  • Emmm... Why did they believe, in the very first episode that their mother;s name was Robin?? -____________-"

  • Actually, think about the first episode. He meets robin and calls her by her name for the entire flashback... but the kids are still incredibly shocked at the end when he says "And that kids, is how I met... your aunt robin".

The kids were surprised to learn her name, even though Ted uses it in the story, that we watch for ourselves. I just don't think that future Ted uses names much, or that while we see the real version of what happens, the kids are only being told segments.

  • possibly, it's a dark-haired woman, 'cus when they showed the kids how they would have looked with Stella they're blonde

  • or they could have thought that their mother wasn't the woman that raised them and were shocked that ted's wife wasn't their mother, so their biological mother was tracey but not the mother that raised them

  • Remember, everything is told through Ted's perspective. For all we know, that name is an outright lie.

  • @YoshiPlatinum -- Seems unlikely given the kid's reaction.

  • or maybe those who wrote the episodes didn't pay intention to this detail. that's my case: i never noticed it this way. but maybe your right

  • So, according to your logical, her name is Patrice. Wait ... isn't she Robin's co-worker?

  • It's possible that maybe Ted's ex-wife left him with the kids?

  • Why would he tell stories of meeting the kid's mother when they already know who their mother is. SO what is the point of Ted saying that Stella might be "the one" when the kids already know the name of their mother?

  • Marshall is still alive. One day Marshall said that the lord took Lily from him if I remember from earlier episodes.

  • So true. Good eye though they may just forget... But so true about why else would they fall for it.

  • But if their mom's name was Tracy, they probably would have reacted the second they heard the name.

  • @blizzaire08 Isn't it known that they are having one kid as of now and its a boy? How could they change that into twins?

  • I stand by my theory that the mother is Barney's half-sister.

  • Ted's future wife is living together with Cindy and that's a FACT! And she attended Ted's first lecture, so she must be a student of economics. Maybe her name is Tracy, why not? Sounds logical!

  • HOW ABOUT THIS:

Lily and Marshal have twins and then die in a car accident. Ted, with his partner at the time, named Tracy, ADOPT Marshall and Lily's twins, who are the kids, so REALLY the kids' mother is Lily, but she's dead.

did I just blow your mind or what

  • @blizzaire08 gasp! that's horrible. They can't kill Marshall and Lily!

  • @abassline Watch the episode where Marshall and Lily write the notes to each other in case one has an untimely death. They are shown to be alive in the year 2029. Also the episode where Barney fakes his death. And wouldn't Ted want to mention the death of Marshall and Lily to Wendy the Waitress when he sees her in 2021? Also why would he tell his kids that Marshall and Lily are their Aunt and Uncle? Shouldn't they know who their real parents were? It's in the law I think.

  • @abassline they are soooo funny and without them no how i met your mother :(((((((((

  • @abassline Maybe that is the series finale

  • @blizzaire08 don u ever ever kill Lily & Marshall!!

  • @blizzaire08

But future Ted (a.k.a Bob Saget) is always referring to them as "Your Uncle Marshall" and "Your Aunt Lilly" which means they must still be alive and know Ted's kids.

  • @blizzaire08 we've seen the 20-,30-,40- years later versions of marshall and lily about a million times..^^ so. not gonna happen xD

  • @blizzaire08 not true ted talks about aunty lily and uncle marshall and there are flash backs of seeing them in like 2028 and stuff like that where marshal and lily are really old, meaning that the kid were already born and they are teds, so that isnt true lol

  • @yamahapepsi baam you blown his mind away :DD

  • @blizzaire08 but then the show would have ended when they were in college

  • @blizzaire08 - you didn't ... sorry, but thats not gonna happen.

  • @blizzaire08 Sounds familiar, i think i have read a story about that once???? =l

  • @blizzaire08 that can't be, they know "uncle" Marshall

  • @blizzaire08 But then 'how I met your mother' would be a story about meeting Lily......

