Fords only good 6 cylinder motor....lol Ford builds great V8's and the bullet proof V10 Triton motors....Well...did build the V10...not no more Good choice bro!
lmfao i have never seen such a small air filter on a I6 before. Great looking motor though love the work done to it, Im not trying to bug you about the air filter or anything. But i do own a 300ci in my 1982 f100 and trust me it would help a lot if you put a bigger air filter on. other wise beautiful work.
lucky you, you have a DS2 ignition. i have electronic on my 86 and i hate it, along with the computer controlled carb. im converting to DS2 this summer, along with a clifford cam and a holley 390 4bbl carb.
This probably spunds like a dumb question. But what all did you remove from this engine? I can see all of the vacuum hoses have been removed. Does it run fine without all that?
and you bet it ran like a top, you dont always have to have everything hooked up the way it is suppose to be and all the vaccum lines are still there friend, just probably hard for you to see
So? How many cylinders doesn't necessarily dictate how much air goes through. What does is displacement.
The filter you're running in this video is barely big enough for a 40 cubic inch lawnmower, let alone a well-built 300 cubic inch engine in a pickup. So what if it covers half the motor...you aren't supposed to see it that often anyways, and if you do you forgot to do something when building it.
Mine was well taken care of it just one day up and cracked the head, but didn't run like it was in trouble, still powered through until the peck peck peck peck peck. :)
is that an f-150 or f-100? i have an 83' F-150 its 2WD and its got a High Output 302 out of a 1979 Lincoln its my project truck aswell i plan on restoring it to brandnew condition
that is the right size airfilter!

Get a bigger air filter, man. That dinky-ass little thing ain't enough for a lawn mower.
Nice engine tho. <3 the 300. The one in my '85 has 260K on an all-stock engine and it purrs like a kitten.
TestECull 2 years ago
@TestECull 260K on a 300 ? It's not even broke in yet !
Bag0fRats 1 year ago
Not really :p.
I had the head gasket let go on me at 260, while I had it apart I noticed there was still crosshatching in the cylinder walls.
TestECull 1 year ago
i know right lol and it was propane before it was change over to gas fuel!

@Bag0fRats
Yeah, you gotta go around the world a few times before you need a new head gasket!

it is only a 6 if i was to put a bigger air filter on it it would cover half the motor lol

so what are you a air filter genius? it was actually bought at part source and it is made for that.
i wish people would stop writing stupid comments!

the stock carter YF's are shitty, you need to buy an offy or clifford manifold to fit a 4bbl, but you can squeeze a 2bbl on there I believe...
jp23jd 2 years ago
Straight 6s are bullet proof tey will do whatever you want it to. If the gearing in the transmission will let it.
