  • Still can't understand how this video doesn't have more views, when there is much more inferior 8-bit guitar videos with lots more views!

  • @djsmithy thanks man! i think some of those views are from engineers checking out gear options - probably not musicians. anyways, plus people like to hear things that are recycled - not much recycled here ; ]

  • Love you animal-style

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

  • @TotalTortilla lolwut? money???

  • this is pretty FUCKING awesome!!!!

  • i imagine myself traveling through the gurudue desert its awesome

  • Where do you get this pedal?

  • you are the fucking best

  • what about the cat?????

  • lol pedals xD... get an ipad!

  • @yagodequay i have an ipad - this type of performance would be impossible with a touchscreen! - i wouldnt want to step on one of those! ; ]

  • This is sooo cool!!

  • This is awesome!!!! is there a single pedal that i can do this with??? i cant afford 8 pedals and whatever the hell that box thingy it.... i wanna play with those effects!!!! how u get the background 8 bit music? tell me in simple terms, i dont understand techno jargon.. this is awesome!

  • @ViRuS10101 From what I saw elsewhere, this setup consists of 8 pedals linked into a gameboy to replace the buttons (see how the four on the left are in a diamond shape like the direction pad?) then linked into an arduinoboy midi box. The guitar is then put through an 8-bit fuzzer to get the same sound as the rest of it.

Unfortunately there isn't a single box that can do this because it's all home made gear, and the techo jargon is because you need to be able to build it yourself

  • You put me on cloud 8!

  • you are my hero!

  • is this possible to do with lsdj? i could make a keyboard and turn tables on... right?

  • Absolutely fantastic! Hook us up with some mp3 downloads of this stuff!!

  • i cant stop listening!! XD

  • ... i watched so many times and been to your site. i still don't get what those modded gameboys are actually doing.

  • @ac4minus3 ... makes me want to go to one of your live shows

  • Yo it's Aaron! You might not remember me, but we used to work together at The Music Place. Just wanted to let you know that when the moon is full I still pump My Midi Bandmates and shimmy-vibe...hard. I <3 Tachyon Pistol

  • @stringcheese1230 yo - i remember you! awesome dude!

  • I love this

  • omgwtf whoa what is this

    This is quite awesome.

  • i love you

  • WTF! how'd you do this?

my only guess is that you use an an audio to midi reaktor patch outputs midi note and that goes through a mssiah with c64 in test intrument window. :D no other way to have that sid filter lead sound otherwise :D

  • @boorch no midi going on here!

  • @boorch Foot controls wired to the gameboy buttons is my guess.

  • Dude you really made my day

i was searching for an answer to do that and you are it

please post a tutorial on your set up if you could be so kind!!!

thanks for all the great Music!!!

  • The cat wanted to play nes but he got fooled.

  • This is ruddy BRILLIANT. So many questions on HOW. This is inspired stuff mate and I've been pimping it on my fave guitar forum. Top class!

  • oh wow this is awesome. This sounds amazing. 8BIT Ftw.

  • Realy good

  • great work

  • warriors come out to play! do a contra cover that would be awesome.

  • i do covers with my other band Autoscroll.

  • How do you get that PWM sound on the guitar?

  • this is the FXdoctor 8bit fuzz pedal... but i use this thing called the Pulsemonger mostly now.

  • hey wich would you recommend? I'm interested in getting this sound

  • LOLOL, That's my bass teacher. xD

  • Comment removed

  • ok what is his guitar effect? i was looking on net for some 8 bit sounding stuff but could not find anything...

  • 8bit fuzz by FXdoctor... there is the pulsemonger too and this one diy pedal...

  • Dude... that's bad-ass. I've been known to dabble with a little LSDJ from time to time and would love to be able to run it with foot pedals. I'm quite a newbie when it comes to DIY electronics stuff, so I'm curious... have you posted schematics or a "how-to" guide anywhere? If not, would you consider posting 'em or at least giving me some guidance via e-mail? Awesome work.

  • congrats animalstyle! featured on HACKADAY! :D

  • thanks!

  • This is amazing. Seriously, I love it.