  • @blizzaire08 They have shown Marshal in 2029, when he read the letter from Lilly, which he should read when Lilly died

  • @blizzaire08 Yeah, but he's already covered how he met LILY, therefore the show would have ended about 4 seasons ago.

  • @blizzaire08 WHAT ABOUT the stories he tells about the future, like the college reunion?

Did I just blow your mind or what?

  • Comment removed

  • @blizzaire08 or their mother is not named Tracy and that is why they react like that .....

  • Ted's got a cute daughter :)

  • isnt her mother is carly? that ted found her in barneys wedding. and carly is barney sister which mentioned in ep 19 season 6 by barneys dad. that what i thought hmm

  • @meeporingoz where the hell took you the name carly out? there is no scene where is mentioned that teds wife is called carly...

  • This is wrong. By your logic, the kids would know in the first episode that it wasnt robin that ted married when she first said her name in the bar. the story the kids get told is not identical to the one shown on screen

  • @andytehgilley Future Ted always referred to Robin as "Aunt Robin." It was made pretty clear from early int he first season that she wasn't the mother. I see no reason why this is illogical, especially considering how intricately this show links different stories over the course of many seasons. I agree that the mother's name will likely be Tracy.

  • @sbgtf no, i mean in the very first episode robin introduces herself on screen as 'Robin'. If future ted told the kids shehad said this they would know he was talking about their aunt robin. so this shows that the kids do not get told the exact same story as is shown to us.

  • Yes,her name would be Tracy, watch out for the girl named Tracy that he will meet in bride's room at barney's wedding. ( You know,he was called by Lily to help the bride "Ted the bride needs her best man")

  • well lets think that Ted wife was called Kim...and the kids were suprised that Kim wasent their real mother

  • i believe Ted's wife is Barney's sister

  • I don't think the writer knows who the mother is.

  • Kids you were adopted, actually i just wanted to tell awesome stories about Barney Stinson

  • @igorofull Your Comment Was Legend- Wait For It- Daryyyy!... WHAT UP!

  • only chuck norris knows the name of the mother

  • Does Barney really has a degree from MIT??

  • Who the fuck cares, i just want to see more Awesome Barneycle, the name of the show should be just How i learned what barney does for a living.

  • but then again, Ted hides some of the girls' names, right?

  • The writers don't even know who the mother is but sure you've figured it out

  • the mother might be named carly, cause that's barney's half-sister's name

think about it, when barney meets his dad, he says she's a college student,

and if ted would meet her, he would definietly meet her at barney's wedding.

  • lol but it doen't help if you've seen all the episodes of season 1. so i know that that is not their real mother! but stil funny! LOL XD

  • kid, i never met your mother because i'm gay and you're adopted

  • THE MOTHER IS CARLY BARNYS SISDER *********

  • Lol, guessing their real mother's name is Tracy, but he wasn't saying the stripper was their mother... It was probably thrown in as an unclarified joke, it seems like they should have put in a line at the end or something to clarify that he was making up the part about her telling him that her name is Tracy, basically its implied that he was lying about her giving him her real name

  • Soon you will have more dislike than likes...

  • @lolipopqueen00 Care to wager an estimate as to when that might be?

  • she said "actually", so it supposed she has others names, children supposed too : useless video

  • i don't think he

's telling his kids everything you can see, and i don't really care of who's the mother. and why they should make a mistake or a scene like that?!

  • @goeatpancakes

    that's *grammar.

lol i hate people who correct spelling

but the irony was just sitting right there

    haha sorry

  • ITS SO CLEAR NOW.

  • Or there can be a lie within a lie...!!If they see this an alter it out accordingly...hehe

  • Wow. The kids are very shocked the minute they heard that.

  • I like your way of thinking but it's possible that they actually don't know the mothers' name. Maybe she died before they got to know her or something? It's possible to say the least.

  • @JerkinShit yes, possible..but y would such a funny show end with such tragic news

  • don't forget he is telling the story....... we see it how he discrabs it, it could be that she didn't tell

him her name was tracy but he told the kids that so they fall for it..............

