  • Jans Bolen is the pilot Mathias in this movie.

Lars is the guy who blows up with the chopper.

  • man what would of been cool too, if they would of had kurt russell in there as a like a 5 second cameo, for when they see the chopper coming into the american base, maybe with him looking out the window of his shed seeing the chopper going "what the hell?" then black out. but thats just me.

  • The Prequel is very disappointing, it left a lot of unanswered questions, like how does the creatures replicate people's clothing? The writers did a bad job.

When Hollywood going to learn from remakes? The Original Thing is more scary.

  • @spoonmonkey14 i don't think it replicates clothing at all, that's why they're always finding torn clothing lying around. i know that doesn't make sense for some of the characters, as most times there was no chance for the thing to grab a change of clothes, but both films were pretty vague when it comes to little things like that.

  • @spoonmonkey14 they DO NOT replicate clothing, it was very straight forward that the alien cannot replicate any nonliving material...... that's why the fillings and earrings were found....... they made this very clear

  • Movie comes out january 31st 2012

  • Hey gosmiti the guy that got burned by Kate he wasn't the thing if you burn somebody that is the thing then the thing will come out of the body

  • @Supercocfiy8 Missing Earring.

  • @Supercocfiy8 but he screamed like the thing and he and kate were seperated for a long time that would give time for the thing to assimilate him an

  • @Supercocfiy8 yeh when kate and carter are separated in the ship, carter heres something and turns and looks, you never see him get thinged but he does unfortunately, he was cool to bummer he got the fire.

  • A minute or so into the proper end credits we hear a russian voice. Whats that all about?

  • @gmullin Is Norwegian =/

  • Its weird, in this, the last shot echoes as the screen cuts, however, when I watched it, the shot didnt echo and just cut, and there was no music.

Nit picking yes, but, is there 2 versions or something.

  • Nope, sorry. But the director of this film fucked up. The pilot is the one who gets shot in Carpenter's movie. The guy shooting in the 82 movie has a fur hooded parka. He is the one on the right side of the chopper. He blows up with the grenade and it is the pilot who gets shot. Watch Carpenter's movie and pay attention at about 7 minutes into the movie. They land the chopper, and you see the pilot from the left side of the chopper get out, he has the rifle.

  • @snake2006 I just did! your right! My huge apologies, it is indeed the pilot who gets out with the rifle and is shot. But, it could be Lars, but very unlikely.

    This is strange.

  • @MrGearsOfWar96

See, but tell it to the fanboys of the new film and they stick up for this mistake saying it's lars, and that Carpenter says this is a editing mistake. Yet I have yet to find a single interview proving that. It can't be Lars because they would have to switch places mid air otherwise they would have lost the dog. The pilot is the one who is shot, it's as clear as day. Yet the fanboys don't want to accept that I am right

  • @snake2006 I thought you were wrong too, but it is indeed the guy who leaves the left seat.

  • he rip i watched had no subtitles so after the credits where the dog ran away there was some extra audio suring the credits but i couldnt tell what they were saying coz it was swedish, im gathering it was something like "the dog got away"

im a lil rusty on the original but i do remebr a bunch of dudes dogs getting infected, could this have been the carrier that somehow mingled in with the pack of huskys?

  • @cmega1

It's the same dog, or atleast its suppose to be the same dog. But in the prequel it looks nothing like the dog from the original until the end credits when the dog is running in the snow. That is because they used 82 footage in the credits.

  • U get caught with a cam in the theatre????

  • @pucknut11

Someohow I don`t think we`d be seeing this now if he had been caught.

  • the only similarity between this scene and the original's is that they both can't shoot for shit. Other than that, the two characters are completely different.

  • @RogueAgentify Nope. They have the same clothes and the same rifle and are the same height. Go watch Carpenter's film again...

  • @KronnangDunn

Nope, your wrong. The person shooting in the beginning of Carpenter's film had a food hooded Parka. Watch about the 7 minute mark, the pilot gets out of the chopper and he has the rifle, he is the one who is shot. The guy who is shooting with the fur parka,he blows up the chopper. Watch it again, because YOU JUST FAILED

  • @snake2006 LOL Duuude... really. Go watch Carpenter's film again. Lars looks exactly the same. You are confusing the pilot (Matias) with the guy with the rifle... who was Lars. The director did his homework. He got the same chopper... the same rifle and the same costumes for the actors in the prequel. I bet you haven't even seen the prequel.

  • @KronnangDunn

    1) I saw the prequel opening night

    2) Did you even watch the clips you told me to watch. I have the movie on Blu Ray, so don't give me your crap.

The man shooting at the dog has a fur hooded parka as seen 39 seconds into the first clip you linked. Now you see both Norwegians have the same glasses. Watch the 27 second mark of the 2nd link. You see the pilot get out on the right side of the chopper. HE HAS THE RIFLE, not the guy shooting earlier. This guy is shot.

  • @snake2006 watch?v=ZXHuGyv1KXM

  • @KronnangDunn

watch the 39 seconds into this clip. It shows the guy shooting where Lars was in the end of the prequel film during the credits. Now notice his parka, it has a fur lined hood, pay close attention to this as it will come in later.

