Have you ever played the original Half-Life game for PC. Even though that game came out in 98 IMO it is the best first person single player game. There isn't many single player FPS games out there right now that hold up to this legend of a game. 90% of FPS single player mode blow. AI sucks, the games are to linear, just all action, no puzzle solving, never any stealth parts. Can go on and on without how shitty the majority of these modern games are.

It was the first real game i played, I was maybe 12/13 years old, thought the game was so scary. ha, it's crazy where games are now. The original Duke nukem3d game was boss aswel.

Bioshock was such trash, the story was basically copy pasted from system shock 2 and then shat on. The gameplay was again system shock 2 except dumbed down. It felt clunky as hell and the environments really never held my attention. And then people try to pass it off as if it were some kind of high art. Fucking ridiculous, Pretty generic list overall but at least you mentioned quake, Quake 3 is and always will be the pinnacle of competitive FPS.

The gameplay is insanely deep, it doesn't look it at first glance but once you get into it you realise just how much strategy is involved, alongside the amount of pure skill needed to master things like movement, aim, and timing. It's a true classic. Watch the Rapha vs Cooler match which has commentary by Rapha to actually get an idea of just what has to be going though your head when you play quake at a competitive level

This might sound a little odd to most people, but my number one favorite video game of all time is Beyond Good and Evil. That game was particularly unique in its story line and I haven't played anything similar to it since. The music was awesome. The voice acting was awesome. The art style was compelling and gentle. I agree with you on the 5th and 4th place and how you justify it. Those 2 game series are the father and mother of survival horrors in my opinion. FF being the scariest of them all like you mentioned.

Although I think there are some missing games that should at least be mentioned, and a true gamer would agree on that. Shadow of the Colossus being one of the most unique and beautiful games ever played. Metal Gear Solid series for its story and remarkable chars. And FFVII for obvious reasons.
