  • If only if we had BBC here in America... The news here sucks...

  • THIS... IS THE BBC!!!!

  • epic

  • I was just waiting for something either bad or freaky to happen when it got to 1...

  • The BBC: Don't fuck with us or we'll come and burn your house down.

  • In 2002 I remember having a Bad Dream and this was what made it bad. It then haunted me for about a Month untill I had another Bad Dream about Godzilla destroying our House.

  • Lyrics:

boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop tun tan, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, tun tan, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, tun tan, boop, boop, boop, tun tan tan, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop

  • i came

  • 90 seconds repoters of countdown intro Of BBC

  • This brings back memories of me as a young kid waking up early in the morning to watch BBC World News for some reason...

  • i dance to this :p

  • The BBC is not politically bias in it's coverage of political events.

We know this for EACH and EVERY Political party cries foul when the BBC reports about them.

You should see some the exchanges that occurred between BBC reporters and ministers during the expenses scandal.

  • I love it. Especially how the little numbers rush across and down the screen, changing in time with the big daddy number!

(now where did I put my medication?)

  • This is absolutely hilarious, I LOVE how dramatic they make the news sound! :P

  • Its to Long

  • Excellent.

  • Excellent.

  • I wonder how hectic the newsroom is during this countdown. How many times did this show?

  • @Waterclaw random Times, i dont know

  • @Waterclaw

    every hour

  • @nojporean 1999

  • And the chatter about youtube commenters continues. For good reason, apparently. Myself, i got a name-hater once. (hated the last name.) weird vid response to the right.

  • Boop, boop, boop

  • KING GOD CREATOR 2011 UK EARTH KINGDOMS HEAVEN. They will take this to the last second. @Number10gov My Universe I am the news. I am wrapping it all up the sky the lot. All into the size of a pea so dense nothing will lift it. Happening now a slow process with an immediate result. Is that where you all want to be, in that pea stuck in your coffins forever dead gone & forgotten. Because you are all going the right way about it.

  • @Godtomanonly

Will you shut the fuck up. You aren't god. God doesn't have a YouTube page, a facebook wall or a Twitter account. God lives in space, and wouldn't give a damn about YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter. Scaring people not only detracts people from christianity, but since you serve 200000000 "final warnings", the people who DO believe in 2011/2012 will start to have second doubts. You are not god to man, and you are not the creator. You are a 40 year old (fake) preist in Iraq.

  • Where ever I go in the world I feel calm when I hear the BBC News theme.......it is strange. I have lived in Canada for 4 years now and still can't watch any other news.

  • Comment removed

  • This is so clever. Like others, I'm not quite sure why it so fascinating, but it is. It's wonderful when it hits 10 seconds....

  • The BBC news is the best!

  • It is, however, in my opinion, the most dramatic and yet subtle news overture the Beeb has ever had. All news programming is standardised with it and, despite their regional variants, it all has that beautiful heartbeat beneath it.

  • the theme that spawned a million regional news versions/nightclub spoofs/ etc.

It's impregnated in our minds as BBC News. They can never change it now. It must just evolve.

  • Pure musical genius!

  • Florida should have this for their news countdowns!!

  • MARAVILLOSO COOL FANTASTIC ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Where's the boom boom at the end? I'm disappointed!

  • OK I am now officially hypnotised and will accept everything the BBC says..

  • ermmm I got bored a bit

  • Just close your eyes and try to predict when the final 10 seconds arrive...

    Awesome music!

  • corrupt to the core

  • I find this theme to be just thrilling.

  • all i can think of is bill bailey playing this live at wembley

  • best 90 seconds of my life

  • @RandomNinjaOfEvil I have to agree with you.

  • What the hell, sounds very cool, but why does it sound like a post apocalyptic dance song.

  • Nearly a quarter of a million hits! Discuss.......

  • FOX NEWS SUCKS!!!

    go BBC

  • Very Very Very Very Wonderfull !!!!

  • *small pause DUNNDUNN DUN DUNNDUNN

  • BILL BAILEY

  • why would you think "ooh, lets upload a video with the bbc news countdown on it"

  • @finkployd4658 Why would you think let's watch a video with the BBC News Countdown on it?

  • @rocketboom324 Because, i needed the media for a drama performance in college(only a small part improv piece)

    Ha.

  • @finkployd4658 Because of people like you who would search for it to watch it.

  • Numbers never looked so sexy

  • "And now here's Michael with the weather."

  • Check out my own bbc countdown watch wSyufa27maA

  • no!

  • why 90 seconds???

  • So the news anchors have a chance to catch their breathes, sort out their stories, finish their tea and maybe even get in a quick game of tetris while they're at it!

  • The countdown of France24 is way shorter than this, 5 seconds. :)

  • BBC the news of your mather

  • Beeping never got this thrilling.

  • I love this tune and can i get it on CD please?

  • David Lowe has CD's for sale on his site. Go to Wikipedia. It is hyper-linked there @ the bottom.

  • wow :D

  • have to listen to it

  • Im American and I say we need countdowns for our news channels here in America and in Florida!!!!!!

  • @APKNEWS24

I'm also American, I second this!

