  • Everyone has the right to customise their soup any how they like....maggi, onions and chicken bouillon are all relatively new additions to nigerian soups, alot of more traditional people refuse to use these ingredients. I don't add tomatoes to any nigerian soups that I cook. My Ghanaian husband however adds tomatoes to most soups that he prepares because he prefers it that way.

  • I agree, what was that?! Sorry not to be rude but I have eaten Okra soup from many different people of various tribes in Nigeria and none of their soups looked like that. Tomato purée in soup? The okra didn't draw when either, which is weird. Anyway as long as your enjoying it that is all that matters I guess but I don't feel its a representative Nigerian recipe.

  • so much hate lol..please everyone with negative comments put up a video and teach your own method of making okra soup =)..everything is relative..& ill keep going no matter what you say

  • 51 likes!? I died when you added tomato paste. This is not okro soup. How did you manage to not throw up when you mixed raw meat and puree together? You stirred the okro so much till it lost all its slimy texture. And you said you learned this from your mom? Ummm thumbs DOWN...Sorry! This is simply misrepresentation of Nigerian food.

  • DONT WORRY ABOUT THE HATERS... they dont know that okra soup is Nigeria's gumbo, as in you cook it with what you have and like as long as you add the KEY ingredients Okra, pepper, and salt... everything else na jara.. why dont you come cook for me sometime

  • NOTHING DO YOU MY SISTA ... LOL

I am an indian that lived my childhood nigeria, I used to eat with my malam (gatekeeper) pretty much everyday. I would pay and do whatever I can for someone in US to send me some genuine okra soup to my house.

  • Can I do it without the meat? I don't know how to cook at all, but this is one thing I wanna learn how to make and enjoy since it's so freaking healthy. I used to eat this with my malams in nigeria when I was younger.

  • @chiomzy09 id love to see a video of you cooking OKRA soup. You should post one with all of your tips so that other users can get another perspective..i love the way my okra soup looks and tastes..and i also love the skit, makes me laugh everytime =)

  • Not impressed.Cut the beginning, get on with the cooking. The okro soup doesn't look appetizing at all.Looks like okro cooked ages back.Okro shld be brimming with colour.A hint of red&fresh green from the okro&not that disgusting brown, messed up soup you have out there. Then also try cooking with the shank of beef or the tough beef we have in Naija&lets see how ur beef will cook to tenderness when combined with okro at that early stage.Trying not to put you down but this does not represent Naija.

  • Thank you! Thank you!

  • @Kouglizia the title of the song is igede pt. 1 and its by Celestine Ukwu & his Philosophers..you can download it online. im glad the soup was good =)..ill do my best to post more vids like this

  • can i make this and omit the meat? it looks so delicious.

  • @iroc31407 yeah, it might not taste the same, but if you're a vegetarian you'll need to substitute the bouillon, ground fish and meat (maybe try tofu).

  • never seen grounded okra in okra soup... or tomato sauce. interesting.

  • @complicatedphenomena the tomato Paste is a substitute for fresh tomatoes and the grounded okra makes the soup draw a bit more.