  • Comment removed

  • my therory is that they don't know their mother cause they are adopted.

  • good theory but my theory is that they said what because they know that, that's not their mother's name

  • be funny if it turned out he was gay.

  • @dannythegough1 OH GOD WHAT A MASSIVE PLOT TWIST

  • @dannythegough1 AND MARRYS BARNEY :O AND THE KIDS ARE ADOPTED

  • @dannythegough1 lmao YES!!! started to think this around season 3 sometime haha

  • it's the roomate from one of his exes.

  • @iceceleste8591

nah they discover that she is a lesbian and she's not ted wife

    its barney step-sister

  • I'm pretty sure it means there adopted.

  • @lovesaroo nope. robin is not the mother..

  • I actually thought about this when I saw this. But I doubt that they'll follow up on this.

  • most importantly... what happened to the pineapple?

  • @1987stella they ate it,dun u c the ending of the show

  • @s4xtt i meant: how did the pineapple get into ted's room :)

  • Exactly what I noticed. I thought I was the only one. And also that I could get it on a newspaper article if it turned out to be wrong :D

  • I don't think that's her name. Ted probably didn't tell the kids the stripper's name. Remember in the pilot the kids didn't know he was talking about Robin until he said her name out loud. They thought he was talking about their mom.

  • which episode is this from

  • look guys ted will marry barney step sister

robin gonna marry barney cuz they 2 hates kids and robin cant bring child to life -.-

lily and marchell will give a birth to a baby

but there is alot of things we have to discover in this show not only who the mother is

    like what barney job?

how does ted wife look like?

when the show will just over?

    how would robin leave kevin?

why did they show us that robin had kids then suddenly they disappeared?

alot of things happend in this show just watch it .

  • @Vincentsammour4 "robin cant bring child to life"

What, you mean she's not a pedonecromancer?

  • @ndschroede23

in the last episodes in season 7 robin thought she is bregnant but then she discovered that she cant have kids and the kids she was telling the story disappeared

  • How about you watch the show to find out who the real mother is

  • Who even does still care who is the mother, tell me what Barney do for living :D

  • @Saxeras i thought he worked at the Goliath National Bank

  • @octaviousza How about telling us what exactly he does there ;)

  • @TheIkkuna1 What i know is , he is one of the highest ranking member in the company , and extorts the company because he knows so many dirty secrets about the company . oh And he was the search committee for GNB. :D

  • @Saxeras Please...

  • @Saxeras My guess is that he is extorting the company for a salary. He already says in one episode that with what he knows about the company, they'll never be able to get rid of him.

Also, that would explain why he's so dodgy about explaining to everyone what he does. They probably just pay him to be quiet, and keep him there for appearances or something.

  • @DaBomb572 They liked the fact that nobody knew what Chandler Bing worked with, and they implemented the same funny element in HIMYM..

  • @Saxeras "Kids, i never met your mother...you're adopted. I just wanted to tell you the awesome story of Barney" ;)

  • @Saxeras GREAT grammer there

  • @Saxeras haha please

  • @Saxeras Hehe...please!

  • @Saxeras He works in a bank, the gnb^^

  • In several episodes they've showed glimpses of the mother. There was one episode where they were waiting in line in the rain to get into a club, and one of the women in line had dark brown hair and was carrying a yellow umbrella. Later in the episode, Ted found the umbrella and told the kids it was the mother's. In the episode where Ted is teaching a class, a girl with dark brown hair motions to Ted to let him know it's the wrong class, and Ted says the mother was in that class. Etcetera. :|

  • I've figured it out. They will keep making episodes until people get bored of it, then it will be taken off the air. Then, the makers might talk about who the mother actually is, IF they've even decided who it is, in an interview.

