  • Grazie per questa splendida esecuzione.

  • From Babelfish, to help those who were curious as was I: "Frenkel, the verses Of [gamzatova] - cranes party [fortepiano] - Vadim [Pchelkin" Search using "cranes Russian music" to see the Wikipedia article explaining the piece & its history (since YouTube blocks links:(

  • Wow....

  • A beautiful interpretation of this hauntingly beautiful and elegaic setting of "Cranes" thank you so much for posting it.

  • Its moving, impressing and soulful. Thanks for posting.

  • Can you tell me what this song is and who composed it?

  • "Cranes"

    lyrics -- Rasul Hamzatov

    music -- Jan Frenkel

  • Any translation of a peace of lyrics is not straightforward.

I have found a version by Dmitrii Venzimerov that looks pretty close to the text

  • Sometimes I dream that fallen hero soldiers,

Forever lost in brutal old campaigns,

Were never buried under mournful alders,

But turned to mystic snowy craying cranes.

  • Since then they wing and wing and cry till now.

We recognise the hearty darling voice.

We pray in sorrow, souls dont allow

To take the look away, no other choice.

  • The tired flock soars up toward the clouds.

I see a tiny brake in their line:

Someone should exit noisy human crowds.

I realise: one day it should be mine.

  • One day the flock shell raise me to the cloud

And i will fly with others dont cry!.

I will put on the cloud as a shroud

And I will hail you faintly from the sky.
