Ralph Nader callin' it exactly as it is! Why can't Americans break the mind control of the twin-party system? Bail out the billionaire Bankers? No Way. Not-for-profit healthcare for all? Hell yes! I "Hope" there's real (Progressive, Humanist) "Change" in D.C. So Far it's not changing much under Obama. End the Iraq War? sure 18 months, maybe. End Afghanistan? nope. Close Gitmo? in a year or so, probably. Patriot Act? solid as steel. Healthcare? Sure, buy Insurance. Drug war? Still fighting.

Oh give me a break. Gore can burn in hell. Well, FGN123- Your rhetorical question avoids the truism that Gore/Kerry?Obama still represent the corporate norm and not the people. lemme guess. black guy who never heard of ralp nader, searches his name then takes his quote out of context. dont act like youre offended, he said he could be great, or an uncle sam. dont turn dumb all of a sudden
im replying to everyone on this page that is mad about the uncle tom comment from Nader... I voted for Nader and yeah he made the right choice by saying I hope hes more of a Uncle sam rather than a Uncle Tom .... people dont even know what Uncle Tom is...
Could Nader be suggesting Hope; Uncle Sam? or Uncle Tom?
In her novel, Stowe intended Tom to be a Noble Hero. The image of him as "a subservient fool who bows down to the white man"came later.Tom was sold to a vicious plantation owner(corporate america) who begins to hate Tom when he refuses to whip his fellow slaves(at home and abroad) Simon Legree(Greed And cruelty) decides to crush Tom's morality, but Tom's shining spirit can't be broken, and he tries to comfort the other slaves best he can!
You might speak your mind without using such foul language-But I "heard you." You have a huge charge around racism! So much, that during your profane name-calling and derogatory condemnations, you forgot to explain why you consider Nader to have made a "stupid comment." You didn't provide reason for why you imply I'm dumb. Of course, Obama sheeplets and the media are going to be all over his statement-for reasons I explained in my previous comment, but that doesn't make N. dumb.
Alot of people voted for Obama because they hope it absolves them of any sins of racism. They're usually quickest to point the finger. However, Nader is not a racist. I believe when he said "Uncle Tom", he was referring to Obama's obsequious fawning before his predominantly white establishment corporate paymasters. "Nader's career over?"..Naaaa-that's just wishful thinking from those who don't have courage to see the truth and have unresolved racism issues themselves. Ralph tells it like it is!
laser "...wishful thinking from those who don't have courage to see the truth and have unresolved racism issues themselves." You're implying I'm racist among other things. Now I'll imply that you're an asshole! And you don't know what the fuck goes on inside my head. Also, I don't wish anything against or wish anything for Nader. Whether his political career is over or not, I don't care. Aside from that, Nader probably isn't a racist. But he made a real stupid comment! Now I'll imply your dumb.
Now I'll imply (or tell you like it is), before I go, that you wanted to attack me and imply I'm a racist, when it's not true, because you're are way defensive about your candidate who uses phrases like "Uncle Tom." What the fuck ever dude! That's all I say in reply to you. Say whatever you want to now. I don't give a fuck. I'm not the one who says Obama is an "Uncle Tom."
Nader just killed his political career a few minutes ago. He was on the news talking to an anchor and Nader says something like, "Now that Obama is elected are we going to have another Uncle Sam or are we going to have an Uncle Tom?" The anchor was pissed after that and then later asks,"Looking back now do you regret saying that Uncle Tom statement?" Nader says, "No!" Nader's done.
He really called him an Uncle Tom? There's some good proof for you guys that he's not as big a genius -- or saint -- as you all think. So stop drooling. He should actually be slapped around a bit for that.
Just voted NADER here in NJ; as I have in the last election.Don't fall for the corporate bullshit, vote for someone you believe in and not for the "Lesser of the two evils" (which means you are by default voting for an evil candidate). Use your heads people and stop watching the main stream media brainwashing. And if you don't like Nader why are you watching this video!?!?
gelidflesh- Obama asks you "to believe". Nader asks you to think. The latter is the basis of a healthy democracy, or what you called "utopia". A healthy democracy has open debates in which citizens are informed of their choices. Healthy democracy doesn't allow big business to fund it's corporate candidates. Healthy Democracy doesn't have a biased media blacking out viable runners in the race. Informed citizens vote their own interests, without choosing media-manufactured images of empty rhetoric
