  • I have two questions that any body with the answer could please give the information.

    1) is it possible to find a buddhist temple that uses English in counteries out side the US?

    2) is there a way i could start to prepare myself to become a buddhist monk because i recently found buddhism and i feel like being a monk would be the right thing for me. I love the quite way of life a monk would have. also I am only 14 so i know that was a big decision i just said. please give me any info you have.

  • @rushsps250

1.Google these temple for more official website and more info. 1.1) Wat Pah Nanachat (WPN), The International Forest Monastery, Thailand. 1.2) Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery, Redwood Valley, California. 1.3) Plum Village in US, and many other countries.

    2) At many temples include mentioned, there are some retreats and practice session for people to try. Also in the US, there are 3 plum village's monastries. Check it out.

  • @rushsps250 Hello, Well then, If you would like to be a monk and believe that it is the right way with you, be absolutely sure that it is what you want to do. Before you go, try living a monk lifestyle by: Wake up early, meditate, chant mantras, and follow some of the precepts. It would be a good way to start off if you are not already doing so. There are also a bunch of other great spiritual traditions as well that you can look into: Yoga, and Taoism, just for fun.

  • @blessedyoga i am having trouble finding mantras and also idk if i could be a good vegetarian. I have converted from Catholicism and row varsity crew, i have to have a 5000 cal. diet so if anybody can get that from vegetarian stuff lemme know. thank you for the yoga and Taoism stuff, being a lover of philosophy, i have looked into it and love it.

  • buddhism does not encourage everyone to become monks. also they are free to leave if they should wish

  • If there were no simple people to give them food and everyone was a monk where would the food come from?

  • so everyone are is doing this cycle .. what are you doing then ? your not living a cycle ? your living more of a cycle than anyone lol

  • @brentonius12 in this video he has spoken very vaguely on cyclic existense(samsara) to what he refers is the cycle of suffering from cause and effect. you experience something negative, react negatively and cause the cycle to continue. this also is very vague, this is simply because the lessons are not easy to explain so briefly. there is much wisdom overlooked at first but with time and familiarization it becomes clear.

  • I really liked this. Very well produced and very simple just like Buddhism itself. Thanks for sharing.

  • พระวัดป่า

  • Sa Du Sa Du Sa Du.........

  • Contented ?

Exactly. There is nothing to be concerned about whatsoever.

    But then so what ?

  • Hi! Im from Mexico and im 20 years old.

What i need for be accepted in a monastery like these?

That is my dream!!! I wanna be a monk.

    Please, help me.

  • @Diehuty Find a Buddhist Temple/Monastery near you and approach the monks respectfully, about your dream. If you can't find one near by...you may want to consider relocating to another country. (If you're serious)

  • @Tauron68 if you find an American buddhist temple and say you want to become a monk they ask you for money. if you go to a thai Wat and tell them you want to become a monk they tell you to go to thailand. i think that people become monks in other countries, living through difficult training then come to a temple in America and live like kings. if someone approaches them here they feeli like thier kingdom is being intuded upon

  • I am very sorry that Venerable Tapassi had to disrobe. May he have a good opportunity in later life to come back to the holy life!

  • i can relate to him im a buddhist monk to i do most of this stuff

  • his birth was in 1945!!!! wooo waawee

  • I wish i had the courage to just let go of everything, go to a monastery and live the rest of my life just like that..

  • Thank you for sharing your personal journey with us all.

  • I love that chanting. So many times I hear chanting that sounds kind of loud and dogmatic. This chanting sounds so peaceful!!!

  • Thank you!

  • a v inspiring vid...

  • The spiritual life is for the purifying, liberating & enlightening of consciousness.

Naturally, when the body dies, consciousness will 'go out' then.

But, before we die, it is essential to find liberation. This is the purpose of the spiritual life as advised by the Buddha, namely, 'the unshakeable freedom of mind'.

Nirvana is freedom of mind. It is not freedom from mind.

  • The monastery is in Bundanoon, NSW, Australia. Just google for Santi Forest Monastery and you'll find more info about it.

  • I would love to become a Buddhist monk but have a strong desire to somehow drastically improve the world, plus I'm in a relationship. Any suggestions?

  • Comment removed

  • Become a buddhist lay person.. You dont have to be a monk to improve the world. Improve yourself and the world becomes better. And there is alot ot learn from having a family also. My children have helped me to become a very patient , compassionate person. And they have showed me how to laugh at life. Both paths have much to teach.

  • Continue to study the Buddha's teaching and do vipassana meditation. Cultivate the ten parami and develop the attitude of letting go. Understand the law of kamma. Keep going and you will find the answer. Understand that there is no ultimate happiness (satisfaction) in the world. The three characteristics of existence are anicca, anatta and dukkha.

  • it doesnt take long to achieve stream entry, w/c is the first stage of enlightenment. once you're there, you're basically on the way to enlightenment for sure. the help we can do to the world can be greatly increased if we achieve these stages and u dont necessarily need to be a monk to reach them.

  • It's been three months since I've viewed this video, so I don't know if these are brought up in the video or not. What are stream entry and w/c?

  • you dont have to become a monk to achieve meditation progress. stream entry is the 1st stage of awakening and can be achieved practicing at home.

  • As I watch this, I'm so grateful! But I also realise that this is a five-star hotel for most Buddhists. I would love to live in such luxury! Don't take this the wrong way, I love what this guy is doing! I hope to follow the same path! I'm just not sure that such accomodations would be helpful toward renuciation. I think you understand where I'm coming from, so please, save your harsh rebuttles for something a little more drastic than an Buddhist vid. Again, I want to walk this path too!

  • Thank you for this. 5 star*****

  • where is that monastery ?

  • This is the way to live, to exist or not exist.

  • i glad he found true happines in Buddhism but its ignorant 2 say that a person cannot be happy with a good job, money, children/family & a loving spouse. in my opinion happiness is within a person living in socity or outside

  • Simple living higher thinking..

  • Deny thyself, Be still and Know God, many Christian teaching are found in common among the Buddhist scriptures and many of the parables that Jesus used were exactly the same. ( The man SHot with an arrow) The birth story of Jesus sounds almost exactly the same as the birth story of the Buddha. Hmm, makes you wonder, is it convergence or something else.

  • The Buddha was born many years before Jesus. There is also a theory that Jesus went to India and studied Buddhism.

  • heard of it too

  • Elvis lives...

  • thank you gratefully appreciated

  • As I watched I was thinking/feeling this is heaven on earth and then I thought of Jesus and how he taught the keys to the kingdom are within each of us. And then I had an epiphany: This man is actually living Christ Consciousness! This peace, this concern for others, this simplicity, this detactment from material things...isn't that how Jesus lived? No, he doesn't worship Jesus. He doesn't call himself a Christian. But, IMHO, he goes beyond that, and he lives very much as Jesus did. Amazing!

  • Where is here?

  • beautiful & peaceful

  • great =D

  • That was beautiful.

  • I love this video. Now I want to pay a visit myself :)

  • Wonderful. I have been to Santi Monastery, just for a few hours and it has a very peaceful atmosphere from the moment you enter. I encourage anyone who can visit to go,help with the meal, dontate time or money to help keep this wonderful monastery going. Many people/leaders could learn alot from the buddhist teachings.
