also has anyone here bought siouxsie sioux's solo album boy its a masterful piece of work
Shame they couldn't get over their artistic differences and take this album on tour, some great new songs mixed in with their older material would have been fantastic. I am able to go to meet my maker happy with the knowledge that I eventually got to see them live.
This was such a great album (comeback or not). It is just a shame their orneriness exploded again and they broke up before making videos or taking it on tour.
Its the shit........It has Bowie, T-Rex and Celtic Frost.......oh, and Bauhaus, who also did Iggy and never mind Joy-Division and British Clash, in general, and late 70/80's, never mind Punk being that age, but i add that as an under-theme. I am the best musical historian eva'. yeah?
Critics say this is the best album by Bauhaus, so far. In a time when goth rock is in decadence they managed to bring a great retro sound, keeping the production at a low level, lo-fi sound recording.
@saviouroftheuniverse I'm really sorry. After thinking about this, because I don't remember writing it, I recall having a heated argument with my missus that day. Her and me had been drinking, the creator of many a row, and I needed to let off some steam somehow so I lashed out. Unfortunately, you got the brunt of it and I can't apologise enough. Sorry.
While Bauhaus and Cure have similar influences, I always saw Bauhaus as true Gothic Punk, and Cure as more Gothic Pop. They are certainly lighter and fluffier. Both bands are good, and have their own merits.
A band is best appreciated when they are gone. That's when they enter their "MYTH" stage. Why the hell do you see fourteen year olds wearing Ramones, and Led Zepplin t-shirts. That is when appreciating them becomes "Crystaline" and infamous.
I don't think so I mean this album is just a little over a year old so definetely no tours since it's release. I think that maybe when I'm old enough to be working a dead end job they'll do a reunion tour that won't come through my area lol
Anybody out there know what the hell happened to make these guys cancel the tour to this album? I heard there was an "incident" which caused the guys to not want to continue as a unit. WHAT INCIDENT?
Apparently a disagreement. Usual thing. Murphy went of to his spiritual retreat place in a huff, apparently. They barely managed to finish the album first. Shame, I thought the convsersation on it sounded as if they were fairly upbeat and together - "This IS the solo!"
dam he sounds like his self again.. a little bit of peter murphy,.. sounds crazy right.. but the tune bauhaus never played such a happy "go " lucky tune....still good to know it's them .
Great comments here,I was fortunate enough to see Bauhaus 2 of the 3 nights they played the Roxy in Los Angeles/1982. I knew I was witnessing history and was left breathless. They broke up 1 year later and left us Bauhaus fans holding an empty bag. Yes, they were somewhat polished, like Bowie and T-Rex of the early glam days, but sprouted out of the punk scene with more life. This is a cool recording, I had no idea it existed. I need to get a hold of it. When did this come out ?
ive had dreams about this album. from way back in middle school, even, and and i can vaguely remember what the "new bauhaus album" sounded like. but thats alright, i dont have to dream anymore!
I wasnt paying attention and and a whole fucking tour apparently slipped right past me. And then an album. If they tour this time i CAN NOT miss it, there might not be another chance.
They wouldn`t cut an experimental album, with no tour dates or video to support it in the states that coincide with it`s release and call it quits. They still haven`t released a video. I`m glad they created some new. They left me hanging for more. Not good marketing but it gives me hope. As pros, I do expect them to tour in the states and do a goodbye at the very least.
they have surpassed bela w Zikir...listen to this track as an intro to the album w endless as the 2nd track instead of as the 5th song...Bauhaus has alway been wise in choosing track sequences, except on this cd....if you move those tracks as stated then it is well deserved to call this their swan song...and again w much debate even surpassing bela
zikir is nice, and saved is too, they have this dark, tribal instrumental power to them. but my fav is mirror remains, feels oldschool bauhaus and then there's the hilarious dialogue between pete and daniel at the solo ^^
The album is experimental and screams the more upbeat bauhaus B sides, with some bowie and t rex elements.
fuck anyone who is going to hate on this album,. it is bauhaus and it is great considering how long it has been, and listen to this and then listen to ANYTHING new that plays on the radio, thats what i thought, bauhaus wins.
@robaralis You murdered me, i loved how you used the word "fuck anyone who is going to hate on this album" right after a serious comment on the style of this album.
i second what dhnata said i mean they had the chance to make a very good album but they threw it away. But im not saying its cra its a 1,2,3 album for examle to much 21st century is good im not saying its exellent like the old days but its good, adrenaline is good to.
I actually didn't expect too much because usually when a band gets back together it's missing something, but I think it's just the opposite. I love this album. Endless Summer of the Damned totally rocks and Dog's a Vapour is just sublime!
It was a great surpise hearing that after a absence of 23 yrs Bauhaus were on the studio preparing their new album,(I heard it on march 2007 by david j himself as he was invited to play a dj-set on planetmusic in athens) therefore I was anticipating the new CD. After listening the album I felt dissapointed as I was expecting smtng special (their previous albums were unique full of novelties),in the contrary I felt bored, so bored. Inferior substitute fr my favorite group. dimitris t-kallithea
I think the whole album's great! Its classic music for listening to walking down the street or in the background while you're cooking or something... I love the last track Vapour..
Don't judge a day for the first rainy hours. This album kick rocks, I D-Jayed em when Burning from the Innside was released in 83. It's really
daring and spetacular. Highly recommandable to any new and old listener. My fav. on this was
'Saved', lyricks remind me of a crossover between Bowie and the acclaimed album The Drift by the legendary Scott Walker. Welcome back Peter and his friends, but for god sake stage A TOUR!!! you're wanted outside the cyberspace..cheers anyway, thanks for record
yeah, eveything im reading is saying no tour no nothing after this there was an incident, and this is it. is it ever good for a group to do a record after over a quarter century between records? anyway, no tour. no next record
Not bad!

Think about it like this, the song "Boys" from 1978(Gawdamn..) on the flip side of Bela was quite like this.
Free form with a touch of T-Rex meets Thin Lizzie.
