I've been running Linux for about a year or so now... I've tried various distros and both KDE and Gnome. Went the Gnome route.

Opensuse and mint come with all the propietry codecs and drivers needed, and I get more help from the gnu and ubuntu community then I'd get from being put on hold by a windows auto-robot-voice thingy

you can use windows programs (that's right, Games AND Applications) trough Wine, you can view a video, and play a game at the same time, if you recieve a message, and don't feel like "ALT + TAB:ing" the game, you can just rotate the cube (or room, or ball).

Linux feels better then any Windos or Mac OS, and it's free.

compiz works on kde, gnome and xfce desktop enviroments if you install any of theese in any linux distro it should work.

is this linux thats awesome how it does that, will this run on an emachines intel sempron 1.8 ghz CPU with 512 mb ram and 100 gigs of hard drive space, and is there a site that has a flash animation or something where you can try out linux without actually downloading it?

you can get a livecd and run it of your ram with no changes to your computer and see if you like it, but it is sort of slow

you can use a live CD if that distro provides it where it will just run on the computers ram and not affect the hard drive but it will be slow.
