If you look at V2's attacks and it's properties, it's really just a 2000 cost MS with 50 more HP. It can't really count as a 3000 cost MS, but these are just my opinions anyway.
V2 Assault Buster doesn't have THAT much lower speed. I mean, the max accelaration is 20Gs! Lower that a little and that's V2 Assault Buster's speed. Either way, the beam rifle is quite strong, though it is true that armor got weaker throughout UC, since the new tactic was simply to evade. I lost track of how many times Usso lost the Victory Gundam's legs. Also, contrary to your statement, V2 Assault Buster IS the most powerful Gundam in UC.
Actually, base V2 moves at 20Gs max, while V2AB moves at 12Gs max. Though, the trade off for speed is Anti beam armor, 2 I-fields, and a crapload of stronger weapons like the 2 VSBRs. In the worse case scenario, the armor could just be ejected for the speed, and you could stick pick up the weapons to keep firepower with the speed.
Not to mention base V2 is a monster with Wings of Light.
I know it's just under 20Gs, but I didn't think it was that far under... Hmmm...seems more manageable, but I don't think it's that far under. Where did you hear about its max acceleration being 12Gs? I sort of doubt it, but it is quite plausible.
Its not just the armor's weight that pulled down the speed that much. All those weapons use an extremely high amount of energy, so the V2 cuts back on the energy for its Minovsky Drive to power up its I-fields, weapons, etc, which results in the vastly lowered speed. I saw this back when Mechatalk had the mecha battle topics. On the V2 vs Wing Zero one, someone posted a section from V2's full technical files. Even so, 12Gs is still alot for an inpenetrable flying fortess.
Heh, shows what you know. V2 is so much faster than anything with gundanium, and wings of light are a powerful offensive/defensive ability. Not to mention the V2's minovsky drive would utterly screw up any radar/target systems in a AC suit.

V2 just using the gundarium alloy.
exept for V2 asault buster which lower speed,
it just use beam saber and rifle.
since rifle could not realy penerate the higher alloy such as gundanium,
its not the powerful gundam out of uc.
