A question, is there a reason why sharpen in the ACR, what I call ACR, that 1st stage where the sliders are on the right (CS3) workers better -- but the sharpen filter in the full photoshop seems more noisy to me, and/or should I combine both?, probably not. I just look for noise (flecks) and back off a tad from there? but the 1st stage one seems better, or maybe both are really the exact same.
Hey I am thinking about using some of this in a picture where I have a lighter in the middle with a few people around it. What I do not know is how to make it so the light from the lighter light up the faces in a realistic way. Have you made this tutorial or something simelar? Or do anyone know where I should look?

So that's how people do this. i've been going about it the wrong way ALL these years.

this is one effect that ALWAYS looks better when you use an actual filter on your camera lens.
the nuance and dimension is almost impossible to duplicate on a computer.
it only takes 30 seconds to screw the filter on the lens.
why not give reality a try!
thanks for sharing your technique.

Gavin, instead of making two layers and doing the same thing to each is to make one layer then copy it and flip it horizontal!

@jadedmiss
this would work only if the image is perfectly symmetrical around a vertical axis

Quite interesting!
Is there a special reason why you used "Threshold" during that initial step instead of "Desaturate" and "Levels" or did you just want to save time?
lennier1 1 year ago
@lennier1 "just" save time? JUST?
timar03 3 months ago
@timar03 "Threshold" is the sledgehammer approach whereas the two-stage approach takes a bit longer but it's closer to a precision scalpel.

Hi,
how do you render your video's in 1280x720 (YouTube Widescreenplayer) in high quality?
Because when I render my video to that size (with Sony Vegas pro 8.0) it automaticly get an HD button on YouTube..:S I dont want that.
All what I wish is a high quality video in fullsize. But than without the HD button.
I subscribed, so please tell me how you do that.
Love your videos

Not to be mean, but I think it'll be easier if you use the starburst brush instead of doing all this.....just saying, awesome video though!
