I head Bream four times in Copenhagen and once in London. Each time he played the lute during the first half of the concert, and guitar during the other half. People were standing on the seats waving theire arms and shouting for more. Bream was generous and gave up till eight more pieces. He seemed to enjoy it as much as the audience. Those were the days.
Wonderful postings, thank you. Bream belongs to that select few, the greatest musicians of the 20th century, like Gould, Horowitz, Szell. They go beyond, and reveal what we otherwise would never have known about this music.

Tune the G string down to F# on your (classical) guitar and you've got a lute.
Bream's strings are paired like a 12-string (perhaps in octaves), except the top string is single.
Extra strings on the bass end are tuned to a handy open string bass note.

Bildet som dukker opp på 33 sekund er bare helt skjønt. Den Moliére aktige bildet som dukker opp, ser litt rar ut.

Nice one. I am a Julian Bream fan so naturally I love the music. Don't get to hear much of his lute playing. I like the visuals you added. Good job!
