  • summer wine vs some bites from road to hell... the song ain't bad, it only lacks originality, somewhat like an amusing cover.

  • und für alle deutschen hier: lammbock.

  • Wow - this is SO cool! Ta for posting

  • This is flawless. And the french part fits in perfectly. If you dislike it, I think you dislike Calexico worldwide essence.

  • lol at the bit where he's bobbing his head, looking windswept at 2:00...cheaper than hiring a horse :P

  • Boss

  • She's spoiling the song with talking

  • Comment removed

  • Wow great song...I love Calexico

  • Wow... I'm a fan of booth Summer Wine & Balad of Cable Hogue, but I never realized it was actually exactly the same chords & strumming before playing it on guitar... I think that even they've got the same bg, the two song are very differant!

  • HEY HEY IT'S OK !

    WE ♥ IT !

  • I mean the woman should learn to sing instead of talk...

  • VERY NICE Song, (would be awesome without the woman babbling bullshit....)

  • @Blacktwister91

Actually the babbling bullshit is just french lyrics... (I'm french speaking, but I agree that I also think it might be better if the french part would be in english)

  • @marylong17 yeah sorry, but I don't think it matches into the song (and I don't understand 99% what she's talking ^^)

  • @MsPsychophil yeah is red blooms but im little confusing with the song confused with skid row one song of these guys and calexico red blooms

  • @MsPsychophil already know the song is red blooms but thanks you

  • What a great song...I wonder what he uses for his Tremolo sound

  • Comment removed

  • @494main Watch again and you'll see he's using his tremolo arm ("whammy bar") and tuning pegs for effect. There's also some reverb in there.

  • love this song so much...

  • My favourite band

  • Secret Perfection ! Undercover Pathos ! Lifemeaning labyrinth.

  • Isn't this the John Cale tune?

  • i love it!

  • whats the name of the woman singing in french?

  • @i0annita She's Françoiz Breut, a French singer (yes, she spells it like this)...

  • @sternumagnum thank you :-)

  • @sternumagnum it' not francois, its marianne dissard. but joey made a beautiful duet with francois breut on one of her records: it's called "over all" - it's damn sexy.

if you don't like ,just leave it,alright ?

  • easy mate, it`s a nice song, but he`s got a point when he says it echo`s summer wine.

  • dude, he commented that their song is trash on other calexico's single. just a non-sense hater.

  • don`t know about that, i only know this song reminds me of summer wine as well.

  • It sounds similar because both mexican stile songs, which are based on spanish songs, which are based in a certain typical choice of chords, like the fado here in Portugal. It's the nature of that tipe of songs and it's not bad. like the opera all sounds very similar.

  • What make of guitar is Joey playing?

  • Man this song would be better if the girl would make an effort to get the notes right. Don't get me wrong, I love Calexico and this song is AMAZING but it'd be better the girl would sing rather than just talk.

  • Calexico play London's Forum 11th October with Bodies Of Water and Get Well Soon

  • Beautiful gesture to Sam Peckinpah's classic western. Great song, great band! Tanks from Israel.

  • cette chanson est franchement géniale.

et le léger accent français, un délice.

  • her love would be the death of mine.

    salout honey

  • I don't think these guys eat eggs and bacon for breakfast; they don't look anything like me! Still, I love this song!

  • lammbock rulez

  • this song is great!

  • nice!thanks for posting it

  • Love it!

  • very good!!!!!!!!

  • Luv the way they put this together>>simply awesome

  • AWESOME song as a whole, but the lady speaking in French doesn't really sound like a natural speaker. She needs to soften her accent. It's pretty harsh. But still, better than my French accent. :D

  • Yeah... gotta cut her a break, though. It's hard singing in another language, particularly when another guy is belting it out in English at the same time.

  • The singer, Marianne Dissard, was born in France and French is her first language. She has been based in Tucson since at least the early 90's.

  • the best ballad ever

  • One of my favorite videos all time!

  • same here!

  • yes there were in heraklion and i was there but i did not see them ....

    :(

  • damn, why did they have to play there after I graduated? :-(

  • Great song,great video

  • This is Mexico.

  • cinematic

  • I saw them 2 years ago, here in Heraclion of Crete, and they were very good!!!

  • where did they get the name from?because my hometown is Calexico

  • Look at Wikipedia: "The band is named for the border town of Calexico, California."

I even think they chose the name to point to their US/Mexican influences and sounds.

  • bravoooo!!!, bravoooo!!! from México

  • What a great song!!! It s a soundtrack of the german movie "Lammbock". Moritz und Lucas ihr seit die größten.

  • Which is actually 1:50

  • Don´t know if anyone ist still interested in the French lyrics. Nevertheless here´s the translation (in parenthesis):

(Love is passed and love is obsolete

Some spend their whole lives searching for a heart of gold

I'm tired of treading water in this desert mystique

I'm cashing in my chips before I ride.)

    ...take this gold an hide.

(don't twist too hard darlin' on your hangin' rope)

    Don´t worry....

.. as she fired that gun at me

(it's getting late and I'm running out of time)
