@StrawbeatlePie23 same here. although, it sounds kinda wrong with out the "Hey Josh" live. I've seen them live twice and she did the Hey Josh both times, I mean, they always do. it's a bit weird without it!
also, if you think "money this money that, people don't care", you're insanely ignorant. money has been a great factor in the way society has been formed, since money is ascribed to areas of industrialism, and the arts, as well as many other things. look up "ken robinson ucla" on youtube and watch the whole hour and a half. maybe it will begin to show what the hell i'm talking about. hopefully it will broaden your mind towards the arts, so you won't look for "music" like this any more.
i listen to classical, jazz, most forms of heavy metal, punk rock, blues, old school rock n roll, psychobilly, folk, early gothic rock, drone music, everything. i'm in a goregrind band, and i'm starting a doom band. i fucking love paramore.
you keep saying that music isn't about money, but it isn't about ideals either. if i want to look like, say, ozzy osbourne, i will. and just because some people have the whole idea that if you're in a band you can't make a dollar, doesn't mean everyone doe
i listen to trains, the breeze when it's strong enough, trains, and people jabbering inordinately, among other things. what relevance does this hold to the discussion?
music is ideologically driven, so i don't know what you're on about. if you want to look like ozzy osbourne, that's fine, but that has absolutely nothing to do with musical content. image is only a socially constructed sub-culture of music. as for the money discussion, i wasn't concluding in absolutes, but it's today's standard.
i havent read any of this argument, and have no idea what you guys are talking about. i just wanted to tell you that you seem like the most pompous person ever =/...just wanted to let you know.
you literally admitted your ignorance of the discussion, then you judge me as the pompous one? thank you for your inquisitive and much needed input... just wanted to let you know.
If you want to be pissed/annoyed at somebody, it should be the labels, not the band. They make more money from live shows and appearances than their record sales. It's all one big well oiled machine. The record company gets money from record sales and royalty fees from 'lending' material they have the rights to. They need money to keep the industry going. No income = no capital for newer projects.
i know what you mean. however, i wouldn't say it's solely the labels fault. they do market and engineer for the profit, but this has always been obvious to the musicians, just not the fans that listen. everyone plays a part in it, and it all becomes an overwhelming convoluted circle between the media, the bands, the fans and the label. sometimes the quality of music is lost through all that. it's the musician's incentive to see and act past that.
I know what you mean too. 30 Seconds To Mars was recently sued by their label for not hitting the quota of 3 albums within a certain time frame (I can't remember how many years) and good on 30 Seconds To Mars for not just churning out a shit CD just to shut the label up.
I'm not saying the music industry will totally die out without labels, but it will make good music somewhat difficult to attain. Instead of listening to bands that are being featured, you have to search high and low for some good music fix. Bands need labels and vice versa. Sure, they can do the whole indie thing and record DIY style, but how long can they do that before tiring out/running out of funds?
that's why many musicians have chosen the "independent" label route. with all the networking and connections you can make in the music industry, record companies are becoming less necessary. once there was a big boom for independent labels, sony bmg countered with the pop idol series, which is just another commercial mechanism which annually churns out a sub-par record.
I wasn't referring to indie labels... I was talking about bands/singers actually recording and distributing their materials on their own, using their own funds, the real hard workers. But like I said, they can't really hone their craft 100% because they need an actually job to fund their love for music... which limits them to just releasing releases and not touring at all due to lack of time and money.
YOU'RE the one being irrelevant. seriously, my point has been fucking simple, you just don't get it. any artistic creative endeavour will eventually and undoubtedly reveal intrinsic idiosyncracies of the artist unless that endeavour is for the purpose of money rather than the creative process. sure, they may LIKE music, but i doubt they have a complex philosophy about music itself. image plays no part in music, however if you emphasise those things then the focus isn't entirely on the music.
i've never described anywhere on my youtube page, or here for that matter, that my music is any more "meaningful" than any other music, yet that is the label you've given it. hmm. the background on your page is a good example of misguided musicians; image is not an attribute towards music, but people treat it like it is. the bands you mentioned are also from past generations, when music was less about the money. do you even play music? it requires you walk the path, rather than talk of it.
actually, no, it's not far from unique - point out consistencies if you wish.
i may as well add that you've missed the whole point of the discussion. paramore are just another money-grabber for their record company - a churned out rehash that has no forward momentum, diversity, or individuality. music has nothing to do with money, but the music industry has made money the forefront of its existence. when the ends (money) comes before the means (expression) you get bland, standardised "music".
i DO have videos up, however i consider them incomplete songs, until i can find accompanying instrumentalists. the black clothes/styled hair shit with power chords has already been done before, friend.
she said on LJ that her voice was nowhere near 100% at conan, she got some kind of virus in ze throat at the time or something, they'd just finished touring anyhoo.
i rly love paramore live and acoustic and stuff... i think they are always better than the studio versions.. but this one rly isnt that good, it was my first thought that maybe shes sick... but usually i know that they are awesome live: look at the misery business acoustic video, where she´s wearin the pink tshirt, with the green background it is better than studio version in ma opinion...