gelidflesh-It's hard to be gullible when you consider Obama's voting record, his foreign advisors, hawkish hints of war while bending over for AIPAC, and hs camaign contributions from nuclear and coal industries, while being bankrolled by WallStreet. In his bio. he states that capital punishment doesn't deter crime, yet he's for it- & voted for legislation that expands cap. punishment offenses. Crime is linked to poverty-yet he doesn't mention america's poor. He doesn't pinpoint Corporate crime.
NEWSFLASH! Record voter turnout in key Battleground States!
Early Exit polls showing RALPH NADER with strong lead over the McCain/Obama Corporation.
Folks, we may have a democracy after all!
Hopefully McCain/Obama wont end up spoiling the election for We The People!
Although big corporate lobbyists are known for stealing elections, media blackout and other dirty tacktics to hold on to the status quo control of Washington.
Just voted for Nader/Gonzalez. To all the Obama sheep who think we'll soon be living in utopia, let's see where we are in four years, eh? Must we go through this "democratic" charade every time? Take time to learn why this country isn't working, and support the voices - local and national - who are fighting to make it work again.
gelidflesh-Maybe you're not completely "brainwashed",-you just don't understand the importance of every awakened citizen voting their conscience. That's how positive change can happen-people understanding how the system works and acting on their conscience.
World leaders like Ralph Nader wouldn't endorse NAFTA or GATT or economic exploitation that corporations profit from with sweatshops. And american workers would have a living wage! Vote for Justice. Vote for Peace. Vote Nader/Gonzalez today!
To have folks like Nader exposing lies is beyond great, but reaching Utopia is another matter. Without blaming Ralph (because I don't), I think we would have been a lot better off with Gore...
"Lesser of 2 evils" is an empty cliche, and it's hard to be too cynical about Obama when you hear his story and listen to him speak.
At least my vote went towards fixing our broken country. I will never again bow to the corporate agenda. You've lost me forever to our fake two-party democracy. It's just a corporate military/industrial oligarchy that masks itself as a democracy. Take that Obama-Incorporated
YOU should be the professional poet, man. On yr last comment -- yeah I considered it was maybe figurative. Of course: coming out of Harvard Law & head of the Review (not the Dept., but still) -- one can't be too adrift after that. But working with "the people" is a different thing and I know that it's a major eye-opener for anyone, so don't look at him as a liar for saying that. Also he might have been groomed a bit but he was top of his law class on his own and he didn't come from privelege
gelidfish-that's a rather flippant attitude about crimes against humanity and mother earth. And "NO", Nader is incapable of such atrocities, because of nis moral integrity,(he doesn't profit from such stock)and most notably, is set on ending corporate controls on politics and govt. "Nobody's Perfect" but noone's got anything on Nader. And because he is the real "change" Demicans fear his message.
By the way, Gore(Mr. Global Warming Alert)couldn't even get Clinton to sign the Kyoto Accords.
Some of you seem to think that anyone who doesn't buy Nader's ideas100% is "brainwashed". No difference between Bush & Clinton, or Bush & Obama? Maybe the real truth is you're not even really looking, you've dismissed everything else as part of "the other." It's narrow-minded, isn't it? Corporations are a part of everything -- look at the computer you're using. I wonder how much of it was put together in a sweat-shop.
You've gotta ask: could things be changed easier from inside -- or out?
I live in Oklahoma and cannot vote for Nader, he's not on the ballot.
Oklahoma is (to my understanding) the only state where a Nader vote is not accepted.
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!
Even if you don't support Nader, you should be incensed.
He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself.
You can write him in, I believe Oklahoma will allow that, but yeah, hearing things like that make me want to moove to a country that knows what democracy is, America sure as hell doesn't.
I loved Gore as an educator in Inconvenient Truth-yet the environmental proponent never said a word about nuclear contamination that went on in Bosnia,Afghanistan and Iraq during the Clinton admin. He also owns stocks in U.S. Enrichment Corp.(Uranium)which contaminated Paducah,Ky. and Portsmouth,Ohio with pollution, and led to the pollution of three nations and the exposure of our soldiers. He's also tied to Occidental Petroleum. Such politics seem to veer from his environmental concerns, sadly.
Yeah I guess that's what they mean by "lesser of 2 evils." But then there's the other cliche "nobody's perfect." And when you're a world leader you gotta get your hands dirty.
Ralph Nader is the only genuine candidate out there. While he continues to disclose the very root of our problems, which is Corporate control of our government, top to bottom, McCain and Obama continue to avoid the issue like Ebola. Choosing instead, to point at each other. There will be no "Party of Change" with these corporate constraints in place, but rather a "Party of Tweak" at best. Will we ever learn?