  • @FlutterSnide As long as Neil Patrick Harris is on that show, people will never get bored of it. :|

  • Allow me to propose a fine theory that will help whittle down the possible motherly candidates: in the episode where Ted finalizes breaking up with Zooey (Season 6 finale) he asks a lady to hand a sorrowful orchid to a "blonde woman" in a cafe. The orchid then passes on to a different blonde lady from Zooey to which future Ted proudly states "and that, Kids, is how I met your mother. Psyke!" The mother will be a blonde lass, which points to Barney's sister as a candidate.

  • ted has already met your mother. if you pay attention. In season 3 episode 12 called no tomorrow. Barney and ted go to a bar that ted says his mother is at the bar. He shoulder bumps a woman at the club and apologizes. She forgives him and they move on. The timing is at 13:26. Mark these words. That woman you see is "your" mother.

The producers have also said the story will be wrapped up by the end of the eighth season. Ted does not marry Robin.

  • Wow that blew my mind haha! Good thinking

  • very clever

  • Comment removed

  • He didn't tell them Robin's name in the beginning, even though WE knew her name was Robin. They didn't know he was talking about "Aunt Robin" until he told them that's who he was talking about- "And that's how I met your Aunt Robin."... We had already known her name and all that before he'd said that to his kids. So in reality, because of the way they wrote the show, he could tell them stories and never mention the woman's name. All we know is the roommate and the yellow umbrella. Bastards.

  • Marrys barneys sister who's in college and robin marries Barney

  • just a idea but he says he was kidding so why he shouldn't kidding with the name

  • @SeLiaSmaiL Exactly what I was thinking there..

  • @TheAbcarpenter12 Barney and Robin Break up and Robins sister is sixteen.. Sorry bro...

  • The show is also FULL of plot holes. SO MANY PLOTHOLES.

  • mayby there a diffent trary

  • CANT BE ROBIN! they call her AUNT Robin O_o

  • the wife of ted is barney half sister

  • It's Robin. The writers always have a way of twisting stuff around. Since Robin can't have kids it's probably like the kids are someone else's 'mother' but he's still with Robin.

  • @RazzleDazzle2340 It's definitely not Robin. Ted (older Ted) has pointed out to his kids more than once how much he loves their Mother. Clearly, Robin isn't the Mother and Ted isn't with her either, I mean, c'mon, they call her Aunt Robin,

  • @RazzleDazzle2340 Of course is not Robin, the mother is the owner of that yellow umbrella, the roomate of Rachel Bilson's character, it can't be Robin, since the kids call her aunt, it wouldn't make any sense

  • @RazzleDazzle2340 Actually they have showed bits that point Robin to marrying Barney not Ted!

  • @Saschikun Yeah I know, there's a lot of hints that he marry's Robin but I don't think it will be Robin. Like Barney did pick the right tie, but Robin may not be the right tie. Robin's not in the room when the flashback occurs so it's being assumed that Robin marries him.

  • @RazzleDazzle2340 How can it be that Ted marrys Robin, as he always refers to her as "auntie Robin" and Robin can't have any children.

  • @RazzleDazzle2340 Yeah that's what I think too. Because you know, if the show goes on for like 5 or 6 more seasons Ted and Robin will reach their 40s and are supposed to marry each other if single. Maybe the truth is , even the writers don't know who is the mother.

  • His wife follows him on wedding,on class,St.Patrick's day.EVERYWHERE-.-

  • It cant be Robin, because the doctor said she cant have kids

  • good reflexion i never tougth in this way

  • rumors foretold that she might be Barney's step sis.

    the logics:

    - Ted met her at Barney's wedding [which might be Robin's too since Lily says: "The bride is calling for you" or something like that]

    - Barney's sis is in college, n Ted did mentioned that his kids' mom was in his 1st class.

  • I think they where more like "WHAT!!" at the fact "Tracy" was a stripper not what u propose!

  • Your theory might be right, but Future Ted could not tell the name to the kids, apart from the fact that "Tracy" was a stripper and they don't trust in a stripper giving her name (pretty smart). I just hope that they show Barney's wedding at the end of this season.

