ussr wasnt the only one to have to move there missles from a another country.robert kenndey met with soviets to arange a deal that the ussr would remove the nukes and that the us would not invade cuba and for the ussr not to say publicly that the u.s. would remove the missles from turkey,jfk did not announce that america had mad a deal to remove the juipter missles from turkey because the u.s. didn't want to come out publicly with a black eye out of the insident.

you are quite correct, and also, the whole turkey deal first arose as Khrush's attempt to emerge from his 'retreat' with a 'face saving' projection of bargaining for more, to appease the kermlin.

Turkey was thrown into the whole picture @ Khursh's public annoucnement, at which time US admin. learned about it and were like "WTF"

its important to note that both of these ldrs are fighting eachother, and trying to maintain powerful/competent position within their administrations

the time frame might be a little off. i thought it started when the u.s. placed nukes in turkey pointing at the USSR :)