Obama's owned by the nuclear and coal industries...he lies about "clean coal" technology. He's for offshore oil drilling. He's gonna spend billions on war (with all of its depleted uraniium and environmental destruction!) But ooh! the lesser of two evils! Vote Nader/Gonzalez. Earth and her lifeforms thank you.
So you think Gore was just doing a vanity project with Inconvenient Truth? He thought he could maybe win an Oscar? Had no good intentions at all? Was just slightly less evil than Bush/Cheney? He'd be working with Obama. Nader would possibly be better on the issue, but at least his voice would be heard by Obama. Not by McCain/Palin though.
Dutchoven, the cliche here is "politics make strange bedfellows." Lieberman is a real drag, but whatever the case hopefully Obama will be Pres. and we can apply Nader's ideas to enviromental issues. Obama keeps asking us to participate and I take him at his word on that one. You gotta know he's going to be different from Bush. What does a mere vote do for Nader? Action is what's important. He needs a movement behind him. Honor his ideas, vote Obama.
Obama asks Americans to 'participate' (in voting for him). He doesn't give a hoot what we say after Nov 4th. What are we gonna do, demand an end to war or criminal charges against GW Bush like we did in the 02 congressional election.
Remember, Pelosi and Reid took impeachment and ending the wars "off the table"?
Oh, they respond really well to our demands. Not.
The Dems sell out to the highest bidder and that ain't us. We must participate all year long with civil disobedience etc.
Yeah I agree with you on the civil disobedience, in fact I'd like to organize some creative media attn.- grabbing stunts such as street theater or a bunch of rock-n-roll bands on flat bed trucks all at once. The same song at noon by 20 bands in one city, then another, etc. Obama has called for more participation than just a vote. If you've listened to any of his speeches you know this.
Obama said in a speech in the spring that when he was just out of school, adrift and concerned only with himself, he got into community service and it gave him purpose and turned his life around. A man like that "gives a hoot." He's not just in it for money or personal glory.
I hope as much as anyone that Nader wins, but if he does not, I want to say this- don't give up, Mr. Nader. You never have before and you shouldn't now- America needs *real* change, not just more Democrats and more Republicans.
Let's do away with this two-party-only system that so many have accepted for too long. We don't need Democrats, we don't need Republicans.
My friend remember that Mr. Nader is NOT a politician, he's a citizen. He's remarkable because he has more experience than McCain AND Obama (and he served in the military, just as McCain did) and has a record of bringing about change, is the king of straight-talk and gives me hope. Sounds like a damn good candidate to me, and you know you can trust him because he's NOT a politician, he's the greatest American citizen ever.
Trust him with what though? He ain't winning anything. I agree he's a great man. You can't argue with his service. He's already got a place in history -- not that he really cares, being the kind who's about action and results. Which brings me to the point: we need to come together to solve the environmental crisis. Obama's got a good plan on this, McCain doesn't, and Palin doesn't even believe in science. (You can't tell me you want her anywhere near D.C.)
I agree completely, very well said. I won't be wasting my vote on the 4th. I'll be giving my vote for the presidential election to the man who deserves it most- Ralph Nader.
With the Florida rigged voting system on the brink of deciding our next Prez, I have faith that americans will still hold on dearly to their i-pods and credit cards and fail to pay attention to a stolen election.
One of the few reasons to keep having faith in our floundering nation. Hopefully with the new depression just getting started, it will be enough to catalyze people into action. Nader cannot save our country, but he has and will continue to inspire millions. It is up to WE THE PEOPLE to save this nation. Ralph can be our ridiculously informed, and well-heeled counsel.
It IS true... have you done ANY research on the candidates? Their entire view on the role of government both in regards to social programs and in regards to business regulation is COMPLETELY different. On literally only about 10% of issues do they come to any agreement whatsoever. Seriously, do you only like them to be rebellious, because they're vastly different.
anyways, bet he would change his tune once elected but hey... it's better than nothing. people need to be informed, not disinformed like they are now
the whole system is corrupt, I don't beleive in it, I think the white house needs to to be burnt down cuz it's been taken over by the mafia, but hey... hey... heyyyyyyy