  • @KronnangDunn

Still waiting for the response, you know I am right and your wrong. Lars is suppose to be wearing a fur hooded parka, which neither guy wears in the prequel btw.

Lars is on the right side of the chopper in the prequel, and yet he must have switched mid flight after shooting at the dog. Which is impossible. Oh and explain how BOTH the pilot and Lars have the SAME GLASSES, we see this when it shows inside the chopper in Carpenter's film.

  • @snake2006 And I already answered in the Carpenter's Thing intro scene video. What you just described was a continuity error from John Carpenter. He commented on this in many interviews. Lars/Jans wasn't supposed to be wearing the fur hooded parka. If you look closely Lars wears it in the helicopter scene at moments. Larry Franco wore that because he was freezing. Since he was one of the producers Carpenter let him do so.

  • @snake2006 watch?v=fUoLDQdzx4s&feature=related

  • Lars was my fav character :D

  • Thanks for the upload, but how dare you sneak a camera into this movie. Show some respect.

  • Yeah, I was so excited to see this movie. Some parts didn't really follow through as promised, but I still liked it. And everything I didn't like about the movie was totally redeemed by this ending. Fuck the haters.

  • @watchALLthethings

No fuck the director. He promised it to be seamless between the two and he failed to deliver that. He changed the 2 Norwgians around at the end (the pilot is shot, nothing you people can do to changed that, facts are facts), missing kerosene cans near splitface, the ice cave, the leftover snow cat,the ship even working which begs the question why the fuck The Thing got out in the first place.

This movie sucked and deserved to fail.

  • @snake2006 29 Years later dude, he cant get everything right can he? The ending in this lead directly into the original, everything looks the same, yes, he used the same footage, if he didnt, he would have tried to recreate it, and that would have made you complain even more. I think this movie was very good and was faithful to the original and deserves a thumbs up.

  • @MrGearsOfWar96

When the movie has been out for 29 god damn years, on VHS,Laserdisc,DVD and Blu Ray. Yeah there is NO EXCUSE for missing even 1 tiny thing. Escpeically important stuff like the kerosene cans by splitface, Kurt even says they burned it up quickly. The blood trail leading to Collins body is NOT THERE, the dog isn't the same, they reversed the Norwegians so lars is shot not the pilot which is WRONG as I have proven.

It was not faithful in the least

  • @snake2006 What? Lars was shot in the `82 one. The pilot blew himself up by dropping a grenade in the 82 one. Look in this videos related at the side, The video called The fate of Lars.

Lars is wearing the same clothes and using the same gun, the helicopter is the same, the only thing different is the pilot, in 82 the pilot has a beard.

Lars is the one who got shot, not the pilot. Lars got shot for trying to kill the dog. The pilot didnt didnt even know why Lars wanted it dead.

  • @snake2006 The dog wont be the EXACT same after 29 years. There is a close up on Collins dead boy, not even showing a blood trail.

At least they tried and go ALOT of things right. The ending is the only reason people watch this. Because it ties so well.

  • @MrGearsOfWar96

The director himself changed how they unearthed the ship in this movie because he doesn't believe that thermite can melt through ice, when they are hot enough to melt iron in real life. Again a stupid decision that clashes with the 82 film, and we SEE the Norwegians doing this in the 82 film.

There is no excuse for laziness, it's not to be tolerated.

  • @snake2006 Wow! your right. My apologies. Although I am not sure it was shown that they blew it out with Charges, it was just a video recording of them celebrating the discover, we didnt see in the 82 version them blowing it up. We saw them putting flags around where it was. So, I dont know, your probably right. I never even thought about it.

  • @MrGearsOfWar96

We see them digging in the video, then it cuts to them standing around the ship in a circle and the camera pans out showing the top of the ship. We then see the blasts of Thermite.

The Norwegians created the crater not the ship. Also if the ship wasn't broken, then why did it crash and why did the thing even get out. It's just stupid.

I wanted to like the prequel but the inconsistencies ruin the entire movie.

  • @snake2006 Chill out dude, it's a movie. lol

  • Camera in the cinema. You got some brass ones pal. :D

  • u cant ask for a better sequence for a series.

  • Another plothole. in the prequel there's two vehicles the one she's in and the one left behind.....where are they in the same scene during the original?? Only big mistake made....or was it a mistake? And would they made her the one roaming the american camp in the original that they never showed u? Can't wait for J.C.'s sequel.

  • @MovadoMj wow, is there a scene that shows a snow-cat roaming around the american camp in the 80s film?

  • @MovadoMj

Your in for a long wait then. It's not going to happen. This movie flopped and deserved to flop. There is no way Universal is ever going to make another Thing movie. Both Carpenter's and this new one flopped where it counts, theatrically.

  • @snake2006 LOL Flopped in the US. In England and the rest of the world is doing quite well. And the DVD/BR releases are still pending...

  • look is a remake jaja

  • Did you notice that of all the things the director spent endless amounts of time on to get right between his film and John Carpenters film in 1982... they screwed up one of the most obvious things? In JC's 1982 film the Americans are watching the black and white vid of them using thermite charges to un-earth the space ship. In the 2011 film the director decided to use the ship firing its engines off to unearth it. What an oversight!

