Sorry, but I disagree. The job of educators is to educate, not dictate laws, mandate policy, or make demands of parents, ostensibly those paying for the whole system with their tax dollars.
The entire message sounds like sour grapes on the part of educators. If you don't want to be an educator any longer, just quit. If your tired of hearing complaints, find another job.
If I took this attitude with my customers, I wouldn't have customers any longer.
@swright1970 It's not just the teacher's job but the student's and parent's jobs as well. As far as the teacher is concerned, all they have to do is check attendance, teach the class for the hour or so, give them homework, and send them off to their next class. At that point, it's the student's responsibility to complete the assignments and attend the classes. Teachers don't appreciate stupid excuses for why the child was absent for a week and didn't complete assignments.
Then the teacher's recourse is to reward the student with a grade reflective of his or her performance. Why does there have to be this attitude that it is the teachers and administrators versus the parents and students? Most parents are too busy working their tails off to afford a decent living for their families, and pay high taxes for schools which have lost focus of what their mission is.
Instead of griping, find better ways to satisfy the customer's needs.
LOL, may there be many more schools that pick that one up and run with it! Let the whingers and PC idiots of this world eat the excrement of their own folly.
Brilliant! The last few lines are weird and bordering on the racist bus otherwise, the post is wonderful. I work in a school and so much of what is said makes me think, 'Yes!'.
