I have had a lot of different Citroens since 1979: 2cv, Dyane, GS, DS, CX, BX, XM, 11 in total. My cars tended to break down if I drove them too carefully, especially the pre-'90 models. I don't know why, but if you drive them harder, they don't break down. Well, that's my experience.
Great video, This was one of the firsts on youtube about the DS, my childhood dream car.
I would like to ask something. I will have a DSuper 5 in 2 weeks :) , and I am going to use it in Estonia. Do you think I need double heating installed there? Mine has the default one, but I've heard, that its useful to have 2 in colder countries. What do you think?
I will have a heated garage for the car, and the chassis is restored so i hope to keep it rost-free for a while. But I know how hard they rost, so we will see...
ID/DS, one of the best gravel and back road cars made. Don't listen to those that post that you are abusing the car, even the road testers back in the day flogged these cars. I still have fond memories of blasting throught the countryside in mine years ago.
It isn't really nice how he stopped at that junction, he is racing a bit with it, but I think he should drive the car with a little bit more grace, that also fits the car better.
The suspension has nothing to do with today's funny rubbish cars - all brands are trying to sale us. this can take such kind of driving and a lot more - its totally strong safe and smooth...
I think that this car should not be driven like that. After all, it's an old car and it's a unique piece. The driving is not apropiate in my point of view. It's not a racing car.
-not a racing car, but one that can take to the bad roads at relatively high speed! I'd be more concerned about the little farm dog/child/wife that unwittingly runs out in front and gets pasted - that doesn't matter what car it is!!
D Model Citorens handled so smoothly because they were kinda big but light.

A fun video to watch. It's too bad it's so short. Any more of this video?

In reply to my own comment: I guess Citroen knew this. That's why they named the car SM. It likes to be beaten :)

Amazing car!!

I would like to use it daily, not to store in a garage all winter, till the next citroen meeting.
I think this car worths daily driving, using it as it was built to be used, not only polishing on weekends.

DS sold in scandinavia alwys had extra heater fitted on the right hand (with no fan).
I think with this option you get really warm and confortable even when its really cold.....
I dont drive DS:es in the winter anymore....cant keep up with the rust eating away these nice cars...

Thanks, then I think I need the extra heating.

Thanks for a great video clip. I'm glad you mounted the canera securely. So much of YouTube is poorly shot. What's the location? Cheers!

nothing wrong with re driving. The DS is robust. The driver knows his car. By the way, good engine sound. Looks like in Finland. Funny ending. Bravo.

Agreed Meirele. I own a DS and I would never drive it like that. Hated the bit whre he stopped at that junction.