  • I am in love with this video

  • AMAZORD !!

There are some moments like those long and exquisite NES intros that still make me feel plethoric when I listen it.

    1:10 - 1:30

    3:20 - 3:50

  • This is a fantastic tune

  • Dude, sounds awesome! any link to download the mp3? :D

  • this really reminds me of the times i switch on my gameboy and hear this kind of sings the best quality what we had last time

  • sweet dude.

  • do you have the 8bits sounds on your computer ? cause i really need them ( i love the kind of clap )

  • 5:50

Can Part Time do live sound for us? He looks like he knows what he's doing!

  • I have something I want to say about that room but I won't but I know you are thinking it Joey!

  • this is just wicked.

(hadnt noticed the stereo, a straight 5/5)

  • 4:44 Hahaha aww

  • awesome, i really enjoyed it ! :D

  • je suis fan bravo ;)

  • very very nice!

    love the chunky drum sounds.

  • I must admit: This activity is original.

  • very awesome!

  • "This video shows me performing with my foot controller. All the guitar parts here are improvised. I preprogrammed the loops on Nanoloop and trigger them with my foot via the GBC foot controller. My guitar is run through the 8bit fuzz pedal so that i can blend with the gameboy. Watch out for my cat around 5:46. His name is Part-Time. He looks at me like "what the fuck are you doing," and then walks away. I think he wanted some attention."

  • This is pretty great. Is there any chance of a better-quality recording, or just the audio rip, even?

  • sounds like megaman, fuckin awesome

  • fuckin' AWESOME :)

  • ol @ teh cat

  • is he using a midi pickup?? anyone ?? lol

  • Not as far as I know.

  • he's almost gotta be using one man. mabe the roland gk3???

  • No he's using an 8bit pedal and also it sounds like he's got a delay pedal too. All the smaller pedals out in front control the gameboy phrases via midi. All his guitar rig stuff is in the box on the left.

  • actually the smaller pedals are directly connected to the game boy circuit board. no midi involved.

  • i listen to samples of the 8bit pedal on the makers website and it didnt at all sound like the sound he made.

  • hey paulrose - there are several things that i did to make it sound more authentic... EQ - pickup height - there is a hidden potentiometer inside the pedal that i messed with... also, at points i have some slight delay on my guitar. Also, you have to watch how you play - like NO strings accidentally ringing and only one note at a time (maybe a power chord here and there)

  • im interested in making an 8bit pedal if i can find schematics, thanks very much for your reply

  • @nuemerik aha! now i get it.

  • holy 8bit COW! This was awesome! Keep it up, I loved it :D

  • the beat is killer

  • ALEX KID RULEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!! :D

  • awesome. keep doing.

  • Oh god this is Animal Style? I fucking love this mans music! Its AMAZING!

  • This is so awesome, i would kill for that 8 bit pedal...

  • good sound man !

  • Face fucking MELT!

    Animal Style rocks ;D

  • what kind of guitar is that

  • its a les paul guitar

  • i think he meant "how did he make the guitar sound that way"

  • muy bueno, felicitaciones

  • I'd kill to have one of those 8-bit FX pedals.

  • жыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыыырррррррррррр=)))

  • i wonder how much it would cost to make one of those. also can it play more than just one melody

  • hey man!it's nixon lee from myspace! i just wanted to say good job. You put on quite a show.

  • I REALLY like this 8 bit fuzz pedal he is using.

  • YEEAH!

    HAHA

    THATS THE SHIIIT!!

  • cool! you play shows?

  • nice! (my cali friend sent me a link to this and it was u!)

  • real good.

  • its not a guitar effect. hes using the pedals to control the gameboy running lsdj so he can play guitar over it.

  • "Using a custom foot controller and 8-bit fuzz pedal, he feeds his guitar into 8-bit land and triggers pre-programmed chiptune loops programmed in homebrew Game Boy music system Nanoloop, running on a Game Boy Color." - createdigitalmusic

  • This is awesome. I love your music, by the way.

  • hey brother! great music!!! EB0T.

  • love the sound of that 8bit pedal.
