In 1943, WW2 had been going on for 4 years and the US had been in it less than a year. This cartoon would have played in movie theaters (NOT on tv) along with News Reels and other tidbits before the main movie. Much of the nation was rural and got a lot of their world news (and propaganda) at the movie theater on Saturdays, kids and adults. Don't impose your 21st century concepts of propaganda etc on something 65 years old, you must look at it in its historical context to really understand it.

To answer why it is banned. I have no real reason but i thought about it for a minute. The cartoon shows the Japanese Imperial flag and also the Nazi Swastika, and now a days apparently many people are offended by these symbols (thats why in many simulators you do not see such symbols). Also, the narrator's voice kinda sounded a bit "agressive" in a way that makes the "Axis" sound like the victims. Dunno bout you guys but that's kinda what i got from that.

I dont think they had nukes back then. Also, taxes don't just pay for the war effort, they pay for government services. Police, government regulation of prices, creating currency, law making, even the post office. Taxes pay for all of that.

I don't exactly "buy into system propaganda". The US and the allies made mistakes and spread a lot of lies and hatred to pull out a victory in WW2.
However to think that if the systematized eugenics(yes, I know the US began the eugenics programs- so let's not go there)and racial cleansing programs of the Nazis would have created a better world than the one we live in, then you are allowing yourself to be ruled by fear.
And I have read the Gita-I'll stick to Zen. The Vinaya's just for fun:)

Back in the 1920s, Jews had a very negative influence on German culture and politics, just like they have in the US today. All Hitler wanted, was to make Germany German again by taking away all power from the Jews and giving it back in German hands. He did NOT want to exterminate the Jews or any other non-German people. That's just nonsense.
Also, it should be noted that the Nazi living standard was incredibly high for all layers of society. Germans never were as happy as back then.

Nazi eugenics implied the following. 1) the most severely handicaped (people who really had no life) should be euthanised. 2) people with dangerous hereditary diseases and people unfit to raise children (like alcoholics) should be sterilised. 3) people should be trained both mentally and physically to achieve their highest potential.
I don't see how anyone can object to such measures.

In 1943, WW2 had been going on for 4 years and the US had been in it less than a year. This cartoon would have played in movie theaters (NOT on tv) along with News Reels and other tidbits before the main movie. Much of the nation was rural and got a lot of their world news (and propaganda) at the movie theater on Saturdays, kids and adults. Don't impose your 21st century concepts of propaganda etc on something 65 years old, you must look at it in its historical context to really understand it.

To answer why it is banned. I have no real reason but i thought about it for a minute. The cartoon shows the Japanese Imperial flag and also the Nazi Swastika, and now a days apparently many people are offended by these symbols (thats why in many simulators you do not see such symbols). Also, the narrator's voice kinda sounded a bit "agressive" in a way that makes the "Axis" sound like the victims. Dunno bout you guys but that's kinda what i got from that.

wow, reading some of these replies.. sad, learn history. imagine what it was like having to pay income tax every few months. good thing there was no CNN back then or else we would say hiel hitler for greetings and goodbyes. and at least those taxes went to worthwhile things like the military and ending the war through victory, not defeat. im just glad the income tax went back to once a year, to bad they couldnt get rid of it altogether.

Japan didn't have nearly enough resources to get the US. I am pretty sure they'd have driven till it was out of oil and just bump the docks in San Francisco.
The Germans were fighting the Russians and the British on two sides. Russia was turning it around, and the British were too with help from America. If it were just Britain, then they might have fought each other into oblivion, like they were close to doing in WWI.

The only point I was trying to make was Japan was eating up 1/6th of the earth's surface (Asia and India). They weren't too concerned with "invading and occupying" the USA. "Zero battles on US soil", no kidding, but in a geopolitical context, we very nearly lost it. Then these ding-a-lings would have bigger things to worry about than the bad "propaganda" and "brainwashing" of these Disney cartoons.
