check out Wim Wenders' movies Wings of Desire and Far Away So Close. They took the inspiration for this video from them . They also mashed both movies together to make one and were the basis for the Hollywood version with Nic Cage, City of Angels

He also brought Bono's "Million Dollar Hotel" to the big screen and transformed the members of U2 into guardian angels for the "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)" video.

its based on "wings of desire" aka "Der Himmel über Berlin" its a german film that came out in 1987. City of Angels is based on it. The reason I say that is because they are dressed like the angels from the movie

I've been to Victory Column (with the giant statue of the angel) in Berlin. I was standing right under it too... Bitch of a climb though. Great view. It's an amazing structure. I love that my favorite band has been there too. :D
