I love how I just stumbled onto this video and I just started college and was feeling the pressures. This is so motivational. I will work harder and if i ever feel down about my work, I'll just watch this. This is going under favorites.
People. The idea here is that generally, education is a good thing. And generally, a lot of people have to/had to work hard to achieve this, just like how people work hard to achieve anything at all.
Going to college doesn't make you a hero. Doing something to better the world is what makes you a hero. And you don't need to graduate from college to do something good. True, college can strengthen your skills, talents, and understandings in order to do more good. But don't think you have to graduate from college do what is good. Just go out there and do it!
@jdpiehl i think the video was trying to focus more on the fact that we need more lawyers, scientists, engineers, people with trade skills, etc. which requires a degree or a diploma
@jdpiehl Of course there are things that you CAN'T do with no certificate, as medicine or enginery. But I know really good designers who are not "heroes".
In photograpy an illustration also, if you have a nice portfolio you don't need any certification than your own work.
@jdpiehl Of course not, it can be also argued that school in general worsens the mind because the way things are taught make students closed minded. By not having creativity to advance the field, it just becomes a factory of future workers.
The talents 'GOD' gave you? Gee, and you wonder why the American education system is the way it is? Let's all doctors be trained by the Creationist Museum! Or mother teresa! Let geologists learn from the incredible minds of Young Earth Creationists. Woohoo! Ah for fucks sake, invoking god in a pro-education / pro-science video is the worst thing you can do. Shame on you.
The truth is - For many students graduating means having a loan . If all Americans got an higher education, it wouldn't be enough jobs for the educated.
It's already apparent that not everyone that graduates gets a job. watch?v=tTfJZbYxlSw ... 40% lower job prospects, avg. starting salary 39,900? This report specifically targets "low-income communities".
They can be as inspirational as they want, many American students will be jobless graduates. How will they pay the loan then?
Hey, just because your cancer was never healed by the power of jesus or witchcraft or healing crystals, or exorcism it doesn't mean it's not scientific or logical! But I forgive you, because I know better, I'm sure it's the demon speaking inside you.

@k1awdttt maybe thats why he's doing it.
callum444121 1 year ago
@k1awdttt true, but it was the fact that the college was a ground for ideas, that allowed him the ability to do what he did.
bluefootedpig 1 year ago
@bluefootedpig that's also true :) I was merely pointing out the irony.
Although Bill's success has quite a lot to do with luck rather than ideas if you are familiar with the the whole IBM and DOS thing...