Sure, Nader is a great guy, but voting for him is stupid. It's like this: Someone gives you a choice. You need a house to live in for the next 4 years. There's a huge stack of toilet paper (a McCain presidency), or there is a huge stack of lumber (an Obama presidency). So you can build your house out of toilet paper, or you can build it out of wood. Those who vote for Nader are like someone who says, "Well, I actually want a brick house, and if I can't have it, you just choose for me! Well...
we will get it done, this is exactly the kind of thinking that keeps a government already owned by corporate interests in power. it's up to the electoral college anyway so vote for the candidate that is best in your mind, or risk perpetuating our unfortunate corrupt policy's. mainstream media has us fooled that we get a or b or we throw our vote away. I'll live in a toilet paper house and keep my morals thank you very much
I cannot believe that many Americans are voting for the anointed one the Messiah Obama. That deceiver will destroy American and we must defeat him. Obama will bring hopelessness, haplessness and helplessness to America. Thank you Jesus for Nader. We should bring Nader to the White House and bring the genuine change. Obama will bring destructive change while Nader will save humanities.
The Bailout is taxation without representation or consultation. Obama and McCain voted for the bailout!
Democrat/Clinton deregulated and caused this mess.
Republican/Bu$h blank check bails the crooks out.
Millions of Americans have no health care, many are loosing their homes but, RepubliCrat$ partY throw money away into the Wall $treet speculator gambler void!
PLEEEEEASE!!!!!! Only vot Nader in McCain stronglholds!!!!!
Nader cannot win and Obama is the lesser of two evils. Please don't hurt Obama's chances by voting Nader in swing states (or even Democrat strongholds where McCain could cause an upset.
Not a chance. I'm in PA (which people still try to tell me is a swing state) and Nader has my vote regardless of whoever is leading by however much come election day. Being scared into strategically voting for least worst of the two major candidates is not an option. My vote goes to the person I want as president. That is Nader.
Think? We are thinking. We realize that Nader is the only candidate who deserves our vote. The only people who do not see this are the party supporters. After the damage caused to the economy and other things, neither Obama or McCain have
Democratic Socialism the Government has the power on behalf of the people. Liberalism people have the power on behalf of themselves.