  • @BlackPhlanx I know. That was a HUGE continuity mistake that irritates me so badly. Those black and white videos seen in the original clearly showed the Norwegians blowing the hell out of the ship trying to unearth it and in the prequel it just never happens. WTF? lol

  • Yesh.

  • But what becomes of kate?? They just leave her sitting in the snowtruck???

  • @MovadoMj I guess she froze to death Or, she maybe had turn into one of them, cause in one of the parts in the scenes, they said that if you get hurt or anything, you get infected. and when she was fighting one of the crew's at the ship, She got hurt trying to get the gernade.

  • @ToonsifyToon o ok thanx. I know J.C had wrote the sequel back in 05 that suppose to take place right after the end of the movie and that childs and MacReady survived but he didn't know for sure how to explain the age difference now from then. Keith Davis still relatively looks and sounds the same lol. Kurt actually aged a bit. But I think they was gonna re release the original just remastered while they figure out the sequel.

  • @MovadoMj thats to hard!

  • @MovadoMj There is a sequel, although its a video game. Takews place 3 days after the 82 movie.

  • @ToonsifyToon she had knowledge of a nearby russian camp apparently...that's why they struggled to get into that snowmobile..

  • @ToonsifyToon she might hav gon to the russian outpost though

but i can almost bet u guys there gonna make another one

  • @ToonsifyToon Maybe Carter was human after all and Kate burned him because she just went nuts with paranoia... so she stayed in the Snowcat until she died of either starvation or frozen to death.

  • @ToonsifyToon or she had survived too. we can never tell some even speculate that she was the one who saved mcready thats why mcready appeared in the game version

  • @thecreativemovements

The game isn't cannon. It has a different explanation, in the game it says that the US took over when the ship was found, and they created a virus from DNA from the dead alien, and they caused the outbreak at the Norwegian camp. We know that is not true, so the game isn't canon.

  • @ToonsifyToon The director said in his facebook page that he believes she froze to death on purpose. Maybe she thought she was infected...

  • @ToonsifyToon

According to an interview they cut scenes where she realises she has no fuel remaining in the vehicle and she realises she is doomed. She starts crying walking off into the snow.

  • Comment removed

  • @ToonsifyToon Pretty sure she took the the other snow vehicle to the Russian base. Thats what was suggested, but its hard to believe that a creature that sprouts teeth and testicles would not have the good sense to infect her in the process of grabbing and dragging her towards itself. Im still not sure now..

  • @ToonsifyToon If I recall, I thought they took fuel out of the other snowcat to refill the flamethrower before they entered the ship, thus when she torched the last guy, she wouldn't have been able to make it anywhere as the full 'cat was now burning (and she was hurt). But what really pissed me off was HOW did the director miss the fact they blew the ship out of the ice with thermite charges in JCs's version, yet in his he has the ship un-ice itself... so much for all the bragging he did.

  • @BlackPhlanx

He didn't. He has openly admitted to changing it because he didn't believe that thermite could expose the ship like it was found in the 82 movie.

  • @MovadoMj I think that they're hoping if this one does well they can go on and possibly bring her back in a movie that takes place after Macready and childs are left at their outpost. I think that's what they're doing. But I also do agree with ToonsifyToon. Because she was grabbed by one of the tenticles with the teeth. She could have been bitten.

  • @MillerMUCKERS I left the response on ToonisfyToon's comment. Didn't feel like posting it twice lol.

  • @MovadoMj That's cool, I just saw the comment. I agree with you though, lol.

  • @MovadoMj *Spoilers* according to the screen writer she was froze to death, the only flame unit that they had was out of fuel so they took all the fuel from the other snowcat and put it into the flame unit, in the end when Kate burning Carter's thing, she's burning the fuel, means she burning her way home.

  • @MovadoMj I'm guessing she went to the russian base they talked about

  • @MovadoMj Lars, the one in the chopper shooting, thinks he's the only one left alive at camp, Kate is no where near camp and she is the only other one left alive. For the dog, Lars was the dog handler and he saw that the dog had been mutilated by the thing when it was free so he knew at the end when he saw it that it was a thing. For Kate, its like the ending to the 1982 movie, we're left to wonder whether she finds her way to another camp, Carter mentioned a Russian one.

  • @RandomM0D yes, but who says there is a Russion camp?! Maybe it was a trick of the 'carter thing' to get into the snowtruck and kill her

  • I saw it today. Awesome. It might not have been what I was hoping for, but the ending made me squeal like a little girl. It was worth it. I was like HELL YEAH! It lead directly into Carpenter's 1982 film.

  • @TheShadowedOne1 it was just a gore fest with bad CG that captured none of the subtleness or cleverness of the original. You don't really need an entire crappy movie to guess what happens before the beginning of the first one.

  • @WIlliamMunnyOutlaw True for some bits, but come on. The CGI was great, much better than I ever thought it would be. It wasn't a gore fest either, in fact, it didn't completely match up to the original's gore and disgusting...ness.
