werent just some band that rocked, they were much deeper than that at times.

  • Repeat...

    Repeat...

    Repeat...

    Repeat...

Such a beautiful song and rendition, such a beautiful man too (with or without the mullet). Thank you for posting, it just made my day. :-)

  • the musical tribute is better, maybe.

  • When was this video made? seems to be some years old.

  • Beautiful song, very moving. Thankyou The Kinks.

  • Yes , thank u The Kinks !! thank u for making me feel melancolic and happy so many days of my life !!

  • Fantastic song in a fantastic version. Never heard it like this. Thank you, Ray and Dave!

  • They may have fought like cats and dogs but they still had a great run. I'll put the KinKs and Dire Straits and Floyd up against the Beatles and Stones and the who any day. JMHO. Dave should have realized his brother was/is one of the worlds great songwriters and enjoyed the ride. It's always better to smell the roses than to step on them.

  • i saw them at the roxy in atlanta. it was really sad. they literally couldn't finish a song together. you could tell they were at the end of the line. rays lyrics stand (and will stand) the test of time against all rock lyricists.

  • they seem to have a fascination in writing about elitists

  • Their harmonies are truly beautiful

  • Just think of what they would have accomplished if they could have just gotten along a little better.

  • j'ai découvert cette chanson dans mon cours d'anglais parce qu'on parlait de la célébrité..trop hot!! :)

  • Wonderful. What a beautiful versiojn, just Ray, Dave and guitars. Thanks so much for posting

  • I hope Dave is doing well. But for me the Kinks, is Ray Davies!

The most charming genius ever :-)

  • Greatest brother duo of all time of recording history!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. There are about 1/2 dozen Kinks songs that rock my world, and this has always been one of them.

  • Imo, the best song from the early '70s Kinks double l.p. "Everybody's in Showbiz,Everybody's a Star", a likable album despite some weak moments.

Avante Garde filmmaker and author Kenneth Anger once turned his famed history of Hollywood's seamy side, the book "Hollywood Babylon" into a live presentation he hosted, with film clips and slide. He used the Kinks "Celluloid Heroes" for theme music! Good choice.

  • Dave, with all my heart, I hope that you fully recover and you are able to do what you love doing best. ....Lauren

  • Dave Davies had a heart attack about a year ago. Haven't heared how he's doing, but that could have done it.

  • Actually, according to Wikipedia Dave had a stroke in London in 6/2004 - He's somewhat recovered but still cannot play the guitar and sing at the same time - thus cannot tour. Reality check for sure!!

  • They were great ! And live even better.

  • That was nice. It was good to see them together.

  • i miss them together why cant they get back ???