im replying to everyone on this page that is mad about the uncle tom comment from Nader... I voted for Nader and yeah he made the right choice by saying I hope hes more of a Uncle sam rather than a Uncle Tom .... people dont even know what Uncle Tom is...

Wow. You're an insult to black people. If you are one, hopefully you aren't.
That and he said if Obama will be an Uncle Sam for the people or an Uncle Tom to the corporates. Learn how to keep in context next time. Dumbass.

Dutchoven08 3 years ago
Could Nader be suggesting Hope; Uncle Sam? or Uncle Tom?
In her novel, Stowe intended Tom to be a Noble Hero. The image of him as "a subservient fool who bows down to the white man"came later.Tom was sold to a vicious plantation owner(corporate america) who begins to hate Tom when he refuses to whip his fellow slaves(at home and abroad) Simon Legree(Greed And cruelty) decides to crush Tom's morality, but Tom's shining spirit can't be broken, and he tries to comfort the other slaves best he can!

Dear FlavorRed,
You might speak your mind without using such foul language-But I "heard you." You have a huge charge around racism! So much, that during your profane name-calling and derogatory condemnations, you forgot to explain why you consider Nader to have made a "stupid comment." You didn't provide reason for why you imply I'm dumb. Of course, Obama sheeplets and the media are going to be all over his statement-for reasons I explained in my previous comment, but that doesn't make N. dumb.
laserlight9 3 years ago
Alot of people voted for Obama because they hope it absolves them of any sins of racism. They're usually quickest to point the finger. However, Nader is not a racist. I believe when he said "Uncle Tom", he was referring to Obama's obsequious fawning before his predominantly white establishment corporate paymasters. "Nader's career over?"..Naaaa-that's just wishful thinking from those who don't have courage to see the truth and have unresolved racism issues themselves. Ralph tells it like it is!
laserlight9 3 years ago
laser "...wishful thinking from those who don't have courage to see the truth and have unresolved racism issues themselves." You're implying I'm racist among other things.
FlavorRed 3 years ago
Now I'll imply (or tell you like it is), before I go, that you wanted to attack me and imply I'm a racist, when it's not true, because you're are way defensive about your candidate who uses phrases like "Uncle Tom." What the fuck ever dude! That's all I say in reply to you. Say whatever you want to now. I don't give a fuck. I'm not the one who says Obama is an "Uncle Tom."
FlavorRed 3 years ago
well thats what obama is an uncle tom
jose76pe 3 years ago
Nader just killed his political career a few minutes ago. He was on the news talking to an anchor and Nader says something like, "Now that Obama is elected are we going to have another Uncle Sam or are we going to have an Uncle Tom?" The anchor was pissed after that and then later asks,"Looking back now do you regret saying that Uncle Tom statement?" Nader says, "No!" Nader's done.
FlavorRed 3 years ago
He really called him an Uncle Tom? There's some good proof for you guys that he's not as big a genius -- or saint -- as you all think. So stop drooling. He should actually be slapped around a bit for that.

gelidflesh- Obama asks you "to believe". Informed citizens vote their own interests, without choosing media-manufactured images of empty rhetoric
laserlight9 3 years ago
gelidflesh-It's hard to be gullible when you consider Obama's voting record, his foreign advisors, hawkish hints of war while bending over for AIPAC, and hs camaign contributions from nuclear and coal industries, while being bankrolled by WallStreet. In his bio. he states that capital punishment doesn't deter crime, yet he's for it- & voted for legislation that expands cap. punishment offenses. Crime is linked to poverty-yet he doesn't mention america's poor. He doesn't pinpoint Corporate crime.

