Goondaism cannot be tolerated, whoever perpetrates it and in whichever state in India. I would also blame the MAH state Govt and Mumbai police if this is indeed happening, and for not protecting the citizens from this. I agree. I am from Punjab and Punjab is no less than a favorite state to go and find "food" for these "Migrants" from UP and Bihar. We depend on them for what they do and what they do is best. They are not snatching jobs in Punjab. No body is stopping Punjabis to compete for same job that a Bihari and UPian can do. If Punjabis are better, they get the job. Also, this "upper crest" also are people who are not goondas, and how can they do anything against such goondaistic politicians without support from the Central Govt or the Law?

People like Amitabh Bacchan, the "upper crest", and other ppl in UP and Bihar are trying(roles played by others does not appear in media like Bachchan's). However, practically speaking development in a state can be brought about by these efforts, ONLY vastly through support from a State Govt which does its job-which is lacking in UP and Bihar sadly. PPl in Maharashtra and the other states are lucky that their politicians and govt are more supportive.

Why are you guys targetting Raj? what has he said against any community man? All he did was raised his voice against the heavy flow of migrants in Mumbai as any other mumbaikar. True, you can go anywhere in India and stay but that does not allow you to form a lobby against the locals and try to overpower them.

If "overpowering" lobbies are indeed being formed, that is wrong. However, attacking poor taxi drivers and labourers who are at no fault and have done nothing illegal (victims already of non-development in other states). Violence even claimed a marathi life, sadly. It is wrong to target people who do not speak Marathi and who celebrate any festival. No one expects Marathi IT engineers to speak Kannada in Blore. Unfortunately it is a political game-not a pure highlighting of infrastructure issue

Totally agree with you. But unfortunately what is happening in Mumbai is leaders like Abu azmi and Amar sing and up there Mr lalu also making stupid statements. Can I ask these leaders who 24x7 keep on chanting that mumbai is for everyone, why can't they make life better in Bihar and UP? in fact both the states are so rich by nature and by manpower too.

Unfortunately like politicians everywhere in India and in rest of land, these folks also have their own political agendas and reasons to be not that focussed on development. However, hopefully things would change for good like in rest of India (hopefully would happen slowly and steadily though, and would beed patience and support from rest of India-especially with size of population to be served in these two states). entire nation is painfully but surely undergoing change for good.

Do you really think progress/growth happening in Bihar or UP by any percent? If that was the case why would people come here? Ofcourse it happens with every Metro, why take Mumbai, indians are going and settling in every corner of the globe (though US is hot fav.)but again they are also facing the same wrath of locals. All we need to understand is it always asks for trouble when life becomes so tough.

Yes, development is definitely not 0% in UP or Bihar. However, unfortunately it is slow due to various reasons(some of which is not in hands of poor folks who move to Mumbai and of course who can wait for decades for development to happen in their states). So folks move to other states in india, which they are legally entitled to. It is the mistake of the ALL the state govts involved and the Centre to not have equal progress everywhere, leading to these situations.

Contd reply....So, folks in a metro as you call them as "natives", should understand all this and not unjustly target the migrants who are anyways victimsed by no development in their state (and legally move to your state to ethcially work and contribute). I would just request you to imagine what would happen if Indians abroad (including ppl from Mumbai) start getting physically beaten up in US, UK etc..Note that even Mumbaites go abroad, by availing of their right to pursue better opportunities

Contd...It is kind of ironical that the person physically targetted for the Mumbai infrastructure issues, is the poor migrant from UP or Bihar who himself is the victim of both his own state govt's failing to foster development and the failure of the MAH and Central Govt to resolve Mumbai infrastructure issues. So,politicians in MAH/UP/Bih have bashed up victims of their follies. What is sad that certain Marathis have also sided with the politicians in this, to vent their misplaced frustrations

First thing, Mumbai has become the top city because of its geographical conditions n equally imp is various ppl who systmatically developed trade and also the british for the governance n discipline they gave to mumbai. BUT - that did not stop chandigarh happening nor Hyderabad or Bangalore. Problem with only UP n Bihar from the north indian states and why? It is simply because of the people. [contd.]

Among the people who systematically developed Mumbai(as you stated), there are people from ALL states in India. Well the issues with UP and Bihar as compared to other states which stymies their development: Educational and economic Issues due to largest population in India(from ancient times many ppl settled along Ganga), really useless set of politicians to choose from, pressures of moving out from a very highly rural socio-economic structure

Contd (UP/Bihar): Things are changing in UP/Bihar also (Noida etc) slowly but steadily. Like with such things in life, change takes time and we need to be patient with the same. Dont forget that things all over India were not so great b4 1991 when the markets opened up. Since then development has happened slowly but steadily. UP and Bihar have been slow in catching up on this development due to reasons mentioned below, but I am sure they will also catch up.
