The hands down, greatest composer of the 20th century. He played every instrument except for drums and bass in this song. In his song "Angel" He actually played Guitar, Bass, and Drums. This man was nothing short of a musical genius on the level of Einstein in relation to mathematics.
He was simply amazing! I always wonder how he would be now if he was still alive... There must be some lucky people out there who saw him live on stage...must have been wonderful!
Jimi was an amazing keyboard player, an amazing bass player, an amazing drummer, and an amazing guitarist! What more could a music fan ask for from one person?
It's nice to hear a new studio quality track, nice version, Jimi never played anything the same way twice. The older I get the more I appreciate Jimi's music. Put the headphones on and let the music take you away.
@nerdflanders8710 Yes. He's talking about tripping balls on LSD, because it is certainly an "experience". Perhaps the greatest experience our silly little brains can comprehend.
@StratoBlaster420 pffft all your doing is poisoning your bloodstream an it overexcites your synapses , and then they call it a poetic name like tripping.
@StratoBlaster420 Poisoning...? LSD is completely non-toxic. More people should experience excited synapses from time to time. Maybe if they did pop music wouldn't suck so much ass.
So cool. Jimi experienced (he-he) 4 or 5 careers worth of music in his short time in the limelight so that even today Jimiphiles like ourselves can still get pumped over hearing things like this, for the first time in my case. I just wish that people would get off of the "Jimi was murdered" bandwagon and just live and enjoy his tremendous legacy. Those that think Jimi was off'ed tend to be some very bitter people. What a waste of emotion! All Jimi wanted for his fans to was to "Stay Groovy".
@theScytheofGod Well, if you check out enough Jimi vid's posted here on YouTube you will see lots of people believe in wild tales that Jimi was murdered. Like most conspiracy theories, they are spun by people with too much time on their hands, smoke lots of weed, and are easily influenced. Pisses me off that they are sooo serious about it when the easiest explanation is ALWAYS the best and truest
You guys should check out Turtle Island Quartet. They just released a new album called, Have You Ever Been...? and all of the music is influenced by Jimi Hendrix. Check out this video about the release: youtube.com/watch?v=X-iKhTLovhs

Damn! I found what I was looking for! i tore up that hotel room for nothing searching frantically. Sorry, hotel, I'll pay all the repair bills. Check my channel out for shits & giggles.
This might be my favorite Hendrix song. I remember the first time I heard it, I was totally blown away by it. It was even really the guitar playing, because this track isn't necessarily one of his flashy-guitar-solo songs. It's just the whole atmosphere and feeling of it.
This is really nice! Only Jimi could write music like this. A true musical genious and I miss him so much, too. Thanks for sharing this studio version with me. Really.
I love this raw unmixed stuff. You can hear the tone of the guitar and the bass line is more distinct. Both of these tracks got tucked under the rest of the sounds on the finished album. Listening to this, I can understand his ideas better. I like the photos scrolling upward, especially at 1:17....it's like, why is he just leaning back like that? and where's his guitar? ....oh there it is!
Is this really from Houston Studios? Material from those sessions was supposedly scrapped because the recording quality was poor. Hendrix texts have him composing the lyrics after the Houston sessions while flying out of LA to New York, where it was recorded a few days later.
I wonder if there are any videos here on YouTube that have the demos of the songs that Jimi didn't get to record in the studio, because before Jimi died, Jimi and his band made demos of new material that was going to be released on LP in 1970 or 1971.
It was first released as a single in 1967 (one year before "Electric Ladyland"). The b-side is "The Stars The Play with Laughing Sams Dice"[STP w/ LSD], which is my personal favorite Hendrix song; if you haven't heard it do so asap.
life has a wierd way if showing you things wether u like it or not but there is a message of importance that we need to take a look at in between the line's of it all.the world and people would be alot better and compassionate place.

Probably written about June of 1967. It was really released as a single and then later added to the Electric Ladyland album. It was in-between Are You Experienced and Axis Bold As Love and you can hear live versions as early as September 1967 in Sweden
Yeah..I love this version, I have listened to this about 10 times... I love cembalo and guitar solo part....I am drunk at this moment and even sounds better-...
Released on "Electric Ladyland - Sesssions May 1967-January 1968 (ATM 234-235 / 23.03.2006 / 2CDR)" Disc 1: Olympic Studios, London 09.05.67: "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" (11) (early take); 1:25 / Houston Studios, Los Angeles, CA 28?.06.67: "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" ( ) (sampler of eBay tape);
I encourage any fan that is interested to read the biography that Sharon Lawrence wrote. I cant remember the name but she was a personal friend and this is my favorite of all the bio`s I`ve read. It gives some new insight into his death and his intrigue with numerology and his personal number 9. Truly a tragic story.
Surprising! No one commented on the harp that he used in this version for the intro and such. To the best of my knowledge, at the studio in the corner was an old harp and he fiddled around with it and voila! The burning was created. He later made the album cut with the wah pedal as it was one of if not the first song he recorded with it to get that harp effect.
This is great! I am a huge Hendrix fan it is sad I am 17 and most of my friends listen to rap and crap like that but he is just the best. Actually he rented an apartment where I live in New Paltz for his girlfriend. We are close to Woodstock so he hung out in my town a lot.
While all you say is true, rap/hip hop is not crap....you just have to know what you're looking for. It's not all their fault that don't know who he and the other bands are and I mean different strokes for different folks. I used to get/get teased for listening to this. All through middle school and such. We're just lucky we've experienced this young, we're never gonna be the same. Take it easy. Turn on, tune in, drop out. - Timothy Leary
Since I'm a die-hard Hendrix fan, I collect all the Hendrix-related audio/video I can find. I got this one in a trade. But I got lots of that kind of stuff... I'll keep 'em coming, so check my channels every once in a while ;) Next is a complete rare & unreleased song from 1967.
music will never be quite like this again. it's a damn shame if everyone listened to music that was around back then the world would know peace.

I think I read somewhere that this was Jimi's favourite among his own songs.

Hello batterupdan . Happy new year to everyone.
Listen what you like, It's the way to have your own personallity! :)
Hendrix is so good, not a lot of black people do rock music now, they are all "working" on rap music.... :(

Yes thats a shame is`nt it, all that soul lost on rap! A good assortment of non-rap originals can be found on my channel if you have some time

This is great! I am a huge Hendrix fan it is sad I am 17 and most of my friends listen to rap and crap like that but he is just the best. Actually he rented an apartment where I live in New Paltz for his girlfriend. We are close to Woodstock so he hung out in my town a lot.

i know what you mean about friends listening to rap. none of my friends have even heard of jimi hendrix or the rolling stones or any of those guys