  • @APKNEWS24 for the special reports(where they interrupt a show) they usually have a 10 or 30 second countdown on cbs and abc and maybe others. it's really cool

  • @bcallahan08 Yeah They Are Cool. But I'm talking about when the news channels are about to go to the top of the hour report

  • @APKNEWS24 if they made a countdown there will be no more advertising and users must buy a TV license

  • I would like this to be played every time just before I enter a room. Could that be arranged?

  • haha That actually made me laugh. Good one. And you know what the answer would be.

  • You should definitely start by making it your ringtone!

  • probably the most unbiased state controlled tv station in the world.

  • It isnt state controlled..

  • @edenskid er no it aint.... nowhere near

  • It is. That's why you pay a TV license

  • Nope, they just have an agreement with the government but the BBC itself is publicly owned.

  • Never knew that. Thanks

  • @blakesquakers

    It's state FUNDED. There's a difference.

  • @v9vREBORN I do know this.. my comment was a response to someone saying the BBC was state controlled. And technically, it's funded by the public.

  • @blakesquakers are you talking about BBC it's owned by the crown idk what that is i'm french and we have a republic but that sounds like it is state controlled idk if you live in England you problebly know more about the bbc then me

  • @mbarana100 It's a separate corporation which is funded by TV and radio licenses in the UK. Although there's obviously a state agreement and its funding is controlled by the state, the BBC remains independent. It's strictly un-bias politically.

  • @blakesquakers you can't say that any news corporation is clensed of a little bias television news gets more bias and bias everyday there was once a time when i used to watch NBC that was way back in the 90's and 80's now it has a very gross political agenda now the only news i watch is canadian news and news from europe and i see a political agenda there it's everywhere i watch the BBC and even though it is not as bad as american news i do see some bias

  • Right!

  • Cool music! It had me grooving away there. Sounds like there's a bit of a dance remix on it.

  • Some1 posted this countdown on 9/11 heard apocalyptic

  • And the Twin Towers - BBC Countdown version.

  • Comment removed

  • Like some sort of Uber techno rave :D

  • This was for 1999

  • Its incessant but awesome the music weaves in and out of the beeps. Yep definitely BBC is better than ITV at least they don't cut their programs because of money.

  • @TheNorchard yassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss kolllllllllllllllllll

  • I like the music

  • i like the tune. it's like diso-ey...

  • what is the countdown for, clueless american here?

  • at the beginning of every hour there's some countdown. like on bbc world news

  • The BBC has no paid advertising. Because of that, the BBC has experimented with all sorts of different filler between programs (other than previews for upcoming programs.)

Countdown clocks go very far back for the British. It's pretty embedded into the culture now, but (this is the American in me) it doesn't do all that much other than be a cultural anachronism.

  • There's no paid advertising on BBC? How the hell do they make money? Public funding?

  • A yearly television license fee that everyone in the UK has to pay if they have a television.

Television licenses are pretty common in Europe. Check out the wikipedia article on them.

  • Do you know how we here in the US can get access to BBC News 24 on directv or dish, I know they have BBC America but not any of the other networks.

  • You can get it at a premium from Direct TV in their world view package! But Careful .... My fellow American, once you see how the world looks at tv, you might not want to return to U.S. TV!

  • that's exactly why i want to get BBC!

  • Hey, British guy here, confused, lol.

How'd you mean how the rest of the world looks at tv?

How is american tv different from the rest of the world?

    Very intrigued to know..

  • american news channels don't use countdowns. news channels aside, it seems that most tv shows out there are garbage that rots the brain no matter what country you go to....(the IT crowd, excluded)

  • @Malbo22 It is, there is much more news, which doesn't deserved to be on the NEWS, like disputes over a bottle of milk at Walmart. The coverage of courtcases is more intense over there, i.e. reporters are standing outside the courthouse and asking people walking out. US- TV is not the same like in the UK or in Germany. Movies are cut into 5 minute time slices, that means, after 5 minutes there is an ad break. There is no "NBC" or "ABC", there is an Affiliate station which uses their FCC/CRTC (1

  • (2) assigned callname: like KQED is a station operated by the PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) in San Francisco, CA, or WVIT, a station for the NBC (National Broadcasting Corporation) in Connecticut. Canada uses a similar system with C numbers: CFCF is a station operated by CTV in Montreal, QC. Mexico uses X for identifiers. Japanese stations are using "J", like JOTX-TV, Tokyo TV, The difference is that beside the ident, there is the "channel number called". For WVIT it would be 30.

  • Verizon's FIOS service has the BBC World Service. That is a 24-hour news channel. If you have a BUDS you could probably just point the dish at the correct satellite...

  • You have to buy a TV license to watch the BBC in the UK. It's currently about £147 a year, so it creates a lot of revenue.

  • Tv Licence :)

  • Caws BBC Uk's Most Known and Popular Channal

  • i thought it was just so that all the bbc's around the world could synch in together, so if bbc america say.. got delayed for 16 seconds, and if bbc asia got delayed for 30 seconds, the program would still start at the beginning for everybody.

  • No, because all the different BBCs show different programming.

