There's no point in buying a console anymore when the same game is on PC with better EVERYTHING. Not to mention online services for consoles are god awful (XBL, PSN and Wii's services ALL suck), none of them even remotely compare to the greatness of Steam. My PC will ALWAYS last longer than your console, these are all facts.

MLG is a joke and there's no precision when using an analog method of aiming when you could be using a digital one. I can turn aim at exactly any pixel on my monitor at any given moment thanks to muscle memory in the human body while you would have to take several minutes fiddling with your inferior analog to even get anything close to it. I think this is merely a case of proponent of another medium of gaming (portable app gaming) taking on his main competition (platform gaming), so I would not put too much stock or for that matter hyperbole in coming down on this guy.
Nothing beats Gears of War or Guns of the Patriots on a 65" plasma at 1080P with THX Ultra2 7.1 channels. Unless of course maybe 2160P on an 80" OLED display bumping 9.1 THX Ultra3.... ipad gaming = fail

Within the past few years, there was an article in Time Magazine about a growing number of people in their teens and early 20's that collect vinyl albums. Obviously, this is years AFTER the experts declared vinyl to be dead in the water. For the past few years now, I've seen vinyl sold at Best Buy. Yes…some people will jump to strictly new technology over time, but collectors will always exist to sustain a market for "old" technology…as if game consoles are really "old".
a format like the iphone or ipad won't replace the console games. it takes away the one of the best parts of the console games, the controler. i agree, these formats are great for information, but not play. i, along with most of my friends, are gamers, and the only thing we use our ipods or ophones for game wise are to waste time on the bus or in school.
Until they put out on the market the iCloth, to wipe your screen every 2 minutes, and give the i family products a processing power comparable to their price, AND stop handicapping the products so that you have to buy/carry a bag of accessories to fully use the products, the other gaming/computing options will stay.
I 'd have loved a touch screen tablet, 10 years ago, but it was too weak and expensive then as it is now, just more hyped by apple, I'll wait for similar products from someone else.

When the Ipad can run something like Supreme Commander or Company of Heroes with the ability to micro your untis efficiently (dont know how they'll fix that without a keyboard or something similar, since you need quick-action buttons and two different mouse buttons to micro efficiently), then you can talk about it replacing all other platforms. the PC still is the no. 1 platform for RTS games. The Halo RTS and that Endwar thing were a joke...

Just a note. According to VGCharts, Gears of War 2 sold 4,7 million copies after 20 weeks, while New Super Mario Bros Wii sold 13,5 million within the same period.
The games cost the same, and the Wii and the Xbox 360 have a minimal price difference if you buy the cheapest Xbox 360, so I doubt that has much to do with it.
@VolcanicPenguin buying an xbox is not enough. you have to buy a wireless adapter, xbox live gold, chargers, have some friends (lol) etc. the xbox and ps3 offer a more intense and hardcore gaming experience than mario and the wii.
I don't know what kind of wireless adapter you're talking about, the only one I know of is for using a 360 controller on a PC while wireless 360 controllers work out of the box for the Xbox, you don't need Xbox Live Gold to play Gears of War, the Wiimote has as much of a need for chargers as the Xbox 360 controller, friends are free.
But ultimately, I don't see how Xbox 360/PS3 vs Wii has anything to do with this video, it's about game-centered devices vs smartphones and tablets.

In a room with 7.1 sound.

I don't know why he assumes that everyone is on the social gaming bandwagon. It's true, that there are a lot of people there, but they also spend a lot less than gamers playing on dedicated platforms (consoles, PC).
And portable devices will never have good graphics compared to non-portable.
Even if it were faster & had twice the ram, I wouldn't ever want my lap-top to be the size of a cell phone... especially when those are getting smaller every other month! I get where he's coming from but the simple fact of the matter is, consoles and mobile games aren't really even in competition with each other; they're totally different markets. The top selling game platform doesn't just automatically crush all the others; the fact that the Nintendo DS hasn't obliterated all the consoles proves it.

Within the past few years, there was an article in Time Magazine about a growing number of people in their teens and early 20's that collect vinyl albums. Obviously, this is years AFTER the experts declared vinyl to be dead in the water. For the past few years now, I've seen vinyl sold at Best Buy. Yes…some people will jump to strictly new technology over time, but collectors will always exist to sustain a market for "old" technology…as if game consoles are really "old".

a format like the iphone or ipad won't replace the console games. it takes away the one of the best parts of the console games, the controler. i agree, these formats are great for information, but not play. i, along with most of my friends, are gamers, and the only thing we use our ipods or ophones for game wise are to waste time on the bus or in school.

Until they put out on the market the iCloth, to wipe your screen every 2 minutes, and give the i family products a processing power comparable to their price, AND stop handicapping the products so that you have to buy/carry a bag of accessories to fully use the products, the other gaming/computing options will stay.
I 'd have loved a touch screen tablet, 10 years ago, but it was too weak and expensive then as it is now, just more hyped by apple, I'll wait for similar products from someone else.

When the Ipad can run something like Supreme Commander or Company of Heroes with the ability to micro your untis efficiently (dont know how they'll fix that without a keyboard or something similar, since you need quick-action buttons and two different mouse buttons to micro efficiently), then you can talk about it replacing all other platforms. the PC still is the no. 1 platform for RTS games. I don't know what kind of wireless adapter you're talking about, the only one I know of is for using a 360 controller on a PC while wireless 360 controllers work out of the box for the Xbox, you don't need Xbox Live Gold to play Gears of War, the Wiimote has as much of a need for chargers as the Xbox 360 controller, friends are free.
But ultimately, I don't see how Xbox 360/PS3 vs Wii has anything to do with this video, it's about game-centered devices vs smartphones and tablets.

And portable devices will never have good graphics compared to non-portable.

@Redfingers I assure he does not, but he has made a lot of money off the platform apple has created. His field is mobile apps, and again he is making good money there, so it is his focus. So he sees how there is this market suddenly expanding to such a large scale that it gives the illusion to him and many mobile app developers that this is where people are going for games. Even though thats true, console and computer games are different markets, and I don't think apps really affect them.

What it is that the developer/distributor wants to control content. Stop the sales of second hand games and push consumption on their platforms. Contrived shit is what it is, but sadly that is the trend it is going.

There's a reason they have games rated M, because a lot of gamers are adults. You might as well be saying people over the age of 14 shouldn't go to the movies - both are forms of escapist entertainment.

@Congest How are they not art? Have you seen games like Mass effect, Alan wake, Metal Gear? Stop being so ignorant. Games will not throw out movies they are just there to be beside them. Videogames are not like Space invaders where you just blast aliens anymore.
