I am a member of the deaf community and I know many d/Deaf people who will accept a hearing person giving someone else a name sign to make it easier to express who that person is. Her name is said in the song, so a name sign had to be given. He is fine, CODA or not. :P
@kimmik... From another Coda / And Interpreter...Technically speaking for song purposes making a sign name would be acceptable since it doesn't require "Approval" from a deaf person. However, when interpreting the deaf person would have to "approve" of the shortcut sign.
@kimmik105 Its a good thing I asked my dad what would be a good sign name for a girl with a complicated name, big boobs, and a crazy additude. ;) (CODA)
@kimmik105 You realize you're an idiot, right? Why can't a hearing person come up with a sign name for someone again? The mad council of ALL DEAF PEOPLE EVERYWHERE are going to come and protest or something? I'm not only a CODA, I'm an interpreter. I can hear and I routinely give people sign names to make communication easier. It's STANDARD PRACTICE for anyone who signs.
@1RavynSkye you say your an interpreter? it is usually easier for the person that your making the sign name up if they're deaf but when its a hearing person your not really SUPPOSED to make it for them. A deaf person is supposed to make it judged on their looks or personality. I know, my best friends deaf, she used to like "yell" at me when I tried to make a sign name for someone when I constantly were signing their name. Then her sign language interpreter told me it was cause I wasn't deaf
@kimmik105 Yes, because the OP can obviously just go right up to NM and ask her what sign name she'll prefer. I'm OBVIOUSLY talking about people who aren't present and don't have already established sign names. For instance, if I were interpreting a class where say, Kurosawa films were being discussed, I might just decide to give Kurasawa a sign name for my client, to make the interpreting of the class go faster. My parents are Deaf, they don't chastise me for making sign names for people.
@kimmik105 just throwin this out there, if you are an interpreter interpreting in any subject or song, if there is a name that will be repeated a few times, you may fingerspell it the entire time if you would like to wear yourself out. or you may fingerspell it and then set up a sign name for reference, always make sure that the receiver understands what your doing, mind you its not the official sign just what you may use for a temporal amount of time. its not a fixated sign name
oh, man.. to practice my ASL, i was definitely going to try this song.. but you've got me beat by a million miles. i could NEVER do it this good. great job!
@DamiensBabyBear He signed 'same as a drum' but didn't actually sign anything for 'coming your way'. He glossed. Its typical when signing music that doesn't interpret very well.
I love the whole thing you did when she said "then the panties comin off" lmao

@kimmik105 lol, I don't think he's going to fingerspell the name every time it's mentioned. it's a temporary fix, not a permanent label.