  • ' WHAT ?! ' hahahaha xD

  • The wife's name is Carly. It's Barney's half sister. Barney's dad said that he has a daughter in college. Ted teaches at Columbia and said the mother was in the wrong class that he was teaching at. Then Ted also said he mets his wife at barney's wedding which Carly would probably be attending. Her name is Definitely Carly.

  • @mtd6886 True story? do you have proof?

  • @mtd6886 nice logic

  • @mtd6886 You blew my fucking mind, man. Thanks!

  • @mtd6886 my thoughts exactly!

  • @mtd6886 Woah! O_O nice observation skills...

  • @mtd6886 Shit!!.Why did i read your commentary :(

  • @mtd6886

yeah! thats why ted says everey time uncle barney!

  • @Skatetutorial7 he said aunt robin too ^^

  • @3ninichan3

marshall and lily too, but barney and robin(i think) will marry and thats why ted says aunt and uncle!

  • hahaha nice one! :)

  • Hey kids let me tell you how I met your mother oh and about sleeping with your aunt robin and 100 others oh and drugs (sandwiches). Sandwich brownies :D

  • They had the same reaction when they found out Robin was just "Aunt Robin."

  • hey guys and girls i heard that the name of teds wife is carly

  • I'm pretty sure that the name of their mother isn't Tracy. Remember all the way back in season one when he revealed that he dated their Aunt Robin and they acted surprised? By abassline's logic, their mother's name is also Robin. I think it's much more likely that the kids don't know their mother's name.

  • @Frostyincave thye acted surprised cause they thought he was telling the story of the mother, not aunt Robin, thats why they were like "what? i thought this is the story of how you met mom"

  • Comment removed

  • well watching over the years, Robin, Barney, Marshal and Lily ARE aunt and uncle to the kids... and watching this over and over again the name has to be Tracy...

  • @bigclayfan4eva We've seen time and again how unreliable Future Ted is when it comes to storytelling. He frequently gets story elements out of order or in the wrong place. Remember the goat? Just because WE saw the stripper say her name was really Tracy doesn't mean her name was actually Tracy or that Future Ted didn't change the name in his retelling just so he could freak out the kids.

  • i want robin to be the mother...

  • @567christie The show is going to end at season 8.

  • thats not right! we didn't know, how the scene goes on. it could be, that the kids expected, that their mom, would be the next dancer on the stage, or something else.

i think their is a great number of solutions, for this "problem"... (sry, for my bad english...)

  • You make a great point, but I think its just an oversight on the part of the producers

  • they are adopted~

  • hmm..very clever

  • BUT it doesn't mean that mothers name is Tracy...stripers have a fake names...so kids could think that mother about her name lied (when she said name Tracy)

  • @515ladybird Also, by this time the kids have to be bored senseless at hearing about the parade of women their father dated before ever meeting their mother and have tuned him out, only barely paying attention. They could have freaked out at hearing their mother was a stripper only to realize later that they had completely overlooked the fact that her name wasn't Tracy.

  • nice thinking ^^

  • Spoiler alert: Barney's halfsister is the mother. It's so obvious, unless they want us to think that we know the answer... :o

  • @TheBubalooza You mean unless they do that thing they do all the time?!

  • we saw his wife heel, and roommate

  • Cool but listen I've seen the episode when he said he was kidding this is what he ment he was at a strip club and the girls stage name was amber and her off stage name was Tracy so the kids said WHAT! because they thought there mom was a striper then Ted said he was kidding get it

  • But Ted said he met his wife at a wedding, not a strip club?

  • @habibiroot I wasn't saying that he met her at a strip club, I was saying that her name was Tracy. True, he does meet her at the wedding, but the point of the video was that the mothers name must be Tracy because the kids fell for it.

  • @abassline Really smart that u spotted that, and u may well be right... but to be honest i dont think the writers planned that far ahead. they probably just fucked up :P but u may still be right