  • You chose to watch it, so I don't see why you're moaning.

And please don't type in all capitals. Its not needed.

  • what the hell is wrong the countdowns are the best part of news 24!!!! i never get tired of watchin them

  • Err year, have you seen your video! Also is your keyboard locked in block capitals because you username is also in block as well as your user name.

  • It's so intense, I love it for some reason =P

  • i can recall it started with a gong sound, midway way had keybord solo, it was from david lowe, when was tony blair first elected, sure that might be when this was played

  • 90 seconds is long but i had a score that ran for at least 8 minutes it was during either election night or millenium countdown can anyone recall or have info about this as the hard drive that had this cut croaked about 5 years ago

  • does anyone know whre 2 get the mp3 version from 2003 if so plz email me ta

  • Apocolyptic rave!! Woooo! :DDD

  • 180,000 views EXACTLY!

  • 869 more by now...

  • lol

  • In answer to thibaulthalpern below, the World Service tune is called 'Liliburlero'. Not much luck finding on YouTube, but the internet has a variety of entries. Hope this helps.

  • Does anyone remember BBC World Service radio around the world back in the 1980s? The announcer would say "This is London" and then a tune would begin ending on the dot of the hour and then the world news would begin. I'm trying to find that on YouTube but have no idea what to look for. Any help appreciated!

  • I Love The BBC Countdown Reminds Me Of When I Was Younger

    Or Mayb Im Just Sad

  • i love it so much i turn to news 24 just b4 they do the countdown and turn the tele up to max sad i listen to ova and ova again :S i esp like the new 2009 version was lucky to get it as a mp3

  • hi mate could you send me this mp3 aswell? i too love this countdown. i do exactly as you do every time i have the tv on just to build myself up for the news. do you think theres something wrong with us ? lol

  • Too much time.

  • Nice countdown, but you're right. 90 seconds is a BIT too MUCH!

  • Proof please.

  • fascinating

  • Hello New Updated!!

【HDTV】 Japanese InterNational News24 First Launches Countdown×BBC Arabic music collaborate mix

    Please Watch This HD Countdown

    There is in my page

    enjoy!

  • go and listen to hannah montanna little girl

  • Nice :D

  • This music is good, but it would be good if instead of using the normal news music on all programmes, they could use the origianal 1:00, 6:00 and 9:00 (obviously still name the news 10:00)and breakfast music from the late 80's and early 90's in the same style as David Lowe's music.

  • This modified tune made me puke!

    Pukessssssssss

  • Exellent the new one is awful

  • Its like the countdown of death!

  • bbc news have a online channel???

  • Peace not invasion or war.

  • It has been this for years, it has to change soon. I just hope the next one is as good or if not better. I imagine that when we listen to this one in a few years time it will remind us of the Bush/Blair era.

  • There is no reason it should change. Sometimes a tune so ingrains itself with a programme it becomes unthinkable to change it ie Match of the Day/Eastenders etc. The BBC must know how popular the countdown is. They'd be mad to ever ditch it now.

  • 120 bmp? I think so... :D

  • whose the scared being in the shadows then? master?

  • Hey look...BBC has credibility and you have 6 thumbs down!!!

    lol

  • I am from Lithuania. And BBC is my TV sets number one channel. Countdown rocks! But i miss one thing, the British voice. Smthing of a voice like it were from those old lamp radios, you know, back in coldwar era ... when an elderly gentelman in nice english accent used to say: "this is BBC". LoL, and i am only 24. Classic geting back :). My next channel thou will be euronews when i get it on cabel.

CNN is good as well, but FOOX. FOX retarded, its not news, its damn reality show there on FOX.

  • This is the first BBC countdown following the TOTH flag sequence. Launched in January 1999 this a fresh a new look of BBC News 24 and BBC World. BBC World used the same soundtrack and similliar visuals until 2001. I Like this video.

  • Sorry, I mean this countdown premiered in October 1999.

  • awesome music. the images from the field put this over the top imo. i'll never forget what it was like hearing this during the iraq war in 2003. just unbelievably powerful searing stuff.

  • invasion not war.

  • This never gets old. One wonders whether the BBC will have this ten years on.

  • Bellissima!!!!

  • What makes this great is that it is like a diamond Spinning in the light, it has so many facets reinforcing, resonating and complementing each other. Like the bass line, the bips, the thumping crashes, the chords in the background, the rhythmic drums, etc, reminds me a bit of the Dr Who theme with its incidental music as well !! a spinning diamond throwing out all its colours one by one. Pink Floyd unt Jean Michelle Jarre eat ur Heart out!!!

  • GUESS WHAT!! (you will ALL probably do this now)!!!

I have this as my wake up ALARM TONE on MY Nokia Mobile Phone. It wakes You up very well in the Morning because the tension makes you have to cancel the countdown (Hit the snooze Button) Before the Nuclear Bomb goes off, KOOL !!!

  • it is like an apocalyptic rave as Bill said.

  • omg i love this music.

  • Już się pogubiłem: w mojej kablówce był kanał BBC World a teraz jest BBC World News. To to samo co ten tutaj BBC News 24?