But then I just checked -- Obama did his community service before law school. So actually, he might have been a bit more adrift at that point.

gelidfish-that's a rather flippant attitude about crimes against humanity and mother earth.
Global Warming Alert)couldn't even get Clinton to sign the Kyoto Accords.
laserlight9 3 years ago

Such politics seem to veer from his environmental concerns, sadly.
laserlight9 3 years ago
Yeah I guess that's what they mean by "lesser of 2 evils." But then there's the other cliche "nobody's perfect." And when you're a world leader you gotta get your hands dirty.
I'm sure Nader would too in some way.
gelidflesh 3 years ago
Ralph Nader is the only genuine candidate out there. While he continues to disclose the very root of our problems, which is Corporate control of our government, top to bottom, McCain and Obama continue to avoid the issue like Ebola. Choosing instead, to point at each other. There will be no "Party of Change" with these corporate constraints in place, but rather a "Party of Tweak" at best. Will we ever learn?
LOOKN450 3 years ago 3
Obama's owned by the nuclear and coal industries...he lies about "clean coal" technology. He's for offshore oil drilling. He's gonna spend billions on war (with all of its depleted uraniium and environmental destruction!) But ooh! the lesser of two evils! Vote Nader/Gonzalez. Earth and her lifeforms thank you.
laserlight9 3 years ago
So you think Gore was just doing a vanity project with Inconvenient Truth? He thought he could maybe win an Oscar? Had no good intentions at all? Was just slightly less evil than Bush/Cheney? He'd be working with Obama. Nader would possibly be better on the issue, but at least his voice would be heard by Obama. Not by McCain/Palin though.
gelidflesh 3 years ago
Remember, AlGore picked the evil Lie-berman as his losing-mate.
Seen Lieberman whispering sweet nothings into McCain's ear on the road to Israel recently?
creepy and wrong.
Nader Now!
Dutchoven08 3 years ago
Dutchoven, the cliche here is "politics make strange bedfellows." Lieberman is a real drag, but whatever the case hopefully Obama will be Pres. and we can apply Nader's ideas to enviromental issues. Obama keeps asking us to participate and I take him at his word on that one. You gotta know he's going to be different from Bush. What does a mere vote do for Nader? Action is what's important. He needs a movement behind him. Honor his ideas, vote Obama.
gelidflesh 3 years ago
@gf:
Nader!
Dutchoven08 3 years ago
Yeah I agree with you on the civil disobedience, in fact I'd like to organize some creative media attn.- grabbing stunts such as street theater or a bunch of rock-n-roll bands on flat bed trucks all at once. The same song at noon by 20 bands in one city, then another, etc. Obama has called for more participation than just a vote. If you've listened to any of his speeches you know this.
gelidflesh 3 years ago
Obama said in a speech in the spring that when he was just out of school, adrift and concerned only with himself, he got into community service and it gave him purpose and turned his life around. A man like that "gives a hoot." He's not just in it for money or personal glory.
gelidflesh 3 years ago
@gf:
Obama spoke, from a prompter, in a speech, written by the highest paid political speech writer in the Nation, that he was out of school and "adrift".
How many Heads of the Harvard Law Dept. leave school to be set "Adrift"?
The story was designed to be relatable by the "Everyman", you.

My friend remember that Mr. Nader is NOT a politician, he's a citizen. He's remarkable because he has more experience than McCain AND Obama (and he served in the military, just as McCain did) and has a record of bringing about change, is the king of straight-talk and gives me hope. Sounds like a damn good candidate to me, and you know you can trust him because he's NOT a politician, he's the greatest American citizen ever.
smantie 3 years ago 4
Trust him with what though? He ain't winning anything. I agree he's a great man. You can't argue with his service. He's already got a place in history -- not that he really cares, being the kind who's about action and results. Which brings me to the point: we need to come together to solve the environmental crisis. Obama's got a good plan on this, McCain doesn't, and Palin doesn't even believe in science. (You can't tell me you want her anywhere near D.C.)

Well...
Wewillgetitdone 3 years ago
we will get it done, this is exactly the kind of thinking that keeps a government already owned by corporate interests in power. it's up to the electoral college anyway so vote for the candidate that is best in your mind, or risk perpetuating our unfortunate corrupt policy's. mainstream media has us fooled that we get a or b or we throw our vote away.
